“I love this place”

This is my third stay at Hotel du Lys over many years, and it keeps getting better. Its location is superb, within easy walking distance of most of the great sites in Paris, the Metro and the RER. Yes, the room is small, but it and the bathroom were both very clean. And it was quiet enough for someone who is so picky about noise like me! Breakfast was perfectly fine for me, and the staff were most helpful. They even arranged for me to have breakfast earlier than normal on my departure day!

Maybe I'm being too picky, but: GREAT location. Great historic building, with good vibes, but my room (typical French hotel room) was rather small, with 3 single beds, but very little room to move around. When you have 3 adults in 1 room, it made it quite cramped. Since I don't spend much time in a hotel room, it was ok, but if you spend lots of time relaxing in your room, this wouldn't be the room to do it in. Nice petit dejeuner included. Limited selection, but more than adequate for me. No elevator but again, I knew that before. If you can't walk steps, stay away.
Would I advise staying here: yes as long as you are aware .

We had the pleasure of staying in the room on the very top floor. Just a forewarning to anyone that doesn't like climbing stairs -- you have to climb about 96 to get to the top! But who's counting? I don't mind the stairs but I can see where this could hinder others from enjoying this hotel. Staff is very friendly and breakfast is a good traditional French breakfast. Rooms are basic but all of your needs are covered. It is a good value for the price and location. And yes, just steps away from all the fun of the Rive Gauche and beyond!

After reading some reviews concerning the stairs, we (75 & 80 years old couple) sent an e-mail
asking for the room at the lowest possible floor. The answer came promptly with assurance.
The room is adequate, a little bit tired, but clean and the bathroom is modernized. Unfortunately
for me, I didn't ask specifically for the shower, so since their shower head is hand held, it was
a little bit awkward for me. The bed is very comfortable, the breakfast was quite enough, and the location is prime. For the price it's a bargain.

Let start with the stairs, they are not the best, covered with a carpet runner that actually slips under your feet so you have to be careful - armed with this knowledge you should now be good to go at Hotel du Lys. The hotel is a l lovely converted residence with high open beams and a old charm that doesn't look fake. The rooms are cosy and all that is needed for a trip to Paris as you should have so much do to that you spend very little time in your room. Breakfast is simple but enough to get you going, the chunk of bread is devine! The front desk is helpful. There is a small shop that is open late just around the corner (perfect if you arrive late and need water or a snack) and the metro is 2 minutes away with a 2 minute connection to Chatelet which is a good interchange hub. You also have a straight line to Montmatre and Sacre Coure. Notre Dame round the corner on one side, Pont Neuf and Pont des Arts on the other. Based on the price and location, this hotel does exactly what it says on the tin.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the stairs, a couple of them come straight off the staircase and room 5 is...

I almost did not book this hotel due to negative reviews, even after a reliable friend recommended it. Yes, the stairs were a challenge after walking Paris all day, the room was adequate, the front desk polite although not overly helpful, the continental style breakfast got us out the door, the room was noisy because we left the windows open, the bed was comfortable, and the location excellent. I could not ask or expect more for the price.
