“Best in Central Paris”
Reviewed 22 October 2011

Although slightly pricy, as all things in Paris are, we really enjoyed staying in the hotel. Very friendly and helpful reception, porter greeted us every morning like old friends. Very spacious double room, ample wardrobe space, everything clean and well maintained. Great bed (I've a bad back) and quality bedding. Room was well sound-proofed.Relatively quiet and safe street with all the designer shops on the hotel's doorstep. VERY close to Champs Elysees, which we enjoyed but chose not to spend money there (typical tourist trap, expensive, poor restaurants). Chose not to use the expensive bar fridge, but bought from a supermarket 2 blocks away from hotel. Metro approx 5 minute walk. We stayed for 4 nights - suggest visitors obtain multi-day Metro card asap as other means of transport are difficult / pricy. Enjoyed shopping at LaFayette and vicinity - far better than the Champs Elysees. Also suggest obtaining own taxi, as there is a 'surcharge' if the hotel organises taxi to airport. Taxi to airport not cheap (approx 50 - 60 euro). I will stay in no other hotel when visiting Paris again.

We actually walked in to the hotel to get a room as we didn't have a place to stay as we had to stay a few nights extra. The gentleman at the front desk was superb and the doorman/porter was good too! We initially only got one night then when we asked for a second, they had to check as for the time they were fully booked. However, after asking later that morning we were able to stay an extra night.

Location is excellent as you are about 5 minutes to FDR Metro stop and thus the Rue Champs-Elyesee (good shopping, decent food).

This was our second stay at Residence du Roy, the first being back in 2003. This experience was just as good as the first occasion and we will definitely return in the future!

We enjoyed a VIP welcome (my husbansd having contacted the hotel to request the room we stayed in last time when he proposed) which included welcome cards, a fruit basket and champagne. This was a lovely surprise and a personal touch. We stayed in a suite (room 106) and the 3rd in our party in a double room (107). The suites overlook the rear garden, the doubles have a view of the street to the front (a fairly quiet road). Both rooms were comfortably furnished and spacious, (particularly for Parisian hotels) with plentiful wardrobe space and air conditioning.

Breakfast is served in the nicely decorated breakfast room - it offers the usual continental assortment and is all very nice and constantly replenished. The bar is small but has been refurbished since our last stay and internet access is now available in the reception area free of charge (wi-fi was available in our room). The hotel would benefit from a restaurant which would be a useful addition.

This hotel is a fairly small, welcoming place to stay with helpful, friendly staff. It is centrally located in the designer district 5 mins walk away from the Champs Elysses. The sights are mostly walkable, the Arc de Triomphe and Louvre a shortish walk in opposite directions. Really handy for the Bateaux Mouche river cruises just down the road.

As a genearal tip, avoid eating on the Champs Elysses - an unenviable tourist trap with very pricey but substandard food. Do a bit of research before you go to find better places. Taxis to and from the airport are expensive (50 euros is standard). Good things to do are the river cruises along the Seine, lunch in the Jardin des Tuileries cafes, drinks on the city beach (la plage) plus a visit to the Louvre and the Catacombes (but be prepared to queue!).

We were welcomed warmly, had a great stay in a quiet, very clean and comfortable hotel which we would recommend to others. Enjoy!

I stayed at this hotel for one night on a business trip and the next morning I woke up covered with more than 20 bite marks which my doctor then confirmed was bed bug bites. We called the hotel who had the arrogance to suggest it was due to the cleanliness of the eurostar or my own home. I am 7 1/2 months pregnant and not only did I get bitten by bed bugs, they put me in a room where the a/c wasn't really working and charged me €25 euros for a cold pasta dish which took them an hour to bring since they don't prepare the food on sight. The hotel refused to refund my money and in return we have alerted the French health inspector of the indicident who is going to make a visit and we hope they will force them to admit and fix the problem. Even if they do fix the problem you can find many other hotels in the same area for much better value and service. Even without the bed bugs, this hotel would barely be a 2 star.

First Time to Paris, booked the room through our travel agency. The room was ok size but the sofa bed was so bad that our children ended up sleeping on the floor. The room was stark and had no charming quality. The breakfast was in a nice room on the 0 floor. The front desk staff was arrogant, and made us feel like a bother more than guests. I dreaded walking through the lobby as there was absolutely no emotional connection to us as their guests for 3 days. Anytime we asked for directions, we were told to come back the next day because we would forget what they told us. Honestly.. I have been in the hotel business for 25 years and I have never had this experience before. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Very good location for Central Paris. We enjoyed being so close to the Champs Elysees while being able to easily walk to other attractions such as Eiffel Tower and Louvre museum.

Dont bother with breakfast, there is an excellent cafe just around the corner (100m away) which is cheaper and very pleasant. Room service is available but very limited, as it comes from a nearby chinese restaurant.

The Hotel staff were friendly and overall we were very satisfied with our stay, although perhaps it was a little expensive for the available ameneties.

The location (close to Champs Elysses) and good price makes this hotel a decent place to live in Paris as a tourist. I stayed here with my family for a long weekend. The staff is very friendly. They helped us with our luggage. We had a lovely big room with a balcony. The room was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast in the morning was ok. Nothing to write home about. If the price is right, I will stay here again
