“Room with with views of Paris do not include view of Eiffel Tower”
Reviewed 9 August 2014

Hotel is easy to find although if you can avoid going around the Arc de Triomphe your stress levels will be lower. Car park beneath hotel costs €29 a day.
The hotel is the largest Novotel we have stayed in. Reception area was busy and had a nice atmosphere. Reception was efficient and helpful.
We stayed in "superior rooms with views of Paris". Having read other reviews the rooms we had were not dated but were comfortable, clean and well equipped. The remote control for TV was missing but as we discovered this at 11.30pm did not report it until the next morning. Housekeeping could not have been more apologetic and would have rectified problem immediately. We did not encounter any difficulty with the free wi-fi.
The view was disappointing as I had assumed would have view of Eiffel Tower or the Seine. This was not the case.
Had a drink in the bar in the evening, Again a nice atmosphere with friendly staff. Was well worth going outside of the hotel at night to see view of Eiffel Tower.
Breakfast was part of our package. It was more than adequate and certainly set us for the day. Would not have paid €24 for it.

The location was central and close to metro.

Staff

Room Tip: Rooms 2509 and 2510 were comfortable. interesting view but don't expect views of Eiffel Tower.

My sister and I checked out of the Novotel Eiffel Tower yesterday after a 5 nights stay. Below is our experience.

Check-in: Ours took 40 minutes, which was way too long. And it seemed like long check-ins are a consistent issue at this hotel because every single time we passed through the lobby, which was -at least- twice a day, there was always a line of 2 or 3 parties waiting to check in. Another thing that bothered me was that due to booking issues, we missed our first night of stay. But the hotel refused to credit that night even though we stayed for the remainder of the trip. We could've just let that night go to waste and booked a different hotel for the remainder of our trip had we known of some really irritating issues at this hotel (some are listed below).

Location: The hotel is located 15 minutes walk to the Eiffel Tower, and 30-40 minutes walk from the Arch de Triomphe. Although the walk to and from the Tower is practically short, I do not recommend walking after dark because the area leading to the hotel looks quite sketchy, and there is a group of homeless people who sleep outside one of the buildings on the same street the Novotel is. Other than that, there is a very good supermarket (Metroprix) about 3 blocks from the hotel in the other direction, also a very good shopping mall on that same street, with a movie theater and patisserie across from it. There are 3 metro stations nearby, one of them is by the Eiffel Tower. The hotel also has a taxi station right outside.

Rooms: We stayed on the 30th floor, room 3006. Our room had a partial view of the Eiffel Tower (most buildings that area are tall and they block the view). But we could see the upper half of the Tower, which was very nice. The room was big and it had a safe and a refrigerator. The bathroom was big as well. The beds were not the most comfortable, but not too bad for a short stay. One thing I did not like at all was that we could hear every single drop or stump from the upper floor. These occurred almost every minute for some reason and it almost drove us insane, specially in those mornings when we wanted to sleep in or when we wanted a nap.

Elevators/lifts: Very fast. Wait, let me rephrase that: the elevators/lifts are SUPER fast. They are also very silent. Our room was just outside the elevators and we did not hear them them from our room.

Guests: This hotel caters to families, therefore, there are little ones (and not so little ones) everywhere. Although they are most often seen running around and making noise in the lobby area, if you're looking for a relaxing of romantic vacation, this hotel is definitely not for you. There's a play area equipped with a Kinect video game at the arrival and departure area on the first floor (the lobby is on the second floor). Consider yourself warned.

Service: Could be better. When we arrived, there were 8 front desk agents at the desk, but only 3 were actually working. Those working were chatty to the guests, which was good customer service, but not so good when there is a very long line waiting to check in. So long it took half the lobby space, which is considerably big. It became clear to me that these agents don't seem to consider the fact that most guests who visit Paris do travel long distances and many hours to get there. The last thing a traveler wants after a very long flight followed by the rest of the airport nonsense and customs craziness, is standing in yet another line for a long time to check in at a hotel. Add the noise the kids make when playing around or crying in the lobby, and anyone can easily go insane. (Yes, it can get very noisy there.) The agents who were not working we're just standing there, doing absolutely nothing other than dropping funny comments to their colleagues every now and then. All the while us, the very tired travelers, stood in line patiently.

Check out: Overall, it was a smooth process. No surprise charges nor standing in line too long to check out.

Overall, it was not a bad hotel, but it will certainly be my last choice on my next trip to Paris.

Bit of a mehhh hotel. Nothing flash. We stayed here for 3 nights.
Stained carpets in rooms, foam mattresses and half sized pillows..... what is this???
Inconsistent house keeping. Only 1 small bottle of water for 3 people then none for the next 2 days. Tissues ran out so I even opened the dispenser for them to see but they weren't replenished. ... Maybe they are blind. ....
We stayed in a Superior Room and were issued with only 2 foam cups to have coffee with. .... pity if we wanted another coffee. The next day I stole extra cups from the house keeping trolley.
Males be warned, you need to wear speedos in order to go for a swim in the hotel pool because shorts are for the beach we were told. .... what a load of rubbish!! I have read the manager's response to other reviews about this issue and he said it's for hygienic reasons. ....I would love for him to explain this. ...I didn't know swimming sorts were unhygienic. ...
Free wifi constantly drops out and you need to keep signing in. ...painful, or even dropped out whilst trying to send this review. .
Good location away from the hustle and bustle but would I stay here again. ...No.

Stayed at this hotel for a short break to see the sights of Paris and choose this hotel for its location. We were not disappointed as it's within easy walking distance from the Eiffel tower and the Trocadero (about 15-20 mins) plus the river Seine runs right Along side the hotel. We had a lively room on the 12th floor overlooking the river. The room was clean and comfortable with fresh towels and toiletries supplied daily. It was great to also have free wi-do in the room. We found the hotel shop was quite expensive - milk was 8 euros a carton -but that is to be expected I guess. We did t eat at the hotel as we wanted to savour the French atmosphere of local restaurants so I cannot comment on that. All in all a really nice modern hotel that I would definitely stay at again.

Room Tip: Don't shop at the hotel - lots of cheaper shops around

We stayed 3 nights at Novotel Eiffel. It's in a relatively good location. 10 min walk to metro station.
The rooms were average , a bit small and dated. The floor needed some tlc. Bathroom was really small.
Breakfast was pricey for 24€ Per person so we opted for outside cafés and Boulangers.

We were in Paris for four nights and went to restaurants recommended by the concierge staff three nights and they were all very good and well priced. We had a lovely view of the Seine from our room but were disappointed by the buffet breakfast. I would avoid it unless you like the same old staples and sitting with strangers as there were no tables for two only tables of eight or unless it is included in your accom.

We stayed for 3 nights in July 2014. We opted for the family setup with a connecting room for our 12 and 14 year old. When we arrived the room smelled so badly of smoke we almost heaved, so we immediately headed to the front desk to change (check up front about non-smoking, non-smelling rooms!). The new rooms were OK, with a small handy fridge to store snacks bought from the mall next door. The TV didn't work at all, but I guess that wasn't a big deal. One thing worth noting is that on a map this looks pretty close to the Eiffel Tower, but it is a good 15-20 minute walk away. All in all, this was a pretty good base to spend 3 days touring Paris with a family.
