“Definitely worth a look - despite the renovations”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 July 2012

There are renovations going on at this hotel currently and this does mean that the reception was until today, moving into the new area, in a back room and not looking particularly welcoming/ attractive.

That being said, our room was clean, spacious (really very big for Paris standards), had complimentary teas and coffees and a minibar (which we didn't use but again for Paris we thought the prices were reasonable) and our bathroom had a shower and bath and was clean and fully functioning.

We were lucky when we stayed there as the renovation works did not start until at least 8:00 and we were on the third floor so they were not that obtrusive.

Having seen some of the previous reviews we did approach the hotel with some trepadation and we did not have the breakfast at the hotel so cannot comment on that - however there are some fantastic boulangeries and fruit stalls literally just around the corner and they served a petit dejeuner set menu of a croissant and a coffee for 3.50Euros - we didn't need anything more than that.

The staff at the hotel were responsive (they came to our room within 3 minutes of being called because our kettle was not working and replaced it within 10) and welcoming.

The best bit about this hotel without fail is the location - I think you would struggle to find as affordable a hotel anywhere near this - located a 5/10 minute walk to Ternes and Charles De Gaulle Etoile Metro stations and similarly close to the Arc De Triomphe and the Champs Elysee this is really an incredible location and one that meant that you didn't lose time every day travelling around to get to places before you could actually see anything. We had been to Paris previously and stayed in much smaller rooms in far worse locations and this was a really eye opener.

This hotel is undergoing renovations and the whole place smells like dirt and paint. It is NOT worth the money and the noise from the machinery is terrible. There is no breakfast room and so they are serving it in room only for 13 euros for a couple of bread rolls. The toilet wasn't flushed when I checked into my room and the receptionist made no apologies for the massive renovation inconvenience when I politely said I wasn't aware that this hotel was having them. In short, go somewhere else.

For god's sake, do not pay good money to stay in this rat hole until at least summer 2013 when they may have finished the intrusive building work. Being awaken at 7:30am every morning by the drilling and banging is bad enough, but having to pay for the privilege is even worse and don't even get me started on the state of the reception, hallways, stairs. The best room in the hotel was the lift - very nice. The room had very poor tv reception, the aircon/heater didn't work, the bedside lights didn't work - carry on abroad style. However, the location and surrounding area (with cafe's, markets, restaurants, etc.) is perfect and ideal for walking and exploring. You just have to ignore the drunken tramps that wee in the doorways outside and shout a lot - part of the charm maybe. My advice, generally a good area to stay but choose a different hotel.

Room Tip: Choose a different hotel.

Thank god my business was paying for this stay and it didnt come out of my pocket.

The service is perfect which is rare in Paris. The breakfast is gorgeous and location is amazing. The WIFI works very well.

BUT....

The rooms are very basic for a 4 star hotel. They are very small and no character. The bathroom is tiny. There was building works going on which was annoying. There is no restaurant, no bar, nothing you would expect from even a 3 star hotel.

Excellent location (central, but quiet), about 500 meters walking to the Arc de Triomphe and Champs Elysées. The closest Metro is Ternes , which is only a few blocks away from the hotel.
The staff were friendly, helpful and English speaking. The double room wasn't so big, but comfortable and clean, was equipped with the TV with satellite channels, air conditioning, wardrobe, tea and coffee making facilities and free Wi-Fi access. Our room had a balcony and nice and very clean bathroom.
Right down the street was a mini-market, and couple of bars, restaurants and brasseries, where you can have breakfast or brunch.
The easiest way to get to the hotel is to take Air France shuttle from the airport, which arrives to the Arc de Triomphe.
We'll definitely come back to the hotel on our next visit in Paris!!!

Room Tip: Ask for the room with tha balcony

Good location easily walkable to the Eiffel tower. We took the Le Cars Air France bus from CDG to their Arc location. It is possible to walk to the hotel but, with luggage, we took a taxi. Taxi was not favorable going the short distance and overcharged. Our son arrived later with a car. Parking was in a nearby public garage. Two days cost 70 euros. Breakfast at the hotel is 13 euros. The room was typically small but clean and comfortable. Very nice staff. There is a quality corner market very close so we were able to have coffee, sandwiches, sweets, yogurt, etc., which helped with the food budget. The hotel has big windows that open and they are very well insulated against the ouside noise. Overall good price, quality and proximity to tourist activities. At the Arc, there is an double-deck bus with the top deck open to the sky. One can get off and back on at any number of tourist stops. There are several restaurants near the hotel.
