“Stay at Hotel Astrid”
Reviewed 7 October 2013

We were a family of four from India, who were visiting Berlin for the first time. We had read reviews on Trip Advisor before booking here and we were not at all disappointed. We had booked One room with four beds, which was spacious and very elegant and extremely clean. . We could not have asked for a better location. The staff were helpful whenever we had a query and the lady at the reception was very warm and friendly whenever we met at the reception or at breakfast. We would love to stay here again, if ever we come back. The only puzzling incident we had was our Visa Forex card was not accepted for payment and we had to pay through our credit card here unlike in other European cities we visited during this holiday. Perhaps the hotel could update themselves on this? However,we would love to stay here again, if ever we come back and would certainly recommend it to others

Room Tip: if you are a family of four and would like to stay together do choose the room where we stayed , whi...

I can't speak to all of the rooms in this 3 star hotel, but I can tell you ours (Rm 322) was incredibly small, with barely enough room to move about with our luggage stored on the desk and chairs. Coupled with a barely passable mattress, these were the least comfortable three nights of our twenty day trip.

Bathroom was OK in size, though there was a rather unsightly tile falling off the wall.

The lobby area is nice and the hotel does have some charm. Lovely breakfast buffet served in the lobby area equipped with modern, though child-sized tables and chairs.

One of the three front desk employees was helpful..the other two gave us the impression we were bothering them.e.g "Yes sir, some of the rooms have tea pots and some don't. Yours doesn't and it never will!"

Avenue Carnot is one of the smaller streets that radiate off the Arc de Triomphe circle making the Hotel Astrid very close to Metro, shopping and restaurants with a limited walk.

Definitely will chose another hotel on our next visit to Paris.

Room Tip: Do not stay in Room 322 unless you are solo and only have a backpack.

Dear Sir,
We thank you for taking time to share your experience at the Hotel Astrid.
We are sorry that your room was not up to your expectations.
We have 2 room categories : classic and Superior. It is true that our Superior rooms are larger than the classic ones. Our superior rooms also have a full bathroom (instead of a full shower room for the classic ones). There is a courtesy tray in each of our Superior rooms.
It seems that you had reserved a classic room (there is no room n°322 at the Hotel Astrid).
For an extra charge of 20 € per night, we would have been happy to upgrade you.
As for the mattress, they all have been replaced last winter (2012).
We hope that Paris will have the pleasure to welcome you again soon.
We stay at your service for further information.
Best regards
Florence Guillet

Booked this hotel because of the tripadvisor reviews and the cheap deal - £180 per night inc buffet breakfast. I wouldnt usually book anything less than a four star in Paris because frankly you stand a good chance of getting a flea pit. But wow what a find Hotel Astrid is! Tiny and tidy. Immacculately clean rooms, 200 yards from Arc de Triomphe on a quiet side street, central location for everything and approx 20 min taxi ride in easy traffic from Gard du Nord station. Perfect for us on a two day one night family visit. It also has bags of French charm - which is more than can be said for the horrid man who checked us in. He is the rudest man I have EVER met. I appreciate we arrived an hour and a half earlier than the two pm check in but all we wanted to do was drop our bags into the room and get lunch. But his manner was so rude! I spent 7 yrs working in the uks largest hotel chain and if a front desk member of staff had rolled his eyes and spoke to a guest as he did to us, they would have been in big trouble. Instead he made us wait which was not easy for my five year old. There was also nowhere to leave bags. However, the other front desk man was lovely as were all the other staff. We will def be staying there again. Dont hesitate to book here.

Stayed here 2 nights largely because of Trip Advisor reviews. Superior Double room was barely big enough to be able to open the door 1/2 way before bumping into the bed. At a cost of 175 Euros per night, the value is not very good. Location is good however and bathroom was fine. Staff was not particularly outgoing, but efficient. Breakfast nothing special - good croissants, but hot chocolate in a packet. Excellent fresh squeezed OJ. Have stayed in Paris many times. There are far better alternatives to this hotel. We will not be back.

Loved everything about this hotel: location, staff, and amenities. It's in the perfect location: just a couple blocks away from a metro stop (that we used every day), and next to two darling cafes (that we ate at). There are also a couple groceries, a butcher, a pastry and bread shop, and a pharmacy right next door and you can see the Arc de Triomphe from the window at the top of the street. It was great! The staff went out of their way to be friendly and personable, always striking up conversations with us and making us laugh. The complimentary breakfast every morning was perfect! The rooms are on the small side, but that wasn't even an issue because we were only ever in the room to sleep at night. The next time I'm in Paris I will definitely be staying here. It made the trip that much more perfect!

My friend and I just returned from our first European experience. We stayed at Hotel Astrid for five nights. Everything about our stay was perfect. First of all, the hotel is in the PERFECT location - close enough to the Arc de Triomphe that you can see it from the rooms, but far enough away that it's quiet. There's a metro stop just down the street making it very convient for touring. There are several cafes close to the hotel with friendly and helpful staff (most of which speak English). The hotel itself was wonderful! The staff was friendly and always willing to chat with us and give us recommendations. The room was always clean. It was small, but quaint. I could not have been happier with our experience at Hotel Astrid. I could have stayed here for weeks.

We stayed at the Astrid hotel in June, and we loved it. Small room, normal for Europe, but we fit perfectly, we had a room with a balcony on the 6th floor and you can see the Arc, beautiful view. Very clean hotel, friendly staff, great breakfast, breads, cheeses which I loved all of them, meats, cereal, eggs, yogurts, juice, everything was just great. Location is fantastic, just a block away from the Arc de Triumph and Champs Elysee, Metro station is right there, also the bus stop for Le cars is on the same street, so it is very convenient. Wifi works great, I definitely recommend staying at this hotel, and I will stay again.
