“Tourist Central”
Reviewed 16 July 2014

If it's your first trip to Paris, definitely go see it, but definitely don't expect good food or reasonable prices at any of the cafés. The Champs-Elysées is like Hollywood Blvd or Rodeo Drive in LA, everyone wants to see it because it's in films, got big name stores, and it epitomizes the city. All famous brands are here and it is cool to go to the original Sephora or the flagship Louis Vuitton. I also love the branch of La Durée here, made famous by "Sex in the City".

Unfortunately that also means beggars work the streets, descending on anyone with shopping bags, and numerous con artists ask you to sign "petitions" as their friends pickpocket or accost you, so keep your valuables in the hotel safe. Thankfully the police patrol and when they show up suddenly all the marginal elements disappear. On the plus side, there are kind natives (yes Parisians!) who will help point you to the stores or the metro.

“From Le Louvre to the Arc de Triomphe”
Reviewed 16 July 2014

After some time in Le Lourve we walked down to the Arc de Triomphe, experiencing the beautiful stretch of street and toward the shopping mecca which is the Champs Élysées. It was a lovely walk through parks and passing historic buildings. I would say its a must do! Take in the sights and smells, grab a coffee on the way and immerse yourself in the surroundings. As you head down you will reach the impressive Arc de Triomphe. Plenty of photo opportunities on this stretch. Shopping is a bit pricey but if your wallet/purse can accommodate, then why not! Every designer label is there. If you are not a designer shopper, like me, then the sheer experience is the draw card.

The first time I walked alond Champs-Elysees I was really astonished by its size and magnificence. Nowadays I still find it impressive, but I prefer to confine myself in the first half of it, beginning from Place de la Concorde. In the second part you will find most of the shops that are situated in both sides of Champs-Elysees, from famous labels to small local shops and many places to eat, from expensive restaurants to fast-foods and pizzerias. It is nice to visit it in Winter when the lights are on and you will have a completely different impression in spring time with the green of the trees dominating the landscape.

This is where the heart of Paris lives. A shopaholics dream, with lots of wonderful cafes and incredible attractions, including the Royal Place. Paris was everything I had ever heard and a whole lot more..
