“Bad start, rooms hugely variable, great location”
Reviewed 23 May 2012

It is hard to know where to start! Was it good? Well the location is excellent, it could not be better located! But does this hotel deserve it's excellence status from Tripadvisor....I didn't experience this. On arrival my booking wasn't found, after presenting my hard copy of my confirmation it was found. I had booked a premier studio but asked if it was possible to look at a one bedroom apartment if it was available. I was advised that it was available and I could upgrade. So off I went to look at the two rooms. On the Internet the room pictures are light and bright and reasonably modern. The studio on ground floor I saw was dark, depressing and looked absolutely nothing like the rooms advertised online! To quote the reception, "madam the pictures online are not contractual" and let me say this is utter truth! So because I had paid in full with no refund option I took the one bedroom apartment on the first floor as it was marginally less horrible and much bigger than the studio. It was dark, depressingly old, the air con didn't work, the fridge didn't work, the cupboard was broken, the couch extremely old. after bursting into tears and considering checking out altogether and booking somewhere else my mother rang up and demanded to speak with the manager and demanded a room that had a working fridge and that somewhat resembled what was portrayed online!! This lead to us finally going to a third room on the fourth floor which was much better, lots of light and reasonably modern feeling and we were happy with this room. This was a 2hour experience and plain awful start to our trip to paris. There were many occasions where we felt the front desk either plain ignored us, answered us in French to an English question or were just plain rude. However there occasions where they were very pleasant and friendly....this was very dependent on who you spoke to. Other issues, the room was tidy but not overly clean, I don't think the window sill in our rooms had been cleaned in years, they rang asking me to pay for the upgrade on day 3. When I advised them I had paid it on day 1 they said they had no record of it (just like check in) and that there was FIVE messages in their system from another staff member requesting finalization of payment for our upgrade. So I went to the front desk with my receipt to prove I had paid, and by the time I had got there they found it (and he was v apologetic about it).
My advice is that if you stay in this hotel be aware that what you see on the Internet is only some rooms. Only stay on a high floor (we were on 4 and it was
good, lots of light) and I would book the best room you could afford.....we could not have stayed in the first two rooms we saw and were much happier in the third room shown to us and very happy to pay the extra 120euro per night for it (therefore we paid ~350euro per night). Service doesn't seem to be a priority for some staff either. Location is excellent, but perhaps a boutique hotel in the same area would be a nicer, friendlier experience.

We stayed here for several nights recently and found it an excellent place to stay. An apartment hotel with a space for breakfast downstairs it is right across the road from the river Sienne and surrounded by shops and restaurants. The Louvre is a few hundred meters away. We wandered around the area regularly during the day and at night and never had any issues.

We had a suite which was a good size with a small kitchen area with fridge and microwave and a fold out sofa in addition to the main bedroom. It also had all the required plates etc to eatin if you chose. It would easily take a family with one or perhaps 2 small children or even adults sharing.

The hotel is very well located, a few blocks away from Boulevard St Germain and Blvd St Michel. There are nice restaurants nearby, at Rue de Buci, Rue St Andre das Arts, Rue Saint Severin, Rue de la Huchette, Rue de la Harpe. There is also a convinient Carrefour express market 3 blocks away.
Regardind the apartment, it is standard, with basic furniture. It has a room, a livingroom with sofa bed for a third person, a little kitchinette with coffee maker, microwave and some dishes, and only one bathroom, but it has the toilet in a separate room and the washbasin and bathtub in another, which you could find a bit uncomfortable. In the lobby you can find complimentary cofee, tea and hot chocolate. All in all, I would recommend the apart if you need a third bed, if not the case, there are beautiful and romantic hotels which would be a better choice.

We booked a 1-bedroom executive suite for a one week stay. It was enormous! A large living room with two single sofa beds, and a separate bedroom. The small kitchen included a microwave, dishwasher and fridge, and all the dinnerware and cutlery we needed to eat in after a busy day. We even had a balcony over a quiet square. Traveling with two young kids, this was really important. While it wasn't cheap, the price was certainly competitive with other hotels of similar quality nearby.

The location is one of the best features of this property. It is located right along the river Seine, and some rooms have views of the river. It is in the middle of the Left Bank and lots of restaurants, bars, cafés, shops and boutiques, and it is adjacent to the Pont Neuf. Just a short walk to Notre Dame, the Louvre and Luxembourg Gardens.

The front desk staff were generally very helpful, especially Sophie and Mikael. The continental breakfast was nothing special, and at 21€ per adult, not worth it — better to go to the Carton café on rue de Buci nearby and grab a croissant or pain-au-chocolat. Free WiFi was nice, but very very slow in the evenings.

The hotel provided daily light cleaning (making beds, replacing towels, taking out the trash). The more thorough cleaning (vacuuming, cleaning up the kitchen) was twice per week.

Overall, this was a great base for a week in Paris, and we'd definitely stay here again.

Had a very enjoyable stay. We took a 'club' grade room to overlook the Seine. The room was a decent size by Paris standards. The decor is not new but it was clean and fine. The kitchen has everything you need to make a meal, and we really liked sitting next to the double window which overlooked the Seine. There is traffic noise with the window open because there is a busy road, but you can forgive it for the view of the river and the trees and Paris life going by

Breakfast is good - serve yourself boiled eggs, meats, cereals, bread, cheese, yogurt. The desk staff were very helpful and friendly throughout our stay. From here, you can stroll to Notre Dame, the Louvre, shops and restaurants in St Germain des Pres, and a bit further to museums like Musee de Cluny and Petis Palais. It is a bit expensive but well worth the money IMO and I would like to stay here again for the riverside location and convenience to Paris sights.

The size of the suite was great...the location was excellent..very convenient to popular sites and central hubs of public transportation. Having a kitchenette was also very convenient. The decor was average, but clean. If you a traveling with young kids, this place is what you want. I stayed in # 1708, where the main room was almost a cavern. Could have easily added two twin rollaways in addition to the sleeper sofa in there and still had plenty of space.
