“Baby version of L'arc de triomph”
Reviewed 29 July 2014 via mobile

Located outside the Louvre Museum there is this small version of L'arc de triomph (it is not the same one, but it was the nearest description that goes in my mind right now). Can take some good pictures from there avoiding obviusly all the random vendors roaming around trying to sell you 5 keychains for a Euro.

“Nice Stop on Way to Louvre”
Reviewed 28 July 2014

We walked through here on the way to the Louvre from the Tuelleries Gardens. It apparently was to serve as a gateway to the Tuelleries Palace, so that was fitting. It's a beautiful spot, but a little hard to take in with lots of vendors and such. There's a great picture to be taken of the Louvre pyramids in the foreground with the Arc.

“Beautiful monument”
Reviewed 27 July 2014

L'Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel is quite a beautiful and imposing monument. It is bigger than it looks on photo and the architecture, like most of Paris, is just breathtaking. The view going to the Louvre from le Carrousel is quite nice. Worth taking a closer look!

“Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel”
Reviewed 22 July 2014

The Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel is located in the Place du Carrousel, near the Musee du Louvre. It was built between 1906 and 1908.

During my visit this monument was surrounded by people selling souvenirs and people wanting to give guided tours.

The Monument is 19m high and consists of a high arch in the middle and two smaller arches to the left and right. There are eight marble columns around the exterior. Above each of the eight columns is a statue of a soldier from Napoleon's army.

At the top of the monument there are bronze copies of the "The Horses of Saint Mark's Square in Venice". The originals were taken by Napoleon from Venice. The originals were later sent to Venice after Napoleon's downfall after the Battle of Waterloo.

The arch contains several bas-reliefs. A bas relief is a sculpture technique in which figures/design elements are just barely more prominent than the (overall flat) background. The bas-reliefs present in the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel tell the story of Napoleon's military campaign.

I would highly recommend visiting this beautiful arch. In my opinion this site is under promoted.

“Beautiful arch”
Reviewed 8 July 2014

This clearly look very like the Arc du Triomphe, it's bigger 'brother' from the other end of the Champs Elyse. It is however a beautiful arch in its own right. The lovely horses at the top are (I think) replicas of the horses in Saint Mark's square, Venice. This is a lovely place to grab a coffee and enjoy the beauty of the Louvre.
