“Good with a few hitches”
Reviewed 19 June 2014

The hotel is good for all the reasons that the other reviewers have noted. The rooms are nice, they are clean, ours at least had an excellent view. The location is terrific, with a close metro stop and easy walks to markets and the Eiffel Tower. The staff was nice enough. The only problem we encountered was that they decided to paint the lobby while we were there. This meant all the lobby furniture was covered, someone sanded so that dust was everywhere (and you had to walk through it to get in and out) and the paint fumes were really bad, and even came up to our room on the fifth floor. It was the off season so I suppose this is why we were the lucky recipients, but it was a problem and our complaints were like gnats, swatted away. So in all, the experience was a good one and the paint problem is one you are unlikely to see again.

We travelled from London by eurostar - a really good experience to then be greeted by a strike of the Paris taxis and some trains. Some roads were blockaded. After standing in hot sun for 3 hrs we reached the hotel...the luggage did not allow us to venture into the metro.

The hotel was in a good location, smaller than I thought but lovely.
My husband and I had a 'room with a view' (44) and my daughter and boyfriend had one at the back (17) which was a much bigger room.
Both rooms were very clean, a firm and very comfortable mattress and pillows. Our sleep was interrupted each night due to noise from the corridor.

The metro was extremely easy to navigate, very similar to the London Underground. The pre-booked 'skip the queue' tickets to the Eiffel Tower were interrupted by yet another strike - this time the tower security staff.
Apparently Paris is well known for it's strikes. After 3.5hrs it reopened and we enjoyed the fabulous views.

The Moulin Rouge was the highlight. We had a private box and were treated like royalty from entering the building.

Would recommend this area - up market and felt safe. Watch out for the scams in other areas mainly by Romanians which unfortunately affected several people in the hotel. Email me if you want more details.

Would definately stay at this hotel again.

We spent two nights here at the start of a week long trip. If you have light luggage, you can get here from CDG on RER Train and Metro (one train, two subways) and end up about half a block from the hotel. That trip costs less than 10 euros, our friends who took a cab spent 80 euros. But you have to deal with luggage in the subway! The hotel is well located walking distance to Eiffel Tower (10-15 min.), Invalides (across the street) and even Musee D'Orsay (20-25 min. and a lovely walk). The front desk service was either very attentive or very ditzy depending on who was at the desk. The room we had was a little strange, the bathroom was split in two (commode on one side of the room, shower and sink on the other side of the room) and no shower door which was a little strange too. Room was spotlessly clean and the bed was very, very comfortable. We did not try the breakfast (13 euros) and just walked nearby for less expensive coffee and croissants. Very helpful getting us a cab to get to Gare de Lyon for a train -- it only took 10 min for a cab to arrive (disclaimer -- we speak French -- not sure how it would have gone otherwise but assume it would have been okay). I would go back -- definitely a good option for Paris sight seeing.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of Invalides -- even though it is facing the street, the windows are grea...

My husband and l really enjoyed the hotel. The area was really quiet at night but in easy walk to the Eiffel Tower.

The hotel was clean, comfortable (beds a little hard though) and the staff were amazing. Very friendly and helpful. Our favourite restaurant in Paris was recommended by the lady at the front desk of the hotel. Could not of asked for anything better.

We will definitely be back and would highly recommend to others.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 52 next to lift, maybe choose another room, though it wasn't very noisy but no...

The hotel isn't massive, however it has everything you need for a city break. Great location for the Invalides etc, about a 10/15 minute walk to the Eiffel Tower, metro right on the corner of the end of the road which is perfect for going a little further a field. The rooms are only modest in size but are luxurious in there textiles. The breakfast is again quite basic and very typical of Paris, but it's a great way to start the day. Paris is a beautiful city to explore and this hotel provides the great base for it, it's not too up market where you don't want to leave the room because of the money you've spent but yet is beautiful enough to come back to in the evening to chill after a hard days site seeing.

Room Tip: Ask for a room over looking the Invalides! Gorgeous gold dome is a picture moment.

The location is great . You can walk to all major attractions. The staff was very helpful. we made an error in the date of our car pickup to the airport and the desk clerk arranged for a cab and every thing worked ok. Will stay here on future visits. rschofield8703@att.net

I selected Hotel de l'Empereur based on other Trip Advisor reviews. I wasn't sure what to expect, except I knew the 7th Arrondissement location was where I wanted to stay.

This small hotel is charming and exudes the Paris feel that I was hoping for; charming, spotless and well presented. Did I say that it is spotlessly clean? Our room (44) was a "romantic view" room with a view of the Invalides. Just beautiful! The hotel pictures are accurate. Because our room was on the end of the hall, it was one of of the larger rooms. Our traveling friends had the room above us (54) and it was a duplicate of our room. It was an oversized room by European standards. We loved the bed; it was cozy....not too firm nor too soft...juuuuust right for us! There is a separate WC/toilet from the bathroom. The bathroom (waterfall shower and sink) was sizable and not cramped. Everything was updated and again, spotlessly clean. Both the room and the bathroom had windows that opened. The city noise didn't bother us at all..we rarely heard the traffic even though our room faced the street.

There is a nice "common room" or lounge area just off the reception. It has comfortable sofas and chairs and is a perfect place to meet. The hotel's PC and printer is located in the lounge area just in case you need to print out boarding passes or check email. The entire hotel has free wifi and we had no problems connecting. We found the wifi signal to be consistent.

The 7th Arrondissement location of the hotel was the best; easy walk to two metros. Real close to the market street Rue Cler. We walked to the Eiffel Tower (about 10-15 mins); and just about everywhere from this hotel.

We opted for breakfast the last morning and found it to be a traditional european breakfast (breads/croissants, meats, cheeses, yogurt, etc). Nothing fancy, but plentiful and refreshed numerous times. Lots of fresh coffee and hot water for tea.

The staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful, especially the gentleman who greeted us at check-in. (Didn't catch his name).

There is no iron/ironing board in the room. In fact, there is a sign on the inside of the closet that says ironing in the room is not permissible (nor eating in your room). They have an ironing facility set up downstairs if you have the need to press or de-wrinkle your clothes. Not sure why an iron/ironing board is not available/permissible in the room, but it's not a huge inconvenience to go downstairs to iron.

Coffee making facilities are also not available in the rooms, but there is coffee available downstairs 24 x 7. Just ask at the front desk and they'll gladly make a pot for you.

All in all, we loved this hotel; it has become our favorite for location, charm and cleanliness!

Room Tip: upgrade to the romantic view room, and ask specifically for room 34, 44, 54 or 64, which are larger...
