The place is close to the Voltaire Metro station, and the taxi stand on Place Voltaire.
Rooms are small and smelly. Linen is stained and there cigarette burn holes in the sheets and pillow cases. The bathrooms are a shoddy retrofit, barely workable. Only small hand towels are provided, no bath towels.
No lift, only a small spiral staircase to get upstairs, good luck if you have to misfortune to be up of the 5th floor.
Finally, the reception staff do not speak English, so unless you have better than rudimentary French, communication will be most difficult.
Free WIFI is provided, but the signal is no strong enough to carry past the first floor.
This is not a place I would choose to stay at again, but I is certainly quite cheap by Parisian standards. As always you only get what you pay for, but in my case I do not believe I got value for money.

Room Tip: There are no good rooms.

Good area, nice staff and almost everything clean, with wifi and private bathroom.

I found the room nice and clean, but the only thing that really I couldn't handle was the bed sheets which seemed to be old/dirty from heavy use.. ended up sleeping dressed in the top of them lol

BUt it's in a good location with nice staff.

It is in a nice neighborhood, near to Bastille and Metro Voltaire. The hotel itself is old-fashioned seedy,
like a period setting in a movie from the 1950s or 60s. If you want modern amenities, keep looking.

Room Tip: Ask for a low floor if you have luggage

First off you have to put this hotel into context. Paris is in my opinion one of the worst cities in the world for hotels. The demand from visitors and limitations on supply mean they are all grossly over-priced. So comparatively the room here which for 55 Euros offered a (small) double bed, a TV and a bathroom looked poor against say the one we stayed at in Belfast last year for almost the same price which was twice the size and had a sofa and a good size desk.

Considering this you have to look at the positives, and for this place I think they are many. The location is very good and it's easy to get down to Bastille where there are lots of good restaurants, bars, and general nightlife. The staff were very friendly and helpful when checking in. The room itself was a bit stark and in need of some refreshment, but everything worked, the bed was comfortable, the shower hot and powerful, and it had a TV if no other facilities.

Baring in mind that at around the 50Euro mark you're talking entry level in Paris, unless you go for a Hostel, you're probably not going to get much better than this. But this is for the no-frills traveler, those who travel light, are on a budget, and are prepared to compromise. Did I enjoy my stay? Not especially, as over the past 10-15 years i've got acustomed to staying in 4-star accommodation so am used to light airy rooms, balconies, sofas, and plenty of space. Would I stay again? Probably not. However the 20 year old version of me would have found this more than good enough and would have both returned to and recommended it.

Room Tip: There's no lift here, so ask for something on first or second floors.

Got a room on the fifth floor to later discover there is no elevator! Only room left and already paid so started climbing...
Room is simple, especially the bathroom which is right next to the bed and is a combination of shower/sink/toilet in 1.5m². No shower curtain. Difficult to organise your stuff on the sink.
Wifi was not working properly on the fifth floor.
Some not so clean aspects in the room: big stain on the side of the bed, telephone, spiderweb.
Receptionist told me we could not return too late because hotel would be closed by then?
Average hotel for indeed a cheap price.Good connection with public transport.

Room Tip: Try to book a room on the lower floors as there is no elevator. There is no view and no wifi to be enjoyed on the higher floors anyway.
