Great affordable place to stay nice and clean, and you got to see the lift, but dont take any large suit cases as you have to do 2 trips. Take lots of money as there is a price for the locals and a price for the tourists, be prepared to get riped off.

We stayed at the Faubourg for 3 nights during the second week of the school holidays in England and payed £115 per night without breakfast - a 'special offer' from Late Rooms. We came back today and I see that the same room would now cost £64.64, which makes me feel quite annoyed. There were some good things about it - the bathroom was very spacious, and the water in the bath/shower was always very hot. There were also two very efficient radiators, one in the room and one in the bathroom, which we appreciated as it was a bit chilly. We stayed on the first floor at the back of the hotel, so it was very quiet, but it was also a bit dismal as the view from the patio doors was of other windows in the small quadrangle and a rather shabby flat roof. The room itself was on the small side and had dark furniture and a horrible brownish bedspread, but it was clean and had been quite recently painted. The thing which most disappointed us was the lack of any English channel on the TV so we couldn't even watch the news in the evenings.
The location of The Faubourg was not brilliant for the money we spent - we had thought that we would be able to walk to the Seine but it took us at least half an hour and after the first day we decided to take the metro, which was about 10 minutes walk from the hotel.
In all, the hotel was quite adequate for our purposes but we would have preferred somewhere more central and a room which was more uplifting. Also the man at the reception was not very helpful, and sometimes quite abrupt. When we asked about getting tickets for the local buses he was persistently trying to sell us a sightseeing tour for 50 euros.

rooms were adequate and clean, electrical sockets hanging out of the wall though - at little bit worrying!
make sure you get a room away from the road! i stayed in a front room on the first night and I didn't sleep at all as it was so noisy, when we moved to the back of the hotel it was much better.
That said, its fairly centrally located - about a 20/30 min walk from the Louvre, and is fine if you just want somewhere cheap and clean to stay. The 24 hr reception is also very handy if you are arriving late.

Please don't feel that the airport shuttle is the only way back to the airport..one extremely lovely night-duty man on reception kindly booked a taxi for us: however, a very insistent man on day-duty insisted on booking the shuttle - on reflection this is commission. The price for this service is extremely expensive..double the price we paid for the taxi from airport to hotel. The night-duty gentleman who was a guest as a friend of the owner of the hotel, but was covering for holiday relief, was disgusted with this!!!!!

We arrived at the hotel after a long journey.
It was relatively close to the train station however the short walk through the streets leading to the hotel felt much longer as the streets were littered with homeless people and beggars.
When we finally reached the hotel we were given a room on the fifth floor up five flights of broken and dirty stairs when we got to are room the door was open and when we went in the bathroom the shower was filthy.
We complained and were given two room cards and the choice of which ever one we wanted, however, when we got to one of the rooms it was already being occupied.
The only good thing about this hotel is that the bedrooms are decorated relatively nice, but any kudos this added is irrelavent as the stay was more unpleasant than anything and we chose to leave after one night there.
The hotel really isnt located in the best part of Paris and the main attractions are a hike away.
