My girl friends and I stayed at the Cayre for a get-away long weekend. The location was fabulous and the rooms and lobby seemed brand spanking new. We were so glad we chose the left bank, and this hotel was on a quiet patch of the Rue Raspail but close walking to many sights and restaurants. One of our friends whose room was on the first floor, did mention the noise and vibration of the subway when they were sleeping (but it was not noticible on our higher floor or when we were in the lobby.) By the second night they were used to it, one bought ear plugs. The street sounds were quieted by the sound proofing of the windows. There were two computers in the lobby for internet access, and a small gym (which is unusual for Paris) but who needs it with all the walking? All of the employees were cordial and spoke far better English than we did French!

I stayed at the hotel mid October with my family. We had 3 rooms on the 6th floor, 2 twins and an executive double were booked unfortunately the executive double although very spacious only had a view of the inner court yard and on checking out the rooms my sons were allocated my husband and I decided to forgo the double bed for their room which had the most charming view of the Eiffel tower, Parisian roof tops and roof top gardens – it even had a small balcony with decking, 2 chairs and a table. The reception staff were very helpful and re allocated the rooms so all the family were satisfied.. My daughters were given the room next to ours and had the same view – no balcony – but a bathroom with French windows and with modern facilities – they were in their element. The sons unfortunately got the raw deal a room without a view – but being boys were still happy to be in such a lovely hotel and they took full advantage of the internet access in the reception area and the gym.

All these winging reviews about the price of the breakfast – if you are content in paying the rate for the room do you think that a breakfast should come at a reduced price – why do people always want something for nothing. I was glad to pay that price for the breakfast which was served in spotless surroundings and was plentiful and it was a bonus that you could be served up to midday – great it you wanted a lie in after a day of sight seeing.

As for underground vibrations previously mentioned? Wouldn’t all these positive reviewers notice this? Wouldn’t we all be hanging on to grab rails in the reception area if the hotel location to the underground gave this bizarre effect to a bedroom on the second floor? I can honestly say as an unbiased traveller that there was no vibration from the underground. Would this hotel be given an official 4 star rating if this was the case?

The K & K is a lovely hotel – smart – modern – clean – good service (yes there is miserable bloke on the reception at night – but who cares there is always one person that you have to talk about on holiday - lol) – fantastic location for all the sights – surrounded by lovely shops – restaurants etc etc,

This hotel made our stay in Paris very special – I also could lie in my bed and see the twinkling of the Eiffel Tower at night – wonderful - I would return in a flash.

Just returned from 6 days in Paris...took my sister for her 40th. It was a return visit for me, and after a ton of research (much on this website) I decided to book the K &K Cayre for our stay. It had a 4ish-star rating (sometimes 3 sometimes 3 1/2???). I believe much of the rating to be due to added business travel-related amenities like a Business lounge and computer internet access etc.. I liked the idea that it had a restaurant (no one ever even spotted eating there...and breakfast...for $32 American dollars, you can have 8 breakfasts anywhere on the block). The Good: The hotel had recently been updated and renovated, I LOOOVE a clean carpet and duvet!!! The design was mod deco/scandanavian chic and the bathrooms immaculate and new! The Bad: Even though we checked in to a mostly empty hotel and payed extra for an upgreaded "executive" double...the room was on the first floor (right over the lobby) where the elevators and stairs met!!!. When I glanced at the floor "evacuation map" it also became clear it was one of the smallest. The ugly...Why didn't any of the hundreds of other reviewers mention that a major subway line runs under the hotel???????At least from our fine upgraded room on the 1st (read, 2nd) floor....we went down for a short nap after a red-eye flight, and found ourselves in that bad episode of "I Love Lucy" with the room shaking and vibrating under our bodies!!!!!!!! who writes these reviews???? employees?. Staff was plenty nice, location was outstanding (on the edge of the hopping 6th but slightly more residential). The shell station next door is your favorite place....with hot coffee, baguetts, cheeses, groceries and cheap wine and beer!!!! you'll stop there every day! The mini-bar is considerbaly cheaper than the bar downstairs...so grab your Heinekin BEFORE heading down to check you e-mails. LOved the "petite chaise" resatuarant around corner, and the food store at the "bon Marche" ( Gucci and unplucked chickens what a trip!!!) and great for gifts. I WOULD recommend this hotel, but only off-season at the reduced rate....and ONLY if you insist on a higher floor. Don't worry about bringing extra euros for French fashion purchases...with the Globalization of fashion ( Gap there...zara Here) there really isn't anything a fashion-savy shopper couldn't get here cheaper and nicer. Boutiques are VERY intimidating ( make shopping on 57th street feel like Target) with a VERY limited selection a "frowning on browers policy". save your money for food and wine (which is cheaper than diet coke!!!) Bon Voyage!!!!
