We have gone many times over the years to this lovely restaurant located in front of the gold-domed church at the Invalides where Napoléon is buried. The food is consistently good, the fixed-price menu for three courses has a nice selection of dishes and is well-priced for Paris where you can pay a lot for a not-so-great meal (it includes a kir before and a choice of a bottle of water or wine for two) , the staff is pleasant, polite and attentive and we have never been rushed through the lovely evenings we have spent there as a couple, with family including younger children, and with friends. Good food, good service, beautiful location in a beautiful city, and the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion.

Laid back French dining - don't expect fast service as that is not the traditional way - we both had a superb salad for lunch - ?17 for a huge house speciality salad that neither of us could finish - they were more than accomadating leaving out ingredients that we didn't like and bought a bowl of water out for our dog - fabulous way to spend a sunday afternoon

If you like the raw meat with the herbs, this is the place. Kids menus 19euro, so not cheap, but a great view of les invalides.

Staff is okay, French, but okay for Parisian standards.

We had lunch at Le Vauban back in May 2011 with our tour guide. It was one of the best meals we had in Paris.

It was a beautiful sunny day. We asked for a table on the terrace and was seated right away. It was the perfect location with the best view of Les Invalides. The servers were very attentive and the food was exceptional. I had the "Trio of Fish" (which consisted of sole, monkfish, and striped bass) which was topped with the best buttery cream sauce I have ever tasted. It brought out the flavors of the fish which was sautéed perfectly. My husband had what I remember to be a steak frites with and herb butter compound and crispy thin fries. He loved it! After finishing our meal, we each had a cup of espresso while soaking in the atmosphere. The little chocolate candy that came with the coffee was the perfect ending to a wonderful meal.

It was a very memorable visit. We will definitely go back to Le Vauban on our next trip to France. Yes, it was that enjoyable. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for that true Parisian café experience. It was well worth the visit.
