This hotel is neither better nor worse than any other 3-4 star Parisian hotel. All rooms are small and the staff don't speak much English - that seems to be the norm everywhere in Paris. So learn a few basics in French and you'll be fine. The Opal is close to the Madeleine which is beautiful and the shops surrounding it are great with lots of delicatessen and good clothes shops as well. So location for the Opal is fine. It's pricey but everywhere in Paris is expensive.
