This was where was stayed on our first trip to Paris. The hotel was a great choice! Fantastic location, the hotel staff was great. They even helped when I fried my converter. The rooms were huge but nicely done. The bathroom was big and clean - no tub, only a shower. Our room overlooked the street but the noise wasn't bad. They had blackout shades and we accidentally slept until noon one day! Cafe Zimmer is right at the end of the street and is a great place for dinner. If you leaned out out window and looked down the street you could see Hotel de Ville. Beware of the elevator - it is tiny!!!! We ended up taking 2 trips.

Finding a hotel in Paris that combines very good service, great location, good value, and reasonable-to-good room dimensions is a hard 'nut to crack'. Hotel Brittanique does it. We stayed four nights during the cold and snow of mid-December 2009, including an extra night due to the Eurostar debacle, and we absolutely enjoyed the Hotel as our base. This is truly a great location, the area is also not noisy, the rooms are very good, and the staff were excellent. This will be our hotel of choice in Paris for the future....we couldn't recommend it more.

Great location. Hotel is very close to Chatelet train station, a block or so from the river and a short walk to the Louvre. Also, Notre Dame and many other sites are within walking distance and some great restaurants in the neighborhood. This being my wife and my first stay in Paris the staff was very helpful and very friendly. Room was extremely clean and nice. A little small for US standards, but bigger than several rooms I have stayed in in Belgium. Pretty normal European size. Plus we didn't spend much time in the room. We stayed on the 6th floor in the front and had a great view of the city including a nice view of the Tour Eiffel.

This was the second hotel we stayed at in Paris. It was definitely worth the extra money. The rooms are much spacier than most Parisien hotels with the traveler in mind (desk, stools for placing luggage, large closet, etc). The staff was very nice and helpful and the entire hotel was just beautiful. Also great location by lots of shops and near the Louvre.

The location - close to Chatelet - is great. However that is the best thing. Otherwise - our room was very small and very hot. Plus stifling in a decorative sense with its over-powering red velvet hangings, bedspread and Rococo mirror. Plus no kettle - so important to a British traveller! Just the offer to 'fill a teapot' between noon and 4pm. Just not good enough. Snooty receptionist who queried the credit card details we had left with her on booking. What?! For 400+ euros for a two-night stay. The hotel across the street is a much better bet. Hotel Chatelet. More chic. Cheaper. And more fun.

We stayed at the hotel for six nights between 13th of August and 19th of August in a standard double room. The truth is that the room was small but it was very clean, nicely decorated and felt very cosy. We liked it very much. The bathroom was very clean and also the ac worked very well. I am saying this because it was very hot in Paris during our stay.
Breakfast was ok. The staff was very helpful and spoke english fluently so we did not have any communication problem. Thay were also keen to reserve us a table at a restaurant we wanted and also helped us to check in online the day before we left. They also booked us a shuttle bus to the airport for the price of 19 euros per person (for 2 people is 38 euros so it is cheaper than a taxi and more comfortable)

The location was ideal for sightseeing since it was near place du chatelet so almost everything was in a walking distance and if it was not you could grab a taxi from place du chatelet. On the other hand it was in a very quiet road so there were not any sounds from the outside.

It is a bit pricey for a three star hotel but if you consider the good location, the cleanliness and the nice room I think it is worth it.

I stayed at Hotel Britannique for 2 nights in a room that supposedly accomodated 2 people (upper floor, facing the front). I'm so glad I didn't have to share my room with another person!! The room couldn't have been larger than 8x10 feet...barely enough room to walk around the bed. The balcony was maybe 3x5 feet with 2 small chairs and a table. The bathroom size didn't really bother me except for the fact that there were 2 oversize terry robes hung on the hook on the back of the door, which prevented the door from opening all the way. When the balcony doors were closed and the shades pulled down, it really was dark and quiet, except for the noise from the adjacent rooms (paper thin walls between rooms). Even when the heat was off, the room got stuffy during the night, which necessitated leaving the balcony doors open until I couldn't deal with the light and noise any longer. The elevator was so tiny, there was only enough room for me and my suitcase. I had to share the elevator (without my suitcase) a couple of times with another hotel guest, which was awkward because we had to stand so close together (thank goodness for deoderant and breath mints)!! The only English language TV channel was the BBC. Not that I went to Paris to watch TV, but CNN would have been a nice option while getting ready to go out and about.

On the plus side, the location was great, it was clean and nicely decorated, and the staff spoke very good English and was very helpful. The breakfast buffet was adequate and convenient, but nothing to write home about.

Overall, not a bad place, just make sure you are prepared for small!!
