“Great Paris Location”
Reviewed 14 July 2014

I stayed here on a once in a lifetime mother-daughter trip and found it to be the perfect location. Our room was comfortable, the view of the Seine and Louvre outstanding, and we enjoyed a nice breakfast every morning before heading out to see Paris and the surrounding areas. Took a day to get used to turning in the old-fashioned key to the desk clerk, though!

Room Tip: Ask for a room up high to be away from street noise. However, with the heavy windows closed and blac...

There is no getting around it - this hotel is old and tired, the rooms are small, the dinning are is not the most welcoming BUT (and its a BIG BUT!) LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION!

The location is spectacular - to wake up to the sound of boats traveling down the Seine, stroll across to the Louve or down to the Musee D'Orsey or grab a Velib (free Paris bike system) from across the road to bike to the Eiffel Tower makes up for everything.

The rooms are no different to most hotel rooms in Europe and when you are in the City of Lights all you want to be is out there in all that culture and ambience! Price and location make up for facilities. Service is good, bed is comfy (but small) and all is clean and quite.

Room Tip: Higher floors and facing the Seine are the best (but you have to be prepared to climb the stairs as...

We have stayed at Hotel du Quai-Voltaire on three trips to Paris and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience each time. Easy walk to Musee D'Orsay, Louvre, Metro, good restaurants, etc. The staff is always patient with my attempts to speak French. The view of Seine and Louvre from guestrooms is worth the price of admission, which is reasonable enough.

Room Tip: Best views are from upper floors, but all are good. We had a problem with the early morning shuttle...

We have stayed here twice before, but this time was a huge disappointment. Yes it's close to lots of beautiful places in Paris, but there are newer, more up to date hotels close by who fit the bill too. The hotel has become worn down and is badly in need of some TLC, especially in the foyer and breakfast room.

Rooms are mostly tiny and those at the front are incessantly bombarded by traffic noise, but that's the deal when you book hotels on busy Boulevards. The double glazing works well, but the small rooms become claustrophobic when windows are closed.

The Reception Staff....well, some were helpful and kind, two others particularly stand out as automated robots, with not a smile to be had and help minimal. Now I know how boring and frustrating it is to always be dealing with the public, particularly those who don't speak your language, but that's the job they've chosen(or got) so a little bit more give on their behalf would be appreciated I'm sure.

No tea or coffee making facilities in the room is painful. On the day of our arrival about 3pm last Friday, my husband had to take the hire car back so whilst I waited downstairs the kind man on Reception made me a coffee. That meant a lot. On the other hand on the Sunday At about 1pm I asked for two coffees (happy to obviously pay) but this time I was told that all finished at 11am. I could have espresso otherwise nothing. We had nothing. Surely little things like this, which would help a traveller are important?

The hotel has many lovely backstreets and heaps of cafés surrounding it, but lacks any of the finer touches which could make it great once again. We won't ever go back, nor recommend it to friends as we have in the past.

As previously reviewed. This is the most amazing Parisian style hotel in the best location to the real heart of what Paris is about for visiting people like myself. The Seine and the Louvre on the doorstep. The double opening windows to fantastic views. The friendly staff and the beautifully clean traditional accommodation is what Paris is for me. The rates are very fair. I walked everywhere from this great location, and dined traditionally in the St Germain streets and cafes nearby. This truly is a fabulous place to stay and I will definitely be back. The front of house organised tickets to Crazy Horse for that day that I arrived over the phone within 30 minutes. So first night in Paris was with a great show as well. I have been meaning to write this review for a long time Last visit 2011 for 4 nights.

I almost hesitate to write this review of our favorite budget friendly (Paris standards) hotel for fear of losing our secret. If you do not appreciate the value of location and history then look elsewhere for a more modern place to stay. Our 4th floor balcony room overlooked the Seine with a view of the Louvre and river traffic which was amazing. Yes, the rooms have a quaint "patina" and the restaurant is lacking but who cares; after all, Oscar Wilde stayed here. We did not notice any street noise in the room with the double glazed windows shut. The Orsay, Louvre, metro station and St Germaine district are within walking distance.

Room Tip: Ask for a fourth floor balcony room overlooking the Seine.

The Hotel was good, the staff speak English and there is 24 hour cover on reception. Our room on the 2nd floor overlooked the Seine and the Louvre and was comfortable, the double glazing is very good and there is no traffic noise. There are a number of restaurants 2 streets away on Rue du Bac offering French & Italian cuisine. We used the Hop on Hop off Big Bus and the Batobus Hop on Hop off which stop opposite the Musee D'Orsay about 500 yards away. My husband has mobility problems and this enabled us to see all the main sights easily; there is also a Metro Station over at the Louvre. The rooms were serviced every day and the staff are very efficient except it could take some time to be served at breakfast if a number of people came down within a few minutes of each other. Reception ordered a taxi for us to travel to the Gare du Nord which was a great help. Our son recommended this hotel to us following their stay in January and it was a good choice.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the front on at least the 2nd floor.
