We booked this hotel through an online deal that included round trip airfare, airport transfers, hop on/off bus, and additional days in Rome. To be honest, I was VERY worried about this hotel due to the lackluster reviews I had read about prior to arriving here. I would like to say that I was pleasantly surprised!

Pros:
-close to two metro stops
- great customer service (from the older gentleman.. everyone else was mediocre)
-clean linens and towels!
-cute decor
-Cute little liquor shop two doors down where we bought drinks and necessities for reasonable pricing!

Cons:
-smaller rooms (but Europe hotels tend to be MUCH smaller than American hotels)
-breakfast was not worth 15 euros (our package included breakfast, had I paid for it, I would have not continued it)
-it is a bit away from citi center (but with the metros, we got everywhere quickly)
-it is an older hotel
-Don't forget your electronic outlet converter!

Don't let star number fool you. Not even close to 2 star hotel. It was not:
quite (close to noisy rail station),
clean. Small ants in bath room.
close to metro.

We stayed in another 4 star hotel (Hotel Ampere) that was very good compared to this one.
Don't recommend it at all.

We start in Paris of our trip in france, and ended up in this hotel thru groupon. We liked it the moment we stepped in thru the doors, The staff was very polite and helpful with everything. We had a 2 years old with us and in that case the room was a little to small but if we had travelled without the child the size of the room were fine. The bathroom were fresh and clean and a bathtub which were perfect with a child. The Breakfast were good (french) of course but they also have some sausages and scrambled eggs. The location were about 20-30 minutes of walk from montmartre. It was near subway and trains so location were good.

We stayed here for 4 nights, as a surprise birthday present from my partner.

Positives:
Close walking to train / metro. A number of hotels and small shops nearby, Place de Clichy not too far to walk.
The design of the Hotel and room was really lovely, with fabric instead of wallpaper to adorn all the walls, it certainly has been thoughtfully done in an old style parisienne way.
It was lovely and clean, and quite. Our room had two tall windows with Juliette balconies overlooking the street below, and looking out to beautiful old period apartment buildings.
The lift / elevator is cute, with a glass back wall behind which is a canvas painting, and as the lift moved the painting which is stationary changes scene all the time.
The beds were made up really accurately with lovely attention to detail when folding the sheets etc.
Although on a busy junction the hotel was quiet and we slept really well.
The room had air conditioning, and it ran silently enough to sleep with it on.
The bathroom toiletries were renewed daily.
The housekeeping / cleaning staff were very friendly.

Not So Positive :( :
The area around the Hotel would be described as ok, it is close to a couple restaurants, train and metro just a short walk away. The area immediately in front isn't overly attractive overlooking the railways station and tracks.
The reception staff vary from complacent to unhelpful.
We had no problems with our booking, but there was no real friendliness or enthusiasm from any of the reception staff, we were glad we hadn't booked breakfast, and the bar didn't look very appealing, we couldn't see any drinks on display, and that area looked all a little empty. there didn't appear to be any bar staff either.

We checked in late (11.00pm) in the evening (due to a flight delay) and asked where might get some food, and were advised that the hotel did room service until 1.30am, and to phone down to reception. So we had tons of time.
We went to our room relaxed for half an hour, and perused the menu. After choosing from the menu, we discovered there wasn't any information in the room to tell us what number to dial for reception. So we tried each single digit number on the phone, the only one which actually rang was '9' but we had no reply various times. After about 30 minutes of searching the room for another number, and trying to ring '9' my partner got dressed and went to reception, only to be told by the same staff member if we wanted room service we would have to wait for 90 minutes, we decided this wasn't very helpful, so got dressed again and went out to find food in Place de Clichy.
The next afternoon around 6pm we phoned down to reception and asked if we could have an ironing board and iron, only to be told no, we needed to ask for it between the hours of 10am and 5pm, or wait until the next staff change as the staff weren't allowed to leave the reception. This alone is a little curious as various times when we arrived at the hotel to go back to our room the staff weren't at reception but were standing outside smoking or chatting with their mates. There is no information anywhere in the hotel or room with information about the availability of the ironing board between certain hours, so I ended up going out with a wrinkled shirt on.
Also there was no TV remote control, so you have to use the fiddly button at the back of the tv to use it.

To sum up, a really lovely hotel let down by it unenthusiastic, tired staff. To me it reminds me of a Hotel thats suffered as a result of the credit crunch that has had to make cut backs and every staff members face tells you that story.

Room Tip: They all look like nice rooms.

We booked one room by last minute and another directly with the hotel. We arrived, they had our bookings but said they did not have a room. No apology, they did not care. We paid in advance. The hotel was empty, not a single guest around, bar closed, restaurant closed, all of the lights off, but a coach trip had just arrived (not us). Hotel told us they did not have a room for us and began phoning around. They offered us a hotel 15 minutes drive outside of Paris, no thanks. We asked to cancel, as per the last minute agreement when there is a change like that, they wouldn't let us. We ended up staying one night in the hotel next door, hotel lied to us about having any nights available to us. They were so rude to us. This hotel drove me to write on websites like this for the first time. Last Minute had to argue with them for hours to get us a refund, apparently the hotel hung up on last minute many times.

Please do not stay here.

Having read the real mixture of reviews I had some concerns about the stay. These disappeared upon checking in. The reception staff generally were quietly professionally, giving useful advice when required in a pleasant, friendly and unobtrusive manner.
We were upgraded to a superiro room which was more than beig enough with a good sized bathroom.
The room overlooked the trainline but we did not find this overly obtrusive. There were roadworks directly outside of nteh hotel which seemd to start each night of our stay in the early hours for most of the night. This is not something however that the hotel could be faulted for.
The rooms were a lovevly shabby sheek (less of the shabby) style. Nicely represented on teh photos.
Bathroom nice and clean with very generously sized towels.
Room cleaning was totally unobtrusive - there did not appear to be a set time, rooms seemed to be cleaned as you left for siteseeing (leaving the key as reception.
We did not access the breakfast facilities sio cannot comment.
Location - good for accessing the main sites as close to Rue du Rome Metro station. We purchased a two day travel pass - for metro, busses and trains - unlimited use - a great way to fet around.
We didn't see much of the area local area until our last day - as we wanted to see the main sites. Do be sure to access teh area behind the hotel - lots of shops, restaurants and cafes.
Some homeless people on teh road at night up the road form the hotel but they posed no threat at all.
Absolutely no issue for us with theft - which I had read a lot of reviews about on here - we made use of the in room safe and the staff kept our laptop in their office behind reception until we required at our request.
Would we stay here again - defintely without question. The only reason I have marked down from excellent was because of the roadworks - which affected sleep on the first night - but as I say not the hotels fault.
Overall a great value place for easy access to the main sites:)

We stayed here for three evenings. We found it to be charming and we found the staff to be helpful. The rooms were small, but clean. We didn't have a problem with theft, but we did use the in-room safe every time we left the room. Enjoyed breakfast.
