“Not a fan of small hotels - but this one is the exception”

I usually stay in large full service hotels when in Paris. However, ventured out to the Saint Louis I'isle and found both the hotel and neighborhood to be the "real" Paris. Hotel is close to pastry shop, butcher, cheese shop, cafes, excellent restaurants, everything needed for a great vacation. 10 minute walk to the Marias, Notre Dame, Latin Quarter, Maubert Markets, etc.

The hotel is very reasonably priced. We had two rooms, I recommend room 212 which is a very large room with a winding staircase up to a sitting area, with King bed. Exposed beams and skylights make it bright. All amenties including large marble bathtub, free wifi, lovely bath products, robes, etc Hotel staff, especially Theirry, are very friendly and helpful. Loved this place, and will recommend to all my friends and co-workers. .

Room Tip: Ask for 212 -- large with sitting area, lots of storage, skylights, beams and winding staircase

The hotel was just perfect! I lived in Paris for 2 years previously & was returning for a short business trip. So I was picky on location - and knew that Paris hotels were often expensive for quite dowdy rooms! The Saint Louis en L'Isle is on the lovely 'Isle St Louis' in the Seine, right in the centre of Paris near to Notre Dame, the Marais, St Michel. Everything is within short walking distance & there's several metro stations nearby & the train line b direct to the airport. Lovely cafes on the square at the end of the road, cute shops, nice places to just be in Paris! The room was clean, well equipped, modern, not noisy & a good temperature! Large shower, big bed, exposed beams, lots mirrors... I've read other people's comments that the rooms were small but there were 2 of us & we didn't find this at all! High ceilings, 2 large windows, a writing desk, double wardrobe, space around the bed - no problem! We loved it

We stayed there for the location. Overall a good experience but the room was tiny you could hardly stand by the bed. Most importantly the light in the shower was quite exposed and didn't seem very safe. The location is great but with the room being so small you felt you were sleeping in the bathroom. Also the water in shower did not drain quickly enough so we had to take breaks in the shower in case we got water in the room. The bed was a bit tough and if you have problems with noise it can be a bit noisy. On the plus side the guy in the reception offered to give us some of his toothpaste when we told him we forgot ours at home!

Room Tip: room 303 is tiny

If you are looking for a large luxury hotel, with spacious rooms and jacuzzi, this is not the place for you. Here you'll find a small hotel full of charm and atmosphere, but nonetheless comfortable and well equipped. The rooms are tiny and beautiful and the hosts are very friendly. Moreover, its location within the Isle Saint-Louis is simply perfect, with many bistrots and nice shops in the vicinity.
Just one defect: the breakfast, not included in the price of the room, is perhaps too much expensive (€ 12 per person).

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Saint Louis primarily for its perfect location as a starting out point for exploring Paris. The hotel couldn't have worked out better. The rooms were definitely on the smaller side (at least ours was) and the bathroom was tight as well. However, what an experience it was to open our shutters and lean out the windows overlooking the foot traffic of Isle St. Louis. This place offers great value for its location and I'd highly recommend it.

Ile St Louis is my favourite place in Paris - we'd spent a few hours exploring on our last trip to Paris and decided we'd definitely stay on the Island if we visited Paris again.

The hotel is in a great location - our room was small but perfectly formed. Couldn't really ask for anything more.

Would definitely stay here again, for the location if nothing else!

Hotel Saint Louis en I’Isle
Paris France

Paris is just about our favourite city.
We have stayed in all of the quarters but still come back to “Hotel Saint Louis en I’Isle” for that classic Paris stay, and we have decided that for the remainder of our time on the mortal coil that is where we will stay. The island delivers the quintessential Paris experience and as with all major cities it is all about “location”.
The Hotel Saint Louis en I’Isle has recently been renovated and from our last stay 3 years ago the “reno” has given this small hotel a new lease of life. The reno has been sympathetically done with regard to the age and the history of the building.
The hotel is our accommodation, nothing more, but the good thing is that it is close to the metro and the island has enough diverse restaurants to satisfy all tastes. The top floor room of the hotel boasts a glimpse of Notre Dame from its balcony. You have to be pretty friendly in the lift and your luggage will probably have to go on its own. The staircase is also steep and narrow.
But all of this just adds to the complete experience
To try and paint a picture of the street that this hotel sits in.......
- It is narrow with one way traffic
- It has a classic old school French deli
- It has a small stacked to roof “French style general store”
- It has a new trendy ice cream deli
- A number of small specialist fashion and gift shops but not in the overwhelming tourist style
- It has numerous restaurants pretty well all French cuisine
- A corner cafe which sits looking over the Seine... a bridge...Notre Dame etc etc
- It has a really old church/chapel “something” that we just stumbled on, as I pushed open a massive wooden door and there it was, extraordinary
- The latest Denzel Washington film was being shot outside the hotel whilst we were there so that should also paint a picture of the actual street
-
If you look at a map of Paris you will understand what we are saying, the island is pretty much in the middle, a great launching pad to explore the city. But remember Hotel Saint Louis is a small boutique hotel, classic French ambience, the rooms are small, the bathroom is small, but what this hotel including the area, does to enhance your time in Paris is amazing.
It is just the best place.....in our opinion
