We were assured by a female checkin staff on Friday that breakfast was included, but when it came time to checkout on Sunday, we were told that we are liable to pay 56 euros for breakfast!!! Had we known we would never have eaten such an ordinary breakfast but gone down to the local patisserie for a scrumptious and cheaper breakfast... We demanded to speak to the manager but the person at reception (by this time it was a different person, this time a male) screamed at us saying that the manager was not contactable on Sunday (and nor was the female staff member that we had previously dealt with) and insisted that if we did not pay he would call the police. Not letting this idle threat scare us we insisted that he call the police so we could speak to them about the deplorable way he was treating us. He proceeded to speak to a person on the phone in French and then gave us the handset. We attempted to explain our plight in broken French. Who knows who we were speaking to?!? We had enough of the bullying and walked out in tears. So much for our romantic weekend getaway to Paris... He humiliated us in front of other guests. Moral of the story is - get all promises in writing at this establishment as they do not play by the rules. We are not sure how many gullible people fall for this trick but it seems like this hotel's way of making a quick buck.
