“An absolute when in Paris”
Reviewed 21 October 2013

Want fine dining at reasonable prices when in Paris? This is it! The charming 40 seat bistro located in the 8 arrondissement, is owned by Beatriz Gonzalez, the head chef, her husband Matthieu Marcant, and Yannick Tranchant the pastry chef, all of whom previously worked at La Grande Cascade, a one star restaurant in the Bois de Bologne.
The ambience is warm and inviting, the decor simple yet so appropriate, and the feeling is one of being in a true French restaurant. For those who have tourist phobia when dining in Paris, you will be assured that French is the overwhelming language spoken here. However, the wait staff is conversant in both languages. The seating is tight but it is never a consideration after you sit down.
As for the food, divine. We had the appetizer of mushroom raviolis which brought out the greatyintrinsic flavors of the mushrooms and absolutely had us begging for more. The ris de veau was wonderful and the lamb was divine. Don't miss dessert! They offer a chocolate globe that is melted open with hot chocolate and reveals a pineapple core that perfectly balances everything. Finally, do get the fig dessert. One of the finest taste sensations I have had. The figs are tender and juicy ( when is the last time you said that about a fig?) and they are accompanied by an absolutely, perfectly balanced, berry sauce that leaves your mouth screaming , more, more!
The wine list is short, well chosen and reasonable priced. Without wine or any other drinks the cost is 40 -50 Euros per person. For this quality of food its a steal. They will be opening another dining establishment in November which will serve small plates. I can't wait.

“A wonderful experience at a very reasonable price”
Reviewed 7 October 2013

Yes, this restaurant is a bit in the middle of nowhere (in the St Lazare area near the Europe metro station) but, believe me, the food there is simply outstanding and... affordable! The've managed to create a €39 set menu for the evening with a starter, a main course and a dessert. The main course was foie gras which was delicate and tasty. Main course was fish (pollock) which was really nicely cooked. Dessert was this OUT OF THIS WORLD chocolate sphere which I absolutely adored. We took a nice bootle of red wine and a bootle of fizzy water. A great experience overall. The place is a little noisy and I would say there isn't enough waiters but they are all really friendly. I would love to return. Thank you Neva!!!

“great experience”
Reviewed 25 July 2013

In a poor gastronomic district, Neva is an exceptional experience. Very welcoming service the menu is short, simple but sophisticated (and I hate the word). The cuisine is classic French with a very modern approach. The ingredients are unusual and cooked in a perfect way using new techniques. The young female Mexican chef with her husband have a perfect maitrise of the French cuisine learnt in a classic restaurant, La Grande Cascade. The patissier also an ex Grande Cascade makes incredible original desserts (his chocolate sphere is a myth).
And what a threat their sweet breads...
Definately a place which deserves to be known

“go for the deconstructing chocolate sphere”
Reviewed 5 July 2013

The pea soup was a wonderful start to the 3-course meal — each vegetable in the soup bowl slightly changed the flavour of the soup so that each spoonful was nuanced. Fish — both the cod and John Dory were simple with clean flavours — black polenta was very good. The highlight was the deconstructing chocolate sphere for dessert.

Good food for the price in an unexpected location.
