“Lovely hotel, location and staff.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 January 2012

We stayed for 2 nights in early January 2012 at this hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a great location with cafes and restaurants at hand for that early morning coffee/croissant and that drink in the evening, easy walking distance to the restaurants of the Latin Quarter, the river and attractions of Paris such as Nostre Dame. Really easy to get to on the Metro from Gare du Nord. Our room overlooked the street - made it feel like we were part of the city and it wasn't noisy at all. Have read another review mentioning the small bathroom - yes ours was small but well lit, big window which also opened out to the street if you wanted, was clean and perfectly adequate. Heartily recommend this hotel.

My room was small but very clean. The bathroom is too small, there is no way to hang something and even the sink is too small to leave shaving accessories on it...
Nice and polite service.
Easy access to the center of the city.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view over the Arenes. Quite and nice view.

This is a really nice hotel. We have visited several times and always have received a warm welcome. It is easy walking distance from the metro, and not far from some really good restaurants. We have always been well looked after here, and enjoy watching the men play boule from our window on a Sunday morning.

Room Tip: We prefer to be at the back - You get big French windows overlooking the Roman arena.

We spent 2 nights at Hotel des Arenes, and it suited our needs perfectly. The free Continental Breakfast was perfect before a day of touring. The Hotel appears to have been recently renovated. There is Wi-Fi but at a cost, I think it was about 10 Euros for 24 hours. The Hotel is also located near many restarants, and is about a 10-15 minute walk to Notre Dame and the Seine.

I booked four nights in Paris through EzeJet, flying from Bristol. Not until after booking did I read some of the reviews of this hotel which we had selected because of its excellent location. The reviews were mixed,- some very good, some very bad and I worried that I might have done something stupid. One review suggested asking for rooms at the rear overlooking the Arenes, This was good advice and I wrote (in French) asking for two such rooms. The e-mail reply was quick and positive and so the hotel proved to be. Our rooms (59 and 53) were clean, freshly decorated and both had proper baths with showers over - a big plus for me. The rooms were relatively quiet, the staff were all friendly and helpful, breakfasting around eight o'clock we never found the room overcrowded. The location of the hotel is great - the ile de la cite and its Notre Dame are within comfortable walking distance as are Rue Mouffetard, the Sorbonne, the Jardin des Plantes, the Pantheon and plenty of brasserie type restaurants. Recommended. No reason not to recommend it.

Room Tip: Ask when booking for a room with bath at the rear, overlooking the Arenes.

I stayed there for nearly a week, and had a very small but nice room with a overview of the arena. The bathroom was clean, but they never changed the linen during the week, and the bed cover was dirty. I noticed several bites on my back when I left, but never saw any bed bugs in the room. The breakfast room was dark and unfriendly, and the man in the reception was very pushy and a little bit too much. Other than this, the hotel is in a great spot quiet in the weekends, but noisy in the week time. There is a much better hotel in rue Lacepede!

Room Tip: Be sure to get a room towards the arena. If not, try to book on 4th or 5th floor, the traffic is qui...
