Great hotel. No complaints. 4 star and it showed being more glam than your standard holiday inn. Great location to gare de Lyon mainline. Few good restaurants around to boot. Surrounding area is a little run down but to expected being so close to a mainline station.

Stayed here 12+ months previously, immediately after a recent room renovation. Rooms remain OK, though carpets already need cleaning. Nonstop #4 bus route from CDG stops right in front of Gare De Lyon train station & METRO stop, only 1 1/2 blocks from hotel, which is very convenient. Like train station areas in all cities, it is a little shabby & worn looking, but nothing to avoid. My only complaint is that Senior Management seems to be clueless about "details" which are so important. You can hear bang, bang, bang from many rooms, which are not the fault of guests. The closet & bathroom doors simply do not shut properly in many rooms (like #406), without being forced. FIX the doors Management, so they easily open/close. All front desk staff we encountered were welcoming & pleasant & eager to help. A special thanks to Mikael for accommodating our room change request, & his recognition of a guest's IHG Platinum Elite Reward membership level. Another special thank you to the male Restaurant Manager, whose name we forgot to write down, who took immediate charge & responded to a housekeeping issue late one evening, even though it was not his responsibility. Note to housekeeping: if a guest puts a burned out light bulb on a desk, that means it should be replaced in the lamp. Don't simply remove it & then leave the lamp not-working for 4 days. Details. Overall a good choice if the area works for you.

Room Tip: Floors 1-5. Rooms ending in 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07, 08. They face the street with floor to ceili...

This hotel is very close to a main train station (Gare de Lyon)...you can see it from the entrance, one short block away. Also, Rue de Lyon is a main bus line. With the train station so close, there are many cafes and restaurants. Also, a full-service market is about 2 1/2 blocks away. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The Seine is also just a couple of blocks away. Apparently, European hotels rooms are not as large as American rooms, but this was roomy enough, with windows in the main room (bedroom) as well as the roomy bathroom (shower only, no bathtub) that actually open.

The best feature of this hotel is its location. Gare de Lyon station is a block away where you can get on a bus, international train, RER, and metro. There is also an Air France airport shuttle stop at this station that goes directly to the CDG airport for about the same price as the train (discount for paying online), and is faster (~40min) and much easier with bags than the train. There is a Carrefour grocery store 1.5 blocks west and the hotel is surrounded by restaurants. The rooms are modern just low on floor space. Some rooms have showers and others have tubs, but keep in mind no hair conditioner provided. The hair dryers have a very short cord for "safety reasons" making it difficult to use. I was unlucky enough to have a dryer mounted above the toilet, making it ridiculous. The housekeeping staff was very persistent to enter your room early in the morning, so use your Do Not Disturb sign! We often did not get our coffee refilled so were constantly having to track some down. The internet is free but requires a lengthy log-in process and kicks you off constantly, so good for limited use only. There is a free printer available in the lobby, which made it possible for us to buy museum tickets in advance and skip the long entrance lines, just have to decipher the French keyboard!

Room Tip: Top floor has very short ceilings so difficult to shower if over 5'5"

Good stay at the hotel. The only dent to the location is the sex shop that is right next to the hotel. Not good for parents traveling with kids.

The room was clean with good tv and access to a wide range of channels. The street has fairly good restaurants and is close to the Gare de Lyon which provides good access to various places for example there is direct metro to Musee de Louvre.

The check in process was fast and despite us arriving earlier in the morning the room was ready for occupation.

One other dent was that the corridor on the floor was always with cleaner's trolley the whole day and was hindering our movements especially with the kids. The kids seemed to be impressed.

No. No. No.

I was a little hesitant to stay at this property after reading some reviews about the sex shops and neighborhood, a bad experience at the Holiday Inn Elysees, and some email correspondence with the hotel about their overpriced breakfast, but it turned out to be a very pleasant stay. Because of my Platinum status, we did receive a room upgrade from “2 single beds” to a slightly larger than average, for this hotel, corner room with king bed. I forgot to write down the room number, but we were on a higher floor (not the top) in the L-shaped area (inside on the 90 degree angle) where the two lines meet so it was larger than most of the rooms but not the largest ones. It was very close to the elevator, but noise was never an issue. The view was nothing special except rooftops and the backs of apartment buildings but again quiet! Along with the bed, there was a chair with footstool, luggage stand, a desk with phone & radio (one problem was the clock reset every time the master electric switch was turned off since you had to put a key in there for electricity), plus a tv and desk and a small safe that did hold my mini-laptop. We received 3 bottles of water (2 still and 1 gas) plus a bottle of OJ. There was a coffee machine with 4 coffee packets provided. We had to ask for an extension cord which they promptly made available so that we could plug our breathing machines in. I made sure that we returned them the next morning as we were leaving to do errands so that we wouldn’t be charged. The bathroom was small but functioned well except no ledges or space to put stuff. There was a good shower but no tub. It had a nice rain shower head and also a hand held device for rinsing. There was also a toilet and sink, and typical Holiday Inn amenities (shampoo, soap, etc.) were provided. I used points to pay for the room and noticed that if one were booking a room (and paying), there was the option to choose an add-on for breakfast for 2 guests for 18 euro total. If paying at the hotel, it was 18 euro each, which was too much for what they provided. They either did not understand my question or were unwilling to let me pay for breakfast in advance at this discounted price so I found a restaurant called “Breakfast in America” 2 metro stops or about a mile (1.4 km) walk away. It was something different than we’re used to in Paris, and a separate review will be written on TripAdvisor.com. A major reason that we chose this location was that this was the mid-point of our European trip (first night in Paris after Berlin and Prague), and we wanted to do laundry, which we’ve never done before during our 30+ prior trips, because many times we just fly over for a long weekend! We were going to stay at the Holiday Inn CDG (Roissy), but they had no laundry (except sending out by the piece), and there was nothing to be found in Roissy. There were a few near the hotel, and we went to the one at 8 Avenue Daumesnil. It wasn’t very expensive, took a few hours, was safe, and set a precedent for future trips!
In summary, I liked this hotel and would stay there again. I am giving it a 4, which is a high mark for me. The people were mostly friendly (no one rude but sometimes standoffish), the room was a decent size for Paris hotels, the location was great, etc. etc. Merci!
