“Unique and charming”
Reviewed 26 August 2013

We stayed one night at the Henri 4 before moving to our timeshare and wish we could have stayed more. This is a very picturesque little hotel tucked away on the end of the street. Our room was a 2 room suite and perfect for a family of 4 and the decor was really quite stunning in an old world, classic style.
We really loved the location--very quiet yet a 5-10 minute walk to Notre Dame and the bridge. At the recommendation of the staff we used the bus instead of the metro--the bus stop is just across the street and we got to the Eiffel Tower in 15-20 minutes. There are plenty of shops and places to eat within 5 minutes walk.
The air conditioning worked very well, the beds were comfortable and the shower was adequate. There is a small elevator--mostly for sending luggage up and down--the stairs are fairly steep but easily manageable. The only negative was that we had to leave after staying only one night.

I stayed at this hotel at the recommendation of the Ultimate Paris Guide. I'm so glad they recommended this hotel. It's a charming little place and the location is quiet yet only two blocks from the Metro, restaurants, stores and a Taxi stand. The staff is very friendly and pleasant and they speak good English. Breakfast is fresh every day in the small dining are or in your room. The setting is Victorian style ... bed, curtains and pictures on the walls. Really very nice! The price is also reasonable. Would stay there again.

We stayed at this hotel the end of May for 9 wonderful days! Xavier was our concierge and he did a superb job finding us wonderful restaurants and even booking an illumination tour so we could see the Seine at night when we were disappointed we couldn't go on our dinner cruise due to the high water on the Seine. We were on the 3rd floor and never heard a sound in the hotel. We chose to have breakfast brought to our room each morning so we could eat on our balcony. We walked everywhere and found a great view of the Eiffel Tower from the Pantheon a few blocks from the hotel. We walked to the Louvre, the Musee d'Orsay, the Rodin museum and Notre Dame!!! We hope we will return to see our friends at the Residence Henri IV very soon!

A missed flight resulted in an expected night in Paris - so we jumped on Trip Advisor, did a quick search, and booked a room. When we arrived at the hotel a little later they were ready for us with a great room, a map they had marked up for us, and immediately booked a car for us the next morning to get us back to the airport. It's a tiny hotel on a dead end street, so the rooms are very quiet and have an "old world" charm. And the air conditioning works great!

Room Tip: We were in room 10 on the first floor. It has a tiny kitchenette which would have been helpful if w...

My husband and I stayed here for the first three nights of our Paris trip, and we both loved it. Although the hotel is small (I think about 15 rooms), there is someone at the desk 24 hours a day and all the staff we encountered were super friendly and spoke great English. Our room was I believe #1, right behind the front desk. There was a double door to cut down on noise, and we didn't notice any the whole time we were there. There was a very large bed (actually two singles pushed together, but made up as a huge bed), a small sitting area with a sink/fridge, and a bathroom with a large skylight. It was a much bigger room than I was expecting for the price! When we arrived, the man at the desk gave us a map of Paris with the hotel highlighted and the address printed on the back to show to cab drivers if necessary. You can get breakfast in the breakfast room OR brought to your own room for €8 per person, which is SO CHEAP compared to other hotels! The location is good, about a three minute walk to the Metro and a five minute walk to the Seine (right by Notre Dame cathedral), but we walked back and forth to other parts of the city (near the Louvre, etc) without even needing to use the Metro. Great base for a Paris stay, and a great price!

Room Tip: There is no elevator, so if you're not in #1 you'll have to drag your luggage up the stairs!

Dear Julie,

We are most grateful for your kind comment on the Residence Henri IV; Exhaustive and concise.

Allow me to rectify the room tip: There is an elevator in the hotel.

We sincerely look foward to hosting you again.

Our stay at Hotel Residence Henri 4 was overall a good experience, but I expected a little more based off of the TripAdvisor reviews. The room was a good size for Parisian standards. The main reason we booked here was because of the room setup and they allowed for more than 2 people in a room. However, it could get noisy at night and we had some issues sleeping.

The hotel staff was friendly, but we had some issues getting restaurant and shopping recommendations from them at times.

Metro and Notre Dame were close by.

Our stay was not spectacular, but we would absolutely recommend for larger groups (or families) who want to stay together in a room without spending a fortune in Paris.

Our room, #20, had the largest bathroom we have ever seen in a Paris Hotel. The air conditioning kept us cold - wonderful in 90 degree heat. A very minor carp might be about the breakfast, the croissants could be larger and flakier. How low do we stoop to find something to complain about? This is a great place for the money. When traveling by Metro (subway) use the Maubert-Mutualite to board and Cardinal Lemoine to get off - a walk down hill both ways.
