“Great location...but”
Reviewed 10 November 2011

We spent six nights at the hotel and the best thing I can say about it is that the location is great. We checked into our room and found a clean & tidy small room without any frills whatsoever. Why would a hotel not have night stands next to the bed? I had to move the chair over to the bed to make a table to put my books etc. on. Hair dryer is something out of the 1950's- no shower cap, body lotion etc. just some shampoo. But the absolute worst is the wifi situation. The hotel charges for wifi (which when paying over $200. a night is an insult) and then the service is archaic (Orange). Only one device can go up at a time, each & every time you attempt to use it, you must put in a super long ID and code. The final straw was that Orange blocks Skype usage! This is inexcusable that a hotel would deal with a service that blocks such a necessary service for travelers. In addition, the hotel has the tv volume set to a maximum that is quite low as the rooms are all fairly close together. As mentioned above, the location is great and the maid service does a good job. All in all I would not stay here again.

This hotel has loads of charm and is located in an ideal central Left Bank location, just behind the St. Sulpice church (now of Dan Brown fame...). It is situated in an old 'hotel particulier' of someone famous (can't remember who). The rooms are typical parisian, i.e. small, but the bathrooms are well-appointed. The place is clean and tidy. The breakfast room is down a floor in the basement and is thus a little claustrophobic. My major complaint was having to pay for wi-fi and Internet access, which seems ridiculous given the price and out-of-touch with 2011. There is a slight "old" feeling and maybe the place just needs a little updating. Nevertheless, it wouldn't be my most highly recommended hotel in that neighborhood (I have sampled a few) but is certainly better than many.

Room Tip: We had a 'deluxe' room facing the inner courtyard which was very quiet. Not sure about the o...

The other reviews pretty much describe the hotel and what to expect (and its deficiencies.) We wanted to be in this neighborhood and would have chosen the Bonapart except it was full. Nevertheless, pretty well satisfied but expensive for what you get.

We found this place gratefully after having a terrible experience with a robbery attempt at the Hotel Peyris Opera. They were wonderful to us and gave us rooms far below their stated price. Rooms were clean and lovely. Views of a really nice little courtyard. GREAT location near a wonderful neighborhood with lots of great places to eat. Only downside was the breakfast (too pricey at 12 euro for what you got) and you had to also pay for internet (the only hotel we had to do that in 3 weeks) I would have rated them 5 starts but for that. BUT overall a wonderful place to be. You will not be disappointed!

Little room on the interior courtyard was quiet and perfect for sleeping of jet lag! Hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating helping with taxis and restaurant reservations. Great location.

Room Tip: You may want to request a room on a higher floor for more light.

Very close to Luxemburg Gardens and St-Germain des Prés. Easily accessible by metro. Amazing restaurants close by (Julians, and Chez Henry). Staff is friendly. A/C was a bit iffy in our room (good thing the weather was not too hot). No free Wifi???? This is 2011! Everyone has free Wifi. Security is a bit lax. Walked in one afternoon after sightseeing, and wanted to get my room key from the front desk. No one was there. Waited 5 minutes. Finally got fed up of waiting, walked right up to the key rack, picked up my key and went to my room. They never noticed that my key was gone. Definitely lock our valuables in the safe!

Some nice things, some not so nice things.

Location is pretty okay - side street just outside Latin Quarter, a few minutes hike to Metro stop, and maybe 15-20min walk to NotreDame.

Surprisingly large rooms for a European boutique hotel.
A renovated large home, with decent beds, nice amenities, good breakfast.
Small number of staff, bar in sitting room off the front door, no real lobby but a guy in a desk in a nook by the door. More of a bed & breakfast feel than a proper hotel.

Staff was pleasant enough but not terribly helpful.
When issues occurred, such as another reviewers point about the non-functioning WiFi, the action and attention from the desk personnel was a shrug, 'what can we do?'.
Inability to schedule a cab? No WiFi? Issues with noise? All somewhat ignored.

Perhaps a best fit for very independent travelers, who want a unique non-chain hotel without all the frills you'd expect from such a place.
