In our quest to experience the historic bistros of Paris, we traveled to Montmartre and found La Renaissance. For us this proved to be a perfect destination: authentic in period detail (stained glass, frosted glass, dark woods, menu on a blackboard) with a waitress tres’ joli and great food: Turenne, again oeuf cocotte, lapin, pave du saumon, Compari, wine, and such people-watching! A pumpkin masquerading as a dress was funny to observe along with the general hustle-and-bustle of a neighborhood restaurant. Just what was hoped for a birthday celebration. Well worth the trip off the beaten path to find such good food and such neighborhood authenticity.
