A great room, a great breakfast, a great location, reliable wifi, and Karima is one of the sweetest women I've ever met. What's not to like? For me, the only room for improvement would have been a full sized bed and a twin bed instead of three twin beds; and the temperature, but there's little you can do about the temperature in Paris in June/July! The next time I'm in Paris, I will definitely stay at the HBO again.

We stayed at the Berne Opera for 4 nights. Stayed in Room 55 which was ample for myself, my wife and our 13-year old daughter. The beds were very comfortable and the en-suite was spotless. Enjoyed the typically Parisian view from our room - could see the Eiffel Tower! As regards being near Gare St Lazare, we could hear the trains at night, but it didn't really disturb our sleep. The reception staff were very courteous, friendly and helpful. There was a great choice at breakfast, and we were well looked after by a lovely lady called Fatima who complimented us on our pretty awful attempts at speaking French! Our flight home was later in the day, and the hotel was more than happy to keep our luggage in a safe room for us. Would certainly go back. Lovely stay!

Room Tip: Our room (55) more than adequate for a couple and a teenager.

The hotel was great for a reasonably priced Paris hotel. Neat, clean and great location for the Metro, Montmatre is a short walk away. It is on the edge of what I call 'tourist' Paris. Which is great because if you take a short walk North you are in the area called Batignolles, which has cafes a plenty, a lovely fresh food market and cheaper cafes and restaurants than you'll find in the tourist hub. It also gives you a glimpse of local Paris. It contains the Square De Batignolles which is a lovely little park that extends onto the Rue Legendre which has cafes, market etc.

The staff were friendly and helpful. We had breakfast included, which I would recommend. Not because the breakfast was out of this world but because eating out in Paris soon adds up.

The minor negative for a light sleeper is that it is very close to the main train line that rumbles into Gare St Lazare. You can hear the rumbling at intervals throughout the night, but it didn't bother me or my family.

We needed somewhere near Gare St Lazare as we were arriving at 9 at night and needed to be at Gare du Nord next midday for Eurostar. Familiar with Paris but not so much this area near the station, we booked Hotel Berne based on walking distance from the station, and price.I searched for a long time to find something at this price and what looked like it would be okay given the pictures on website and reviews here. Slightly put off by homeless setting up cardboard shells for the night as we walked from the station, we arrived at the hotel, weary and ready to bear what might just be an okay hotel. Wrong. This is GREAT value. We had room 55, which had 2 singles slightly raised on a platform and nestled together and a sofa bed. The beds were extremely comfortable. It was a bit tricky with our luggage, but the room was bigger than I expected and did not feel too small for us and our 10 yr old. Two double large French balcony doors could be opened to let in fresh air, and we had views of Montparnasse and Eiffel Tower and Paris skyline. We shut them at night as you are right by the station and we slept like babies. Bathroom was just right, clean, great shower and toiletries. TV if you need it. Night porter very helpful and friendly. Day receptionist (woman) fabulously friendly and funny, ordered us a taxi in the morning which we waited for in the cute waiting room, and helped to quickly resolve a mistake in our booking regarding breakfast. we booked online and were offered the option of full buffet at reduced rate of 8 euros which we took as we knew we would be pressed for time. More than adequate selection of meats, cheese, scrambled eggs, bacon, fruit salad, 2 cereals, a range of very fresh pastries and baguettes, teas, coffees, juices , yoghurts. Excellent value for the convenience and quantity.
As mentioned in other posts, the lift and reception area and corridors are tiny, so luggage is a squish, BUT there is good enough space in the rooms which is where you want it.
More than what we're hoping for at the price, and was a great convenient end to our stay in Paris.
This isn't luxury, just great value, clean, funky in a good way, great comfortable accommodation with nice people to help you out.Recommended.

Room Tip: Triple room was good size, opening French windows, lovely skyline view.

This hotel was a little out of where I would have liked but very very helpful staff (most spoke English) location ended up being not bad at all close to Montmartre and just a nice walk to the arc de triumph restaurants in the area are not too many. The hotel itself was very comfortable decent size rooms (for Paris) we had top floor room with a view of Eiffel Tower, awesome. Bathroom was nice just head room when having shower was small due to angle of roof, but the view and staff made it worth it. Would stay there again.
