Hotel du Palais Bourbon

This hotel was such a let down. We had been travelling for a few weeks in Germany and Austria with great hotels, and then we came to Bourbon. Bourbon had been our most expensive room, which was understood because we were in Paris, but was by far our worst. We rented a room which they said was enough for two couples. What you get is a double room with a walk-in closet containing two tiny beds. The value here is bad enough to make me never want to return. Very far walk to the Tower and many metro stops away from anything else. Extremely unhelpful staff, very rude and confirming the French stereotype. We told them our TV wasn't working, as we wanted to see the results of the Eurocup, and after a half hour we had to call them again to remind them... When they finally came up they walked right into our room without knocking, hit some buttons on the remote, and said "Don't do again." Then we let them know that the bathroom ceiling was leaking making the light go on and off. They never fixed it the week we were there.

Room Tip: Don't bother with the family room

This hotel proved to be a good value and worthy of another stay in the future. We had a triple room that accomodated 3 adults. The rooms are a bit small, but they are clean, comfortable and a good value. The hotel was amazingly quiet. We never heard another guest and there was minimal traffic on the street. We stayed on the third floor and used the stairs for most of our stay. There is a small elevator. The bathroom and shower were among the best we have used in Europe. It was functional and well kept. There is a flat screen TV and a safe.

The hotel is located right around the corner from the Musee Rodin and a short walk to Napoleans Tomb. We found the location to be central to many attractions and very convenient. The metro stop Verrene is close if you chose to use the metro, we took it to several places throughout the city.

We happened to be in Paris during a heat wave. The air conditioned room was a blessing and kept the room cool and comfortable.

The hotel offered breakfast for 8 euros per person. It is essentially a continental breakfast that is a good value and quick way to start the day. You simply tell the desk the night before and they have breakfast ready for you in the morning.

The only thing we found unhelpful was the hair dryer in the room. If you require a dryer for your hair, bring your own.

There are numerous restaurants within a block of the hotel, Italian, Crepes etc. Many places are closed on Sunday's, so plan ahead. Two small markets are within a block of the hotel where we purchased bottled water for our room. There are also ATM's on the next corner. We had everything that we needed within a short walk.

The hotel staff were helpful when asked for assistance. We would stay here again.

Cute hotel that felt like a bed and breakfast. Close to train station, Invalides, and the Rodin museum, a nice walk to shopping on Champs-Elysees. The breakfast was nice. At first, we thought it seemed a bit pricey (and the description they give in the room makes it sound like you only get one roll when, in fact, you get a basket of pastries, cheese, fruit, cereal, various drinks), but compared to what was in the neighborhood, it was very reasonable. There were also two groceries nearby, which were good for buying drinks and snacks. My only gripe was the elevator, which was nearly worthless. However, the stairs were out in the open and safe, so unless you have a condition which forbids walking up stairs (in which case Paris may be a bad choice anyway), they were useable. Very friendly staff and cute room with a slight view of the Eiffel Tower.

Room Tip: Unless you're going to buy your own food and eat in your room, the breakfast is a good value.

It was really nice to stay at Hotel Bourbon, Metro station Varennes at walking distance (10 min.)
Room was clean and quite. Service was very good.
Unfortunatelly, no private parking, Vinci parking at "Invalides" was 33.00€ a day.

This hotel met the needs of our family of 4 during our stay in Paris

Pros
1. Location - close to a Metro stop, Orsay and Rodin museums
2. Spacious rooms which were well maintained with good A/C and accomodated our family of 4 well.
3. Staff was friendly and accomodating. We had to switch rooms on the last day and they moved the luggage for us which was a nice touch

Cons
1. Wireless was a little sporadic

Overall this was good hotel

Room Tip: our 4 person room on the top floor was much better

The clean, modern bathroom and well-kept bedroom was so appreciated by our family of 4. We saved, literally, $20 a day by their having instant coffee and an electric kettle in the room. The hotel is located on a lovely side street that has a good restaurant, 2 excellent bakeries, a grocery store, a fresh fruit and veg. shop, and an ATM on it, but is just minutes from the Rodin museum and a metro stop. Our son left his backpack in the lobby, and the staff sent it via DHL to our hostel in Oxford with the Ipod and Kindle intact. (We paid via credit card for the shipment, but we are so grateful for their honesty and assistance!).
