Hotel Marignan is in a great location but in a quiet street off the Champs Elysees. It's a modern boutique hotel with rooms 'Paris-sized' but well laid out, modern decor and sleek bathroom. I took a room with a balcony - nice table and chairs and view of the Eiffel tower.

The staff here are lovely - couldn't praise them enough. I ate lunch in the restaurant and the chef is clearly one to watch. Wonderful flavors, balanced (hold on I've gone all 'Masterchef'), not those teeny tiny portions that use up more calories to eat than they contain.

This hotel will definitely go on my Paris list.

Room Tip: Deluxe room - some have balconies

Rated a five-star hotel one expects more. The staff was kind and polite, especially the bell boys, but not capable of correcting our complaints. The rooms were big enough, but very unpractically arranged. Operating the lights was mysterious. Closets were placed in such a way that one could not open the doors without closing the way into the bathroom, but had to walk around beds, etc. The light in the bathroom was very poor, and we asked for extra lamp etc, but were told that "the extra lamp was broken!" (Why then not buy a new one). After several complaints we were moved to a "better" room (after 4 of 6 nights). The toilet was in a separate room without possibility of washing hands. The bathroom had insufficient shelter of the shower so the water flooded over the floor. The room was equipped with a rack of closets which took much space in the middle of the room.
Room service was expedite an OK. The rooms were clean and recently refurbished, so then why not arrange them better?

Room Tip: Ask to see the room if it fits your needs

Excellent hotel. I stayed here with a friend for a few days at the end of April. It is in an excellent location. Very close to Champs Elysees and L'Avenue. 2 minutes walk to the metro station. The rooms aren't huge but they are very stylish. The climate control in the rooms is excellent. The concierge were se helpful, especially Paul! The bar was very lively when we there. Will definitely be going back.

We stayed four nights in this hotel in that rare thing, a quiet street just off the Champs Elysees. Possibly the most fashionable street in the world, Avenue Montaigne, is at the other end of the street, with Georges Cinq just off that.

The style of the hotel is modern elegant and there are some lovely examples of Australian inspired art. We had a de-Luxe room, not enormous, but this is 8th Arrondissement! It had a very nice small balcony, with seating for two and a small table, overlooking the Rue de Marignan with a view of the Eiffel Tower over the roofs to the left, and the Champs Elysees running across the end of the street to the right. The en-suite included a shower room - ten people could have a shower in it without bumping into each other! The mini-bar is really a mini-bar; the little fridge is stocked with complementary soft drinks. There are also very nice nibbles, but these are charged for and you must ask for replacements when you have eaten them.

The restaurant is excellent, if pricey; ditto the bar.

Possibly the best thing about this hotel is the complete friendliness and helpfulness of the staff.

A very nice, new, hotel close -but off- Elysée.
Rooms are excellent. Large, great beds and very good bath rooms.
Rates are very high but worth every cent. The breakfast included in room price is a joke. As always in France. But you can order anything you like additional. High quality, fast service and horrible expensive. Why must hotelières always squeeze the last euro out of their guests already paying € 4-600 for a room night?
All staff in Front desk, Breakfast and Bar are very nice and helpful.
We will certainly come back.

Room Tip: Rooms facing street on 4th and 5th shows the Tour Eiffel.

After travelling to Paris for about two decades, I finally found the hotel I would like to return to. It is modern in furnishings, totally renovated and poses a drastic contrast to the standard parisian amenities. The room was above standard - superior, I guess. The atmosphere was very relaxing. The bed mattress, the pillows, the climate control were up to my expectations. So, I felt at home from the very beginning of arrival. The frontdesk people were polite and helpful. I have to thank Miguel, a consierge, who was very knowledgeable about where to go in the area and did an excellent job in my restaurant and taxi bookings.

Overall, I had very pleasing 3-day stay at this professionally run hotel which is to be recommended to anyone going to Paris for a short trip.

Room Tip: Book a superior room which is slightly roomier that standard.

Just to make myself clear - the only reason I rated this hotel average is because the room I stayed was quite worn - I have attached the photos to this effect. I feel a bit embarrassed by giving this rating, since "interface with the clients" people working in the hotel, from doormen to front desk did their job well. Unfortunately, tripadvisor lacks the simply "good" rating, and I cannot call this hotel "very good".

I stayed in this hotel because the room for my preferred stays for a romantic trip to Paris was not available in a different hotel pursuant to my initial request. So staying here was a compromise from the start. I opted for the Marignan secretly hoping it would be a nice discovery of a hidden Parisian jewel and bargain - didn't happen. The (admittedly) low price for the type of accommodation I got was reflective of the quality.

GOOD

All the people I have encountered in the hotel were very nice and obliging. The only substantive request I had - to extend the check out time until 3 pm, if the room was not reserved - was graciously honored. Otherwise, I was an easy guest.

The design of the hotel is interesting, a bit dated, but the hotel was apparently done a while back. The bedding was very nice. Everything in my room was in working order.

The location is fine - you can't go wrong being 200 meters from the Champs Elysees.

NOT SO GOOD

Having said good things the design itself - the hotel is very worn. There is a musty smell of a place that badly needs some updating. To cover this smell, the management uses home perfume that assaults you as you enter the lobby from the street.

To be fair about the need for updating - I think it is reflected in the price. The hotel is not very expensive.

The towels were not fluffy and soft to the touch, and the bathrobes were simply embarrassing - so old, grayish and washed out I'd be afraid tp scratch my skin if I decided to put one on. Well, I might be a bit dramatic here, but you get the idea - I think a fluffy towel is not too much to ask from a good hotel.

So, I cannot recommend the hotel for a discerning visitor, yet if you're looking for a no frills yet stylish place to stay in the 8th - might be worth a try.

Room Tip: 601, where I stayed, had a nice large terrace.
