Though more "Oriental" than "Parisian," this hotel was superb during our 8-day stay in Paris. We were upgraded to a Junior Suite upon our arrival, which was large and beautiful. It has an excellent location for shopping on Rue Saint Honore, and it's a fairly close walk to many of the best Parisian tourist sites (including the Louvre, Musee D'Orsay, Napolean's Tomp, Ile de Cite, Notre Dame and many excellent restaurants. But, the defining element of this hotel is its service! Everyone (concierge, hotel staff, waiters & waitresses, bellmen, door men, housekeeping, management, the spa) was the very best in taking care of our every request. Since our French was quite elementary, it was also very nice that everyone at the hotel spoke excellent English! The spa, though expensive, was the best anywhere we've been! Overall, an excellent hotel with an excellent staff.

This is my 2nd time staying in Mandarin Oriental Paris although I used to be a Plaza Anthenee fan. The staff are just so friendly, attentive and efficient from the minute you check-in. They simply can't make you feel more welcome and always have time for a chat to see if they can make your stay more enjoyable and pleasant. Rooms are very good size considering you are in the most prestigious location of Paris. Most impressed with the adjustable Bang & Olufsen TV system in the rooms. Being a sports fanatic, I particularly enjoy the high tech well-appointed gym and the beautiful swimming pool with steam room to train and unwind. Out door seating in the restaurant and bar is a gem for summer evenings and morning leisure breakfast (make sure you try the healthy breakfast). Not to mention I went to see Mona Lisa every time I stayed here! Forget about the traditional stuffy Paris, one must go and experience what I'd call 'contemporary luxury & chic'!!!

This is one of a few hotels that is a candidate for best hotel in Paris. Due to its modern rooms, great location, and overall good service it is in the ranks of other great Paris hotels. There are flaws, however, and if given a choice between George V and the Madarin I think we would still opt for the Four Seasons even though we like the location of the Mandarin better. The flaws include dark bathroom lighting, complicated room technology, and a friendly but lacking concierge. The positives are the new modern feel, the rooms, the bar, room service and the overall friendly staff. Checking in was flawless, room service was excellent and we enjoyed drinks in the garden patio. The location is great and you have access to the Paris we love, especially the Left Bank. But at the end of the day this hotel does not yet match George V service and though we like the more modern feel it does not win the top position in Paris, yet.

Room Tip: Stay in a St. Honore facing room. Very quiet and nice light.

Very attentive and personalised service. I loved the check in in the room, so good to save 5 minutes at the reception counter when you arrived late! Also, in addition to flawless service and attention to details, the rooms are really high tech with mirror TV in the bathtub for instance and a whole range of similar details.

Have a drink at the bar in the courtyard in the middle, almost a tropical touch in the middle of Paris and really nice from spring to late fall

One point a bit disappointing though for frequent travellers: not much originality in rooms, most have the same design/ outlay so could be a bit boring if you have multiple successive stays there.

I strongly recommend Paris latest palace edition where I found the best service I ever experienced in my favorite city, without attitude (for a change), actually in a cool and fun ambiance that started from the get-go with a complimentary glass of champagne at check-in. The garden patio is the place to be at cocktail hour or for dinner with friends, and in my case with clients who enjoyed it much. The room offers a lavish sitting area that could be called a junior suite in any luxury hotel. The bathroom was amazing with separate "his & hers" sink, and the shower of amazing size had a fog-free mirror allowing fine shaving and shampoo without being blind. How's that for details ! I almost forgot how relaxing it was watching the news on TV from your tub ... Overall I found it a very good value for that class of hotel, in a prime location, a good surprise actually .

Room Tip: Third floor rooms are very silent, the street view is fun and always full of action

I have always thought of the hotels in Paris as slightly stuffy... that was until this weekend when I stayed at the Mandarin Oriental - by far and away the best hotel in Paris.

The hotel is in a great location (Rue Saint-Honore), the rooms are spacious and well decorated, it has an amazing spa, pool, gym etc etc and FANTASTIC SERVICE

Great weekend - thank you Mandarin Oriental

What can be better in Paris than to stay on Rue St Honore, where the uber-premium shopping is, and just a stone's throw away from Place de la Concorde, Jardin de Tuileries and the Louvre? Some of the rooms and the entire terrace area have a fab view of the Eiffel tower too!

I loved my room, tastefully done in ecru and various shades of fuchsia. A beautiful flatscreen that detached from the wall and angled itself for perfect viewing from the bed, a bath tub with a TV screen in front of it, and a very cozily designed bathroom were the exciting amenities.

I was very touched by the thoughtfulness of the housekeeping staff, who brought in a bookmark when they saw I had left a book lying around.

The Camelia restaurant offers indoor as well as al fresco dining. I chose the outdoors of course and had a lovely breakfast in the sunshine on a brisk May morning. Dinner in the outside area can get a bit chilly though, especially if you're going to be out past nine pm in May as I was.

The bar, spa and the lobby are up to speed, in keeping with the fact that this is a relatively new hotel in Paris (less than a year old).

The concierge desk is really helpful and helps you plan your time in Paris very efficiently. Lots of options for kids too.

The price is certainly steep and I could only enjoy this stay as I was invited there on work! But for those who want a really luxurious stay in Paris, this one is a great option.
