“Great little hotel in a super location!”
Reviewed 24 June 2012

I surprised my wife with a 40th anniversary trip to Paris. I had made reservations at the FS George V. My wife decided to do extensive research to find a Paris boutique hotel instead. She found the Burgundy. This little hotel, less than 60 rooms, is very quant with superb staff, very clean, and, in a word, they get everything right! Yes, the standard rooms are small (they tell you the size on the website before you reserve, so this should not be seen as negative), but they are the same size as the standard George V rooms for half the cost. These are very small examples of the service, but they are telling. After walking around the city all day, we decided to get dessert in the hotel bar. My wife ordered Crème Brule. She inquired whether the dessert had fruit. She was told that it didn’t. She did a playful frown. However, when the dessert was delivered, there were fresh berries! Another night we came in from a hot day of walking, and went to the bar for a night cap. We only ordered drinks. However, the bartender remembered my wife’s love of fresh fruit and gave her a cup of fresh berries in a martini glass (with ice below the fruit).
The location is great as well. When you read the books about Paris, they will talk about how great the metro is, and I’m sure it is. But if you’re riding the metro, you’re missing the city. From this hotel we walked to the Seine, the Louvre, d’Orsay, the Arc, the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, and Montmartre. Note, we are not young (40th anniversary!) but these were not difficult walks.

If you want pretentious or a larger hotel, try the George V or Le Maurice. We are fortunate enough to be able to afford a more expensive hotel, but we will return to this hotel on our next visit.

ps. the hotel smells great, but not overpowering.

Room Tip: We did not use the spa or have breakfast. Our room was right next to the elevator, but the rooms ha...

We stayed at Le Burgundy for 5 nights in June. The hotel itself is lovely. Very well presented. Rooms are clean, of a good size for Paris and decorated well (the only issue was the bathroom lacked privacy with sheer curtains that were see through when the lights were on). However:

1. The location isn't the greatest. Certainly not walking distance to most landmarks (although close to the Madeline metro stop, but we would have preferred walking). The location actually didn't feel like Paris, but was more business-like.
2. Overall, the price was not worth the hotel or location.
3. There are no good restaurants in the area. We found it very difficult to eat dinner out and in-room dining prices were over-inflated.
4. Hotel staff were a little pretentious. Yes it is Paris and it is a 5 star hotel however being a little bit more down-to-earth would have been nice.

Again, the hotel is lovely, but the cons outweigh the pro's and next time we would stay in a different area of Paris.

I stayed here for 6 nights to attend a conference in Paris. Yes, this a a very expensive hotel, but this is Paris - everything is expensive - less expensive hotels that I have stayed at in Paris have been far less relaxing. I splashed out on a junior suite - this was a beautiful room, very quiet, very comfortable, beautiful decor, and I think the most comfortable bed that I have ever had in a hotel. I had very helpful service from all of the staff. Just 300m or so from the entrance to Madeleine Metro Station, and about a 12 minute walk to Concorde Metro Station.

Very pretentious, but not really up to the standard. The rooms are very small (I could barely walk around the bed without bumping into the corner). Hotel staff is not up to the 5 star category. Concierge not really helpful. All in all - Paris has plenty of hotels which are both better and significantly cheaper.

Just a fantastic hotel on every level. Beautiful, small hotel in a great location. Concierge were the most friendly and helpful we've experienced anywhere in the world. Can't recommend highly enough.

The hotel was perfect for our anniversary weekend in Paris. The location was great, the service was great, and the rooms were really well decorated in neoclassical/modern style. Definitely the best of both worlds...a boutique hotel with five-star amenities/service. Can't wait to go back!

We stayed for 5 nights and found the hotel to be perfect for our needs. High end decor and well appointed bedrooms. Excellent bar and restaurant. Perfect location for shopping and sights. The spa was also very good and the pool a real treat. But the best thing about this hotel is the service. The concierge was outstanding and at short notice made all reservations we wanted at three star restaurants. Nothing was any difficulty and all arrangements were perfect. The manager bade us a personal farewell and gave my wife some gifts from the spa.
