“Good value in a nice area”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 May 2006

I picked the Hotel Langlois because of its high ratings on Trip Advisor and positive reviews in various guidebooks. I was not disappointed. Staff were very friendly and helpful, going out of their way to make us feel welcomed. We had reserved a standard double, but upon arrival we were told the room was not available the first night, so we would be put in a smaller room at a reduced rate and given a free breakfast. The room was small but was okay. Breakfast was fresh and offered a good selection. The next night they moved all our stuff to a very large room that we occupied the rest of our stay. Area around the hotel is not touristy, but is very convenient to the metro for getting to tourist destinations, especially the Montmartre-Pigalle area. Plenty of interesting places to eat all around the hotel. We and our friends were the only Americans at the hotel during our stay. If you need to stay at a Holiday Inn or Hilton or must have everyone around you able to speak english, this isn't the place for you. But if you want to stay someplace that has its own character and want to get the true feel and flavor of Paris, then this may be the right place at a very reasonable price.

We stayed here in early May, 2006.

Considering the price of hotels in Paris, this hotel is quite a bargain.

The staff are nice.

Three of us stayed in a two room suite. We had a big bed and two sort of cot sized fold out beds. I didn't sleep on the fold out beds but apparently they were adequate. The rooms were quite spacious, they were clean, and service was good.

The elevator is a relic of a long bygone era It's small and quaint, and in very good condition!. There are a pair of doors behind the front door of the elevator. These inner doors have to be closed for the elevator to work. Hotel guests keep forgetting to close those doors, or don't know they have to, and then the elevator won't move. The young man at the desk is frequently running up the stairs to get the elevator. (He is in very good shape!)

We went to the corner café for coffee and croissants every morning, but the breakfast room in the hotel looked nice…starchy white tablecloths, coffee, big glasses of orange juice…I don’t know what else they had, but people in there looked happy!

I had wondered if we would like the location of the hotel since it is in the 9th arrondissement. It turned out that I did like it. Most tourists stay in the arrondissements surrounding the Seine: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7. Those areas are maximally thick with tourists. After spending a day in the Saint Germain area I felt like I needed elbow room and was very happy to go back to the 9th which is mostly French.

The Saint Lazare Metro station is at the corner of the hotel’s block. It could hardly be more convenient. A taxi stand is also at that corner. There’s a computer with Internet in the breakfast room which is available for use without charge. One of my friends made daily calls to Florida from our room and the charges for the calls were not high. We heard very little noise from the street in our rooms.

All three of us were quite satisfied with this hotel.

Stayed at the Hotel Langlois based on its reviews on tripadvisor and the reasonable price. There were 3 of us so they added a cot which was fairly comfortable. The high ceilings (we were on floor 2, which is really the 3rd floor in North America) made the room seem more spacious. The bathroom was quite large. It was almost as big as the bedroom. The place was clean. Located on a quiet street just steps away from the Metro. It's just 3 blocks north of the Opera, 2 block from the department stores, Lafayette and Au Printemps. The staff were friendly and helpful. We had blown a fuse using our North American adaptor and they were quick to fix it. There's an elevator. And free internet service in the small dining area. It was great value for our stay in Paris. We would definitely stay there again!

I chose Langlois because we prefer hotels with character rather than chain establishments and it certainly didn't disappoint. We stayed in room 41, which was spacious and well furnished. The bathroom was huge with a beautiful art deco sink and bath. The location was also great - we walked to the Louvre in about 25 minutes and back from Montmatre in 20. Getting to the hotel was really easy from the airport, as there's a direct bus to Opera which is a 10 minute walk from the Langlois. I would certainly recommend this place for people who are looking to stay somewhere a little bit different in the centre of Paris.

This hotel is rated 2* but we found on our one night stay that it was roomy, clean, friendly, peaceful and very French (ie not an anonymous multiple). The free newspaper at reception (a Guardian) and the free access Internet computer in the small dining room were a real bonus. We don't really understand why it is only 2*.

We walked from Gare du Nord (overnight bag only) but it is extremely close to the Metro and the many buses. We had a magical walk from Sacre Coeur in the evening back to the hotel.

We'll be going back.

Stayed for 4 nights at this hotel - chosen when it was higher up the tripadvisor ratings! however, we weren't disappointed - it's great. Quiet, central location with the metro along the street. Didn't manage to get up for breakfast - put the do not disturb sign outside our door and we were left to sleep on. Had breakfast at the top of the Gallerie Lafayette - as recommended by another review - great views to the Eiffel Tower.

We stayed in room 55 - a picture of it is on the hotel profile on Trip Advisor. It was huge, gorgeous and ideal for us. Large windows to open for a great view - very Parisien. We ate at a few bistros nearby - good value and convenient.

Staff at the hotel were lovely - nothing was a problem and they spoke great English. Free internet access a bonus.

Would definitely recommend the hotel.

Very good location for shopping, tourist attractions and transport links, be sure to get a room at the very top of the house as the rest are noisy (we had 4 rooms between our party all over the building). By Paris standards it is value for money, the rooms were a good size with decent bathrooms and were nice and clean. Breakfast is good but you can do as well in the cafe's locally for less money.
