The best hotel in Paris by far. It is in an absolutely perfect location. About 30 seconds out of the door you are greeted with a plethora of cafes and restaurants as well as the Saint-Michel metro station. In addition to all of this, connected to the hotel is a very nice Italian restaurant. The room I stayed in was a perfect size with a wardrobe, bathroom w/shower and a TV with loads of international channels (over 200). The only issue with this hotel is that there are no locks on the loo doors but hopefully you wont be staying with someone who respects your privacy! The rooms are absolutely silent at all times of the day because it is just of a main street. Couldn't recommend this hotel more.

Room Tip: Rooms that face the inner walls are marginally quieter. All rooms have great air conditioning. Wifi...

We stayed at this hotel for a weekend trip (two nights). This hotel is perfect for a weekend trip. The location is wonderfull. It is in a small pedestrian street just off St-Michel square (which is less than five minutes walking from Notre Dame). Altough it is next to the busy and loud square, the hotel was very quiet. We loved the history of the hotel and how they incorperated this into the hotel. The downside is that the rooms are quiet small, sufficient for a weekend trip, but I can imagine that if you are staying there for longer, or have huge luggage the room, might be little to small. Also they made a desing error in the bathroom. They shoudl have opted for sliding doors instead of the glas divider at the shower (design over practicallity)
We had twin beds, which slept great. The staff was very friendly. The tv was great (large selection of tv channeld, which could be selected by country, plus info like weather and the like), although we did not use it that much. At the first night we got a small bottle of champagne, we loved this little gesture. We did not have breakfast, thus I cannot comment on that.

We found the location of this hotel to be perfect for our first trip to Paris. The small pedestrian only street is steps away from Place St Michel which is always busy & buzzing with activity.
Yes there is a homeless man at the end of the street, he came & went twice during our week long stay. He is harmless,he never approached us and was usually sleeping when we passed by. We saw a few homeless people in the Latin Quarter, none we're begging but were obviously homeless with all their belongings next to them.
I liked coming back to our quiet little street after a day exploring Paris, while still being in the centre of the Latin Quarter & St Germain. Our room had a street view on the 1st floor & I can honestly say we only heard a faint noise from the bar across the road once. We slept with the windows closed, noise could be an issue with the windows open.
It was an easy walk to so many attractions, Sainte-Chapelle, Notre Dame, Isle Saint Louis, The Seine are only minutes away. The Louvre, Tulleries Gardens, Musee D'Orsay, Luxembourg Gardens, The Pantheon can all be reached by foot in 20 minutes or less.
St Michel & St Michel Notre Dame metro stops and the RER train station to the airport are all around the corner in Place St Michel.
Cross the bridge to the other side of the Seine and walk through the beautiful Marais district, so close but so different to the Latin Quarter.
Our room was a bit smaller than I expected, but I think they used the space available wisely. Eg,There was a small set of shelves in the corner next to the wardrobe that was handy.
We had 2 large suitcases as well as 2 carry ons, we found places to put them out of the way. Mine went on the luggage rack under the window, my husband unpacked his then put it out of the way behind the door & the 2 carry ons fitted next to the bedside tables. Once the luggage was sorted we found the space quite comfortable. We had a very large queen bed with a super comfortable mattress & pillows, there was only just enough space between the end of the bed and the wall to get past, but there was ample room on both sides of the bed to comfortably dress.
The very large flat screen TV was an odd choice for a small room, watching TV was a bit like being at the cinema. It still makes me laugh when I think of it.
The small bathroom was functional, the only thing I disliked was no door on the shower, it had a fixed glass screen half way across.
The air conditioning was quiet and worked well.
Good free Wifi
The staff always greeted us when we were coming & going, they were non intrusive but helpful when we needed advice.
In short I was happy with my hotel choice it had been recently renovated but still retained some charm, everything was new, clean & in working order. The location was perfect, we were able to easily see a lot of Paris including a trip to Versailles in a week. We like to stay in small hotels when we travel rather than a large chain, if your preference is a large chain hotel, this hotel would probably not be for you.

Clos Notre Dame can be first recommended for its location - located right at Place St. Michel, it is only moments from Notre Dame cathedral and Ile de la Cite, St. Germain is all around, and public transportation is just around the corner. the building is a narrow, typical old Parisian building that has been totally renovated and modernized. the rooms are quite small, as are the bathrooms (though I don't feel this is uncommon for Paris). despite their size, the room was very comfortable with a softer-than-typical bed (not that I want a water bed, but so many european beds are very hard) and nice selection of pillows. my room overlooked the street, and as mentioned in another review, there is a bar across the street which could cause issue for light sleepers (which I am not - plus, with the window closed, it wasn't a significant issue). the bathroom was light and clean, and the shower was comfortably sized (again, not huge, but I've had smaller showers in bigger bathrooms). the desk staff was always friendly and pleasant. breakfast is served in the little 'living room' (replete with artificial fireplace) just behind the front desk, and while the selection was not huge, the food quality was good and items were fresh. overall a pleasant stay - but if you're not comfortable in smaller rooms, or you're a light sleeper, it may not be the hotel for you.

Clos Notre Dame is in the heart of Saint Michael, and close to everything. We were just steps from the Metro and the RER. and blocks from Notre Dame, the Louvre, and de Orsay museums. The staff were very helpful and the facility was very clean and modern. That being said the rooms are tiny, and the bathroom was smaller than a standard American closet. Also, even with soundproof windows there is a bar across the street that stays loud until very late every evening.

