We stayed here at the end of our tour with Amawaterways. Be forewarned: it is a very stressful place to stay. They obviously deal with very large groups on a regular basis (one group, alone, numbered over 700 people). At times, the front lobby looked like Grand Central Station at rush hour. However, they are very short-staffed and incapable of dealing with these numbers. One day, there was a 20-minute wait to get into breakfast, while there were plenty of tables available inside the restaurant. The staff that was present were difficult to find, since they were covering so many tables at once. The front desk usually consisted of two or three people, and unlikely to answer the phone. The concierge was overworked, and favored French-speakers (I had to speak up when they kept cutting in).
Even worse were the elevators. It was like playing Russian roulette in reverse. You could wait for 10 minutes, then there would be no room. A very, very frustrating situation when you needed to meet your group. And just try and make a quick trip to the fitness room. There are two separate sets of elevators. To get from our room on the 6th floor, you can to go to the lobby to get to the other elevators serving the 22nd floor. That just doubled the torture.
On the positive side, it has a modern, attractive look. The room was nice, with a comfortable bed, large TV and a nice tub. However, the TV was very difficult to navigate and there are not drawers for storage. Really annoying was that the shower will change temperature without warning. There are no irons in the room. You can request one, but it dates from the Dark Ages.
Also, the location was pretty good. It’s away from the main tourist centers, and close to transportation and some good restaurants.
To summarize, the Pullman Paris Montparnasse is a very frustrating place to stay, and makes you feel like a part of a herd – not a guest. I would never stay there again.

Great preparedness for big audience. Fine food and drinks. Everything clean. Stuff very organised. Just one minus that garderobe was out of order because of no one person to keep it.

We got a nice price for 2 nights with breakfast and a drink at Cafe Atlantique.
From checkin to check out no complaints.
Room at 23rd floor, with recent renovation, nice modern furniture.
Perhaps a small furniture withdrawers to range small pieces of clothes would be an amelioration...
The service at breakfast was perfect, everyone smiling.
For us, who come and return to Brittany and so by Railway station Montparnasse, it's the ideal hotel

This is a large hotel, so there will be many people arriving and leaving in the mornings and evenings. So what did we find at 4:45pm on a Wednesday evening? One person on Reception. But to make things worse, there is a large WELCOME sign over the left hand side of the reception desk area. Do not be fooled, a) this is not Reception - it is the Concierge and b) You are most certainly not welcome.

Given there was a group being checked in (at some length) by the one Reception person, I approached the two chaps under the WELCOME sign.
"No, no you cannot check in here, you must check in there."
"But you are free and she is busy"
"Nothing I can do"
"How about seeing if there are any more staff who could open up another desk?"
"I cannot help you"

So you can see how first impressions are formed...

The room was small but had a very good bed and nice linens. There were even slippers and a bathrobe, though you had to look under a shelf in the bathroom to find them. Wi-fi is free, but you need to pay 5 Euros to get a fast enough line for VOIP calls etc.

Next morning I rode the lift down to the level A where the breakfast dining room is located. Stepped out of the lift and straight into the back of the queue for breakfast. It must have had over thirty people stood in line and it wasn't moving at all quickly. I gave up and walked out.

At least check-out was being handled by three people on reception, so it took less time to get out of there - just as well really....

Stayed here over the weekend in June. Quick and friendly check-in and got a room on a high floor (22nd). The view was awesome!

The room was a good size and the bed was very comfortable; had a very good and long nights sleep. Room temperature good as well, which is usually a problem in hotel rooms.

Alltogether a great value hotel with friendly reception staff. Would definitely stay again. Thanks!

We were assigned this hotel by a third party agency, but luckily through corresponding with the very nice manager, Patrick, we were able convey our needs to ensure we had a room with two beds. This didn't stop the attitude and delays we got upon check in from the busy and distracted desk clerk until I produced my email correspondences with various staff in advance of arrival. In fact, through our whole stay the desk staff was curt and always looking a little stressed out. The lobby was also overrun with tour groups waiting for rooms and we tried to minimize our time in it.

The rooms are comfortable enough, equivalent to typical US 3-4 star, but nothing exceptional and as has been mentioned, could be cleaned better.

The location close to the train station can be a plus, if you want to catch buses and trains, or a negative, if you wish to be in a more quaint and Parisian neighborhood. Its convenient and yet its a bit sad that you hardly feel you are in Paris while in the general vicinity of the hotel (and I love Montparnasse in general, so that was not the issue).

You have to step over drunks and bums when walking from the station to the hotel later in the evening, but it does not feel unsafe. We once made the mistake of deciding to go right instead of left from the station, and had a very uncomfortable walk along a very busy road and tall corporate buildings

Altogether, for business or sleeping its an OK choice, but no different than most standard large hotels.

After taking a Seine River cruise on AMA Waterways, we stayed two nights at the Pullman Paris Montparnasse. This is a large hotel across the street from the Gare Montparnasse so it is conveniently close to the railway and Metro. The hotel appears to be used primarily for groups, conferences and airline employees. Nearby, however, are excellent brasseries and restaurants. The room we stayed in was clean and comfortable. Free WIFI is provided. Breakfast buffet was excellent and lobby bar serves great tap beer and cocktails. The bell and front desk staff were extremely friendly and efficient.
