“Petite but nice & close to Metro”
Reviewed 7 October 2013

Enjoyed our stay here. The hotel is conveniently located just footsteps from the Saint Georges Metro station. This station is however not the easiest to get to from Gare du Nord and requires two changes (or alternatively you can get out at Pigalle). This was really the only inconvenience however. For getting around the city and seeing the major sights it was fine and we used the Metro quite a lot, so it was convenient having a station in close proximity to the hotel.

The room was rather petite without much room to walk around the bed however it was nicely decorated and had a nice feel, as did the bathroom. Due to proximity to the Metro there is a bit of a faint rattling that can be heard coming from beneath the building from time to time, but it's not too disturbing. The breakfast served downstairs was in a nice setting and good. The staff who served us were all polite and helpful.

Our stay was rather expensive for what it was however it seems that accommodation all over Paris is quite overpriced so this is no different. I would consider staying here again, although next time I will probably look out for somewhere that is close to a Metro station requiring less changes from Gare du Nord.

Booking a hotel in Paris is always a gamble when you have a limited budget. This hotel was better than expected.
To start with the hotel itself. All my correspondence with the hotel was swiftly responded to. A week before we were due to arrive, I requested a room on an upper floor. An email confirmation was received the next day and indeed when we checked in, that request was logged and the staff on the front desk had arranged it. Kevin, on the front desk, was great: very good English and a good sense of humour.
The room (506) wasn't big, well it is Paris. But it wasn't cramped by any means, space to walk all round the bed and have a small wheelie bag on the luggage stand. We were at the back of the hotel which meant we were away from the road. Lovely to have the window open at night, although there was also an air con unit if you preferred. The bathroom was very clean. Nice shower above a small bath. Towels were changed each day. If you want to watch TV, then there are plenty of channels to choose from, including English and other language options. For breakfast there is more than the standard croissant/French bread fair. There are a couple of hot options, selection of meat/cheeses, cereal/yoghurts as well as pastries/breads. And unlike one reviewer's comment - all the cutlery was metal. No plastic to be seen. Around 3pm there are snacks/drinks in the lobby for hotel guests. This is a lovely touch. The free WiFi worked well in all areas of the hotel. The lifts are a little slow - but that is a minor observation to a very enjoyable stay.
Moving onto the location. The hotel is very close to the Saint Georges Metro station - it's literally across the road. This makes getting around the city very easy. You can walk to the Sacre Coeur in about 10 mins and the Louvre is 20 mins away. And Gare du Nord is only a couple of stops away on the Metro.
Definitely worth staying.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on an upper floor.

This hotel is supposedly a 3 star hotel, but was very disappointing. While we stayed the cutlery available in the breakfast room was plastic. When we enquired about this the response was entirely unsatisfactory and you are basically just told to deal with it with no proper explanation. The staff are generally quite unfriendly especially in the breakfast room. The reception staff are not very helpful unless you can speak and understand French. We moved out of the hotel where we were supposed to stay for 5 nights after 2 nights as it was really disappointing. I would not recommend the hotel especially if it is for any kind of business trip.

Hotel was nice. Rooms were a touch small, but clean. Close to a grocery store, which helps a lot, because food was not cheap. Close to the subway, or if you like walking, a twenty minute walk to the louvres.

The hotel was very clean. Food was excellent except it was not included in the quoted room rate. Reception desk spoke very limited English. AIR CONDITIONING was horrible. No a/c at all. They finally gave us a fan on outlast night. Nice location.

Just spent a few days at the Lorette Opera Hotel.
Its location is excellent, safe and colourful neighborhood, metro nearby..... Great.
However, this review is on the hotel and not the area.
Agreed the lovely surroundings and over convenient transportation do add to the hotel's benefits, but I think thats all.
The hotel, just refurbished I understand, is a small average establishment.
We were probably given the very worst room in the hotel ( number 6) which is located on the ground floor, window looking straight out into the street, so people walking by can look in to the room, and noise from passing cars just outside the room is substancial and troublesome.
Check in was fine, until I was made to understand that they do not accept 500 euro notes and sent out in the pouring rain to find a bank to change the notes for them. Returning drenched to the bone an hour later, after having failed at locating a bank, the staff surprisingly notified me that they would accept my "counterfeit" bank notes. Mmmmmmmm.
There are three or four clerks at the desk, each ranging from indifferent to actually very nice and helpful.
Breakfast is 13 euro a person, so we took breakfast over the road at a cheaper price, but quite delicious.
Overall price of this stay was, in my eyes, exorbitant, but I suppose thats the price to pay in beautiful Paris.
So if you are looking for a safe, clean, really no frills, place to lay your head at the end of the day and place to conviently start the next, this is a fair hotel.....just dont take room number six !!!!!!
