The hotel is at 106 Rue de Magenta. It is very close to Gare du Nord (walking distance), but that is the only redeeming quality. I arrived late at night, and none of the lights in my room were working. I informed the management and went out for about 2 hours, so that they had time to fix it. When I come back at midnight, they informed me they couldn't fix it, and didn't have any other rooms, and wouldn't put me up at a different hotel.

The room itself is no larger than a closet. No heavy drapes on the window (the sun rises at 4:30am in summer in Paris).

It was also too pricey for what I got. I would never stay here again.

I stayed for one night in this hotel in June 2014 as a solo traveler. Booked over the internet through ebookers and felt it was very reasonably priced. Reception staff were friendly and helpful.

Room was small, with a double bed, air conditioning and a little en-suite. More than suitable for my needs. Bed was comfy, shower was good (if a little difficult to get into due to the layout of the bathroom). Breakfast was 12 euro, and had a good selection.

Location wise, it was a 5 minute stroll to Gare du Nord mainline train and metro which is why I chose it. The area is not the nicest, but during the day it is absolutely fine. At night it is also ok, but if you are walking back from places like the Louvre etc then make sure you don't walk up Rue St Denis as it is well known for prostitution and drugs. I walked up it with a Parisian friend of mine and had no problem, but I wouldn't be comfortable walking up it on my own. Apart from that street it was fine. Overall a nice stay.

Okay, you know Paris has small hotel rooms. We're below average size and the rooms here were adequate but if you are "oversized", you will probably find this unsuitable. The elevator can accommodate two people and luggage (if you're not claustrophobic) and there's no walking around the bed. Fat people may struggle to close the shower doors! Having said that, location is great (200m from Gare du Nord and Gare de l'Est), plenty of transport and restaurants and two supermarkets. The staff were friendly enough to smile at my schoolboy broken French (at least I tried) and were helpful.

We stayed five nights and would happily do so again.

Decided to go for a larger (privilege) room for an additional $ 50 (total $ 230) but it was difficult to figure out what that bought us in addition to the typical postage-stamp size room. Hotel is clean. The TV reception was bad (looked like a bad disc). Since it was a chilly day we tried to heat up the room but the temp control did not work. We were tired and decided not to bother with any complaints.

Room Tip: take a room on the interior courtyard to avoid street noise.

This hotel is perfect for a weekend break in Paris. It's inexpensive, central and cozy. Sure the rooms are a bit small but as are those in every other hotel in Paris.
The hotel is in a perfect location if your coming in from London on the Eurostar and it's close to the metro station if you want to visit the rest of the city.
Hotel staff are nice and friendly. 10/10 would recommend to anyone!

I stayed at this hotel for two nights 16/17 May. Room was small but perfect for my short stay. The hotel was clean, well kept and staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel is very convenient for Gare du Nord.

We had booked at the Libertel Gare du Nord Suede partly on the recommendation of the Trip Advisor reviews, and were very pleased we had done so. I agree with some reviews that the room and bathroom were spotlessly clean. We were fortunate in being upgraded to a Privilege room, with window on the Boulevard Magenta - not everyone's taste as it can be noisy, but wonderful for me (Parisian in origin) to have a bit of Paris atmosphere!! The smaller rooms did look small, from a glimpse we gained along the corridor. We found the breakfast, which we had on one day only (because we also wanted to experience the surrounding cafes) good value, since there is variety, and the possibility to have more than one tiny - albeit very good and very strong!- cup of coffee. Hotels, restaurants and cafes are more expensive every time I go to Paris, and this time was no exception... but thank you to the Libertel for making our stay so good!

Room Tip: if you want a bit of life, ask for a room on the street. If you want to be extravagant (and can affo...