Room Tip: If you go, get a courtyard view. Otherwise you will hear the bar across the street all night.

We have just returned from our stay at Clos Notre Dame.
I have been to Paris 25x. I have never paid such an extortionate price and stayed in such a horrible hotel.
I have stayed at the Sheraton, the Pullman, the Mercure, the Timotel, the Ibis, the Moderne...............
Booking.com misguided us at the least and gouged us for sure. The Clos Notre Dame is listed as a 3 star hotel, excellent hotel. There are no 3 stars in site-not on the building, paper work, stationary.....
We do not travel with a laptop. We don't have a smartphone. We booked back in May or June. We were unable to contact you on the spot. We did complain when we arrived and were told nothing could be done till at least the afternoon of the second day. We changed rooms the second day. The room was not any bigger but the bathroom vent was not caked with filth. The only large item in the room, is a wall picture that hangs above the bed and is as large as the bed.
The hotel is located on a short alley with stairs at one end. The taxi could not go down the "street." There was a bum daily near the steps leading to Place St. Michel and the alley smelled of urine and was littered with trash. This is what you must walk past to get to Place St. Michel.
When you enter the miniscule hotel, there is no counter-just a small table 2 feet by 4 feet with a clerk and a computer.
To get to the elevator, you must walk UP 5 steps. When you get to your floor, you must walk DOWN 5 steps. The hotel is so narrow, there are only 3 rooms on the floor. There should be only 1 room on a floor as the rooms have room for only a bed ad a stool. The hallways sloped severely. THE FLOOR IS BLACK AND IT IS VERY EASY TO TRIP ON THE SLOPE. THE BLACK FLOOR OF THE ROOM ALSO SLOPED DOWNWARD. I have never seen anything this crazy. The room is very, very tiny even for Paris standards. The vent in the bathroom was filthy! There were no amenities to speak of.
There was 1 and 1/2 bottle of shampoo/gel. That is it! For a three star hotel???? (We stayed at the Moderne St. Germaine, a 3 star hotel just a couple of streets away. It was 100.00 USD a night LESS with a nice breakfast and it had a large room with slippers, shower cap, vanity pack and shoe polish cloth.)
This was our 10th anniversary. (We are in our 60's and 70's) It was very important to stay in a perfect hotel. We communicated the importance to the hotel by email before our stay. We were willing to pay such a steep price for our 10th anniversary stay in Paris. Booking.com listed this is an excellent hotel. It is not worth 150.00 USD a night! This is not even a 2 star hotel!
The only positive of this hotel is the staff that tried to help from the second day on but there was nothing that could help this disastrous, sad experience in the AWFUL Clos Notre Dame.
We were charged 980 euro for four nights without breakfast-over $340.00 USD per night for this hole in the wall.
I have never paid so much for a hotel anywhere in the world and have been so disgusted and unhappy for four nights.

We understand that you were not looking at all for this of cosy hotel in a quiet street , but rather for a chain hotel with a large number of standardized rooms . Le Clos Notre Dame is a boutique hotel or hotel de charme in French : the building was built by King François the 1st in the 16 th century for his favourite Anne d Etampes , and part of the hotel are classified. It was entirely renovated and opened in may this year , after construction of a lift ( it s true a few steps have to be climed to take the lift ) , and decoration on the Renaissance period ( 16th century) theme by the famous designer Laurent Maugoust . The paintings you noticed in the rooms were bought ( right of reproduction ) from the museums and represent the various favorites of King François.
That creates a special atmosphere that our clients generally love , as you may read on other comments.
The rooms are all above the 3 stars minimum of 13.5 sqare meters , and the hotel is officially a 3 star hotel . Some advisers thought we could apply for 4 stars , but we preferred to offer a good 3 stars level.
All furniture , beds , bathrooms are new , installed this spring . Shampoo, sower gel and shoe shine are offered in the bathrooms , tea and coffee are offered in the rooms . 160 TV channels are available on the large screen TVs , of which many from North America.
Most clients appreciate the fact it s situated in a very lively area , close to Place Saint Michel , Notre Dame and Saint Germain des Prés , but also in a quiet street , with no trafic !
We regret you didn t like the product and nevertheless hope to have the pleasure to welcome you again.

We recently stayed at this hotel for the Paris leg of our honeymoon. We booked the hotel only 10 days before arriving as we were let down by our original accommodation and we were very pleasantly surprised. Having got to Paris and the general location of the hotel, I was glad that we had looked it up on Google maps before going as otherwise I think we may have been a little stumped! Upon arrival, we were greeted by reception staff who spoke English and informed us that as a gift for our honeymoon they had arranged a bottle of champagne that was bought up to the room.
Our room was well decorated with a huge flat screen TV and a very nice bathroom. The only minor complaint was the size of the room itself. With only two of us staying in it, there was very little room to manoeuvre and add into the equation two huge suitcases and it made things very difficult indeed. Having said that, we spent very little time in the room itself and much more time exploring Paris!
The area is crammed with restaurants, beautiful buildings and 2min walk from the Seine. On the way back to the hotel in the evening there were often a couple of suspect characters talking to one another but we never had any trouble - apart from being asked for a cigarette! Also great access to the Metro (however, not sure if it was the time of year or planned works but the closest station was shut over summer)
Italian restaurant a couple of doors down was also very nice!
All in all, nice hotel just off the beaten track - would stay here again on a trip to Paris!

Room Tip: Look hotel up on Google maps before leaving!
