“Wonderful little-visited museum”
Reviewed 8 August 2013

Wonderful sculptures from someone clearly less known then Rodin but to my (entirely untrained) eyes not so unlike him. I found the sculptures highly evocative and some even moving and liked the layout of the place -- different rooms and a recreation of the artist's atelier as well as a room and video explaining how they were made.

“A little off the beaten track”
Reviewed 16 June 2013

Worth the walk to find this one. The scale of the sculptures is just astounding and when we visited, there was hardly anyone else there.

“Beautiful”
Reviewed 9 June 2013

This is a beautiful museum that is well taken care of and updated. I am surprised that it is free as it is so current and modern!! The original artist studio is an oasis of artisitic spirit. There are serene sculpture gardens and indoor exhibits. This was a real treat for us!!!

“Stunning”
Reviewed 9 April 2013 via mobile

Amazing place. The museum is built around and above Bourdelle's home, studio and garden. The old and the new interconnect smoothly and it is nice to go through different kind of spaces.
There are huge statues and detailed portraits. It does not matter whether you like the art of sculpture, you can get kicks out of this.
Please note that very many statues are outside. English information is practically non-existent. I asked for an audio guide, but did not get one (misunderstanding probably). Entrance is free of charge, temporary exhibition fee was 5€.

“Great sculpture museum”
Reviewed 7 October 2012

I was tempted not to review the Musee Bourdelle, to keep it as a secret. That's how it feels when you visit the place. We were there on a Sunday morning in September, the sun shone, just a few people wondered around, we went from open courtyard to enclosed wings, to studios and we just kept being surprised by yet new areas and more wonderful sculptures by Antoine Bourdelle. And just like other museums owned and run by the city of Paris, there's no admission fee! How civilized can you get. Truly a must for those who enjoy sculpture.
