“Had a lovely stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 March 2012

Just back from Paris (late on Tuesday 20 March 2012) and felt I had to write a review on this hotel. I had read the reviews before going - this was a Groupon deal, 3 night stay for me and my husband. The reviews I read were ranging from very bad and quite off-putting to very good. I was dreading what we were going to be faced with on our arrival after reading the reviews, now after being there, I honestly do not know what some people want! This hotel is advertised as a 4 star. It certainly isnt 4 star. It is however, very clean and tidy. Beds are made every day, clean towels are left. Constant hot water (be very careful as the water is EXTREMELY Hot). The staff were more than helpful, any question asked was answered in a friendly and pleasant manner and we were never made to feel a nuisance. The hotel is about a 20 minute drive from the Champs Elysse - bus stop right across the road (no.31 bus, costs 6 euro 80 cents for x2 day return tickets) Around the area there are lots of little bistros and cafe bars. Prices very reasonable. Centre of Paris is about 20 minute journey or an hour walk (gentle stroll taking in the sights)
This hotel is ideal as somewhere to go back to to sleep. Breakfast is self service buffet style continental breakfast consisting of fresh fruit, flavoured yoghurts, cheese, salami, ham, cereal, fresh bread, croissants, fresh fruit juice, tea and coffee and scrambled egg and bacon. There was no limit as to the amount of breakfast, just keep going up until your full! It was delicious and very fresh every day. The only critisicm I have is there is no tea/coffee facilities in the room. Coffee was available upon request at reception BUT by early evening this sometimes wasnt available. It would be better if there were facilities in the room.
My overall view is that if you are looking for somewhere clean and tidy and friendly to just go back to after a busy day sight-seeing then go to this place. If you want your holiday to be spent inside a hotel then dont go here and go to the more luxury hotels (but why would you want to spend all your time in a hotel) This was the first time in France for me and my husband if we ever go back to Paris we would certainly consider going back to this hotel. All in all Villa Eugenie is a lovely hotel, clean, tidy and staff are very friendly. If you want somewhere where you can get back to in the evening after a long day sight-seeing to rest your weary legs and get some shut-eye, then get up on the morning to a lovely breakfast then I certainly recommend this hotel. Also if you can, phone the hotel in advance and book a taxi to pick you up from the airport. Its cheaper! A taxi from the airport will cost around 50 euros, whereas the taxi from the Hotel is 34 euros for 2 people. We didnt know this and got a taxi from the airport to the hotel. We were met by a barrage of men at the airport asking if we wanted a taxi - they were not legitimate taxi's, but straight out of the door there is a line of legitimate taxi's - get one of these if you must. We booked a taxi to take us back to the airport it came direct to the hotel and took us direct to the airport. If you are wanting a meal at the airport before your flight home - get your meal as soon as you enter the airport - once past pass-port control there are no restaurants etc there. We made this mistake, checked in our bags early and went straight through passport control thinking we would get a meal in a restaurant once through, OH NO - no restaurants, just duty free shops and a small cafe bar selling sandwiches. You can check your bags in and then head for one of the many eating places, get a meal and then go to passport control - just thought this might be useful for you to know :-)

just got back from paris, felt i had to write this and defend the villa eugenie, read reviews before leaving and didnt want to go, dont know what the critical people want ,quaint boutique style hotel rooms, staff friendley and helpful. lovely and spotless, bathroom spotless big bath and lots of hot water, breakfast really good. step out of the hotel to walk 2 mins to lots of restaurants and coffee shops , walk over the road outside the tube station to get nos 31 ,upto Arc De Triumph and from there you can get a open top bus purchase a two day ticket and jump on and off the bus as you please visiting every well known landmarks takes the head ache out of navigating buses .would return if going to paris again.train noise, but so tired from walking about that was not much of a negative.

Went here on a Groupon deal. The room was clean and tidy, the bathroom was shabby in its decor but the shower was excellent. Wi-fi is only available down in the hotel's lobby area. The breakfast was poor - you find yourself a table that probably has not been cleaned after the previous couple ate there, you find everything yourself and serve yourself. If you want a simple continental breakfast of some pastries and coffee you will be ok, but the fruit floating around in the fruit salad looked old, there wasn't a fruit bowl of fresh fruit and one morning I tried the scrambled eggs which had seen better (and probably previous) days.

how this is a 4 star I will never know. The best thing about it is it's proximity to Le P'tit Canon, an amazing bistro around the corner that we would never have gone to unless staying up in this area.

I booked this hotel as a package thru a reputable travel agent. As I have always booked my holidays online , I thought a travel agent would know better . This was a surprise for my daughter's sweet 16 birthday . Mommy & daughter trip! Boy was I let down! The hotel stated it was a 4 star , maybe 20 years ago when it didn't have mould on walls & wet/damp carpet!
Positives- room tidied every day & fresh towels & breakfast was ok
Negatives- location of hotel not central at all as advertised . Took 45-1 hr brisk walk to champs eyless.
- mould on walls & chipped ceiling .
- pillows made out of recycled socks. Lumpy. Had to ask for new pillow as I woke up with crooked neck
-bed made out of solid something with zero spring & discovered big dry "wet" patches on mattress, most likely pee
- discovered big wet patches on carpet under desk after i investigated stink in room
- bathroom shower very powerful but entire bathroom floor was covered in water due to side leaks.
- moulds smell in room
-fridge Stunk bad

Generally the hotel was very dated & needed a lot of TLC. Staff were ok but Richard was excellent , giving us advise on where to visit etc.

I would never stay there & would definatetly not recommend hotel.

We were doing a Groupon 1 nighter travelling out on the Eurostar. We had slight difficulty in finding the hotel but I put that down to the google directions I had printed off. It is a 15 minute walk from the Monmatre Cemetry and only 10 minutes from the Centre of Paris by tube. We stayed the 1 night in a room that was small but adequate. Breakfast was heavenly with bread cheeses and pastrys. The hotel was clean and warm with a nice welcoming reception area.

Room Tip: Most rooms appear to have a balcony area

We got a deal with Villa Eugenie from Wotif saying that it would be 4 star hotel (never go for that deal with them btw). It is most 2 stars so I have no idea where they got 4 stars from. The room was tiny and needs a lot of renovation. It was dusty and had a bad motel feeling to it. We got no internet in the room as it was promised in the offer. There was actually no internet even in the lounge. The worst was breakfast though. The food was nothing special (not 4 star hotel food) but you could get on with it, however it was so EXTREMELY COLD in the breakfast lounge that people needed to eat in their winter jackets. Food was getting cold within 2 mins.

All would be ok if they called themselves a 2 star hotel and charged 50-60 euro. But 4 star and more that 100 euro is a JOKE.

I really do not recommend, far away from subway, close to noisy railway station, dodgy area far from everything...
It really spoiled our visit in Paris. Its more worthy to pay additional 20 euro and stay in 3 star in the city.
Depressing, old place...

After Reading Trip advisor I must say I was a little worried about Staying at Villa Eugenie. I didnt need to worry. Staff were very helpful, room was comfortable and Clean and the balcony was a great added bonus.
I found that getting the metro to rome was very handy as it is only a short walk down ru du rome to the hotel. And the hotel is in a lovely bustling area.
I would definetly go back to Villa Eugenie!!!

Room Tip: We were on the 5th floor with a balcony which was a great touch :)
