“Island Getaway”
Reviewed 4 November 2013

I recently rented an apartment here for my stay in Paris. I loved it because it is not filled with hundreds of tourists right outside your door. It offers a quiet stay, though the cruise boats can be heard playing Edith Piaf as they go up and down the river. On a Friday and Saturday night the locals are drawn to the river and you can hear a lot of merry making! Sunday afternoon sees lots of visitors strolling the Main Street, visiting the boutiques, eating Berthillion ice cream or dining at cafes. The bridge that links this island to Notre Dame becomes an entertainment area at night with buskers. There are various Metro stops that make your journey around Paris quite easy. The island has several food markets, boulangeries and fromageries. You don't have to go far to pick up some basics.

“The Paris you dream of”
Reviewed 4 November 2013

Beautiful and quirky shops, lovely cafes and restaurants, little bakeries and chocolatiers and all with a river setting. A walk away from Notre dame but a nice romantic part of Paris

“Precious”
Reviewed 3 November 2013

This neat little island is a tear in time. Quaint shops to poke around in. Intimate feel if you hit it right. Tiny space which can become overcrowded. On a sunny day, join the locals soaking up rays along the river.

Paris at a weekend is so hectic that the less visited, more Parisian Ile is a relief after the Ile de la Cite

“It has lost its charm”
Reviewed 30 October 2013

Ile St. Louis no longer holds that little charm it used to have, it's essentially just a street, but lot of boutiques have closed down. You may find Berthillon ice cream around the corner, but that's about it. It's often closed, if that's the case - Amorino is a good alternative (fairly priced too).
