“Entrance to the Louvre”
Reviewed 26 June 2014

What a sight! Smaller than the Arc de Triomphe but just as beautiful. This magnificent monument sits at the entrance to the Louvre and is the beginning of the Jardins des Tuileries.

“Again the magnificent human feat to pay the tribute to the Napoleon's Wars”
Reviewed 23 June 2014

At the exit from the Louvre and looking toward the Jardins des Tuileries, is located this imposant monument, dedicated to the military's victories, that Napoleon and his Grande Armee fought out in the previous years to the 1806 and 1808 when this gorgeous arc of victory and peace was erected. The arch consists of the two smaller vaults at the flancs of the construction and in the center there is a grand and main arch. On the top of the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel is the very nice Peace riding in a triumphal chariot. Around the Arc there are some Corinthian columns of the marble topped by the soldiers of the Empire. There is also the pediment between the soldiers with the basreliefs that say the story about the Arms of the Kingdom of Italy, the Arms of the French Empire.
You can go to the top of the monument, from where You will be able to overview the greater part of Paris. Really spectacular sight of Paris.

“A Treasure Outside the Louvre”
Reviewed 21 June 2014

This is a pretty little arch, situated just across from the Louvre at the entrance to the Jardins des Tuileries.

Although it's not a particularly ostentatious monument, it looks good in its setting between the great palace of the Louvre and its extensive gardens. The arch has columns made of rose-coloured marble and is topped by a bronze sculpture of a horse-drawn chariot.

Historically, it was sited at the entrance to the Tuileries Palace (which was lost in 1871) and it commemorates Napoleonic victories from 1805. These battles are depicted on the arch in the form of marble reliefs.

Not to be confused with the much larger Arc de Triomphe situated at Place de l'Étoile.
