“Comfortable room, good location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 June 2012

We spent 7 nights at this hotel which is located on Boulevard St Germain. The location is quite central and took us only 5 minutes to reach from the St Michel de Notre Dame metro station (which is located near Notre Dame). We arrived in Paris via Orly Airport and took the metro station directly to St Michel de Notre Dame (you have to switch metro at Anthony station). It was easy to travel around paris because there is an efficient metro/RER station. The metro station is located just 2 minutes away from the hotel. Even if you want to walk to certain attractions such as Louvre you could because they are around 20 minutes walking away. (The Eiffel Tower however is around 1 and a half hours walk, so take the RER or metro to go there).
Next to the hotel there are a couple of supermarkets (one is just infront of the hotel), and a bakery is next to the hotel from where you can buy delicious French baguettes. Just 10 minutes walk away from the hotel there is the Latin Quarter which is full of restaurants and souvenir shops, and a nice place to stroll around in the evening.
We were very pleased that they gave us the hotel room with the view we requested (facing an old small church). The room although a bit small was very comfortable and modern. We had a tea/coffee making facilities and a modern nice bathroom. It was cleaned daily, and even the bedsheets were regularly changed. We had a minibar which is very convenient even to put a small drink.
All the receptionists were very polite and helpful, and spoke good English. Next to the reception there is a cosy lounge where you can relax or wait for your room. In fact we left our luggage there since we arrived a little bit before the check-in time. Although we paid an average of 150euros a night for a comfort room (which is higher than we usually pay for other hotels in other countries), we do not regret it since we were happy with the room and hotel and we got the value for our money. If we had to visit Paris again we would surely choose this hotel again.

Room Tip: Choose a room on Boulevard Saint Germain facing the small church and on higher floors to get a nice...

We spent 2 days at the hotel and it had everything we needed. The air conditioning was good, quiet and cold which was a MUST since the weather is already 90 deg F. in Paris in May. The location is perfect for seeing a lot withing walking distance, with access to a metro station and numerous bus stops. The restaurant next door (to the right, facing the hotel front door) had excellent French fare at very reasonable prices. The hotel recommended it. The room was extremely clean and not as tiny as we had feared. We had plenty of room to move around and the bathroom was all updated, modern and roomy enough, with lots of hot water. We read other reviews and did not buy the 12 Euro breakfast at the hotel. We went to 2 different outdoor seating cafes on St. Germain and had our French coffee (like double espressos) and Pain Chocolate. They were both good choices. The farther down the block you walked from the hotel, the cheaper the breakfasts. The lift was typically small so we had to go up with our luggage individually. It was not a problem. We thought the traffic noises would bother us, but they quieted down every night and it wasn't an issue. I would definitely book this hotel again.

My husband and I spent the first few days of our Paris trip at the Le Grand Hotel near the Opera and moved to the Abbatial for the duration of our stay. Our room at the Le Grand was enormous compared to our room at the Abbatial but despite it's small size, our it was clean, comfortable and not without charm. This was not our first visit to the Abbatial and it was as welcoming as we had remembered it to be the first couple of times we were there.

While it was lots of fun to be in the hustle and bustle of the Opera district in Paris, it was so lovely and much more quiet when we moved to the Abbatial and the Latin Quarter. The location is perfect. You can walk to almost everything (which I'm pretty sure we did!) There are fabulous restaurants, great shopping, conveniently located metro stations and markets.

Our room was a lot like a cabin on a cruise ship. There was not a lot of space but none of it was wasted. I love the new decor. It is very modern and smart. Despite the size of the room, the bathroom was a good size and the shower was amazing.

The one downside is the teeny, tiny lift. You can barely fit 2 people in it, let alone a suitcase! I used the stairs most of the time and sent my luggage up on it's own. Press the button, run up the stairs to catch it at the top!

The staff is wonderful. Especially the gentleman concierge who worked during the day. If you are looking for comfort and value and a grand location from which to explore the city of Paris, you can't go wrong with this hotel.

Room Tip: Higher floors have better views and less street noise.

This hotel has a great location and a reasonable price. The rooms are small but very clean and the staff is accommodating. I have stayed here many times and will stay again. The locationwhich is close to Isle St Louis and Notre Dame are beyond compare. There is a Tues - Sat market nearby, good restaurants, an incredible fondue store, cheese shop, etc.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms on the Bernardin side.

My mother and I just got back from a 5-night stay at the Hotel Abbatial Saint Germain and we LOVED it! This was my 4th trip to Paris and I've stayed in several different areas, but this was one of the best experiences I've had. I knew that hotel rooms in Europe are much smaller than what we're used to in the United States, so we opted to pay a little more for a Deluxe room and I was so glad we did. We had a corner room with 3 windows and an amazing view. The bathroom was surprisingly spacious as well. The hotel staff were friendly and very helpful. The location is amazing - a few minutes walk to Notre Dame and Ile St. Louis. There are some lovely little shops nearby and several reasonably priced (for Paris) restaurants around. Maubert-Mutualité metro stop is only a short walk away and we used that a lot. The hotel offers a nice breakfast downstairs run by a delightful woman. I wish I'd gotten her name. All in all, I was very pleased with everything about the hotel and its location for what I consider to be a reasonable price. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because there were some noisy renovations going on at the hotel at the time which was frustrating at when we tried napping during the day. However, I would not hesitate to stay here again on my next trip to Paris.

Room Tip: We had three windows facing the busy Boulevard Saint Germain, so it was a little noisy, even with th...

We stayed at Hotel Abbatial for 3 nights in March 2012. We had a superior double room but was small. That was not a surprise as we expected the room size. Room was cleaned everyday. The bathroom was in good condition and the free toiletries had pleasant scent. Our room had a small balcony with a view of the Pantheon and of the Eiffel Tower (that is if I stretched a bit forward). The staff were friendly and helpful. They booked our airport transfer to CDG for 36 euros (couple) Hotel was being refurbished during our stay. There was free wi-fi. Hotel was a good walking distance to Notre Dame, Sorbonne University, Pantheon, Luxembourg Garde, St Severin Church. It was close to train stations Maubert and Cluny. There were reasonable priced eating places around St Severin as compared to those along Blvd St Germain - almost half the price. During our weekend stay, there was a small market across the street - quite interesting to browse around. This hotel is a good base for visiting various places in Paris.
