This hotel is a building site at the moment, visitors can hardly get to their rooms, paint and clothes & stuff everywhere & the workers don't even think of making room when I tried to get through with our stroller and baby in it. I don't even want to think about what the fumes may have done to our baby's health. There was a hole in the hallway that I got stuck in a couple of times.

The room was dirty, probably due to all the building work but it didn't seem like they even try to vacuum it at all.

Wifi was patchy and didn't really work.
The toilet was designed in such way that the knees would be squashed against the wall when trying to sit on it. Don't try and lean on to it neither - a very wobbly construction.

The hotel was in parts still advertised as a 3 star hotel but must have lost a star recently, it's actually only a 2 star.

For one night was very good. However, the carpet could be a little more vacuuming.
The room was very close to the breakfast room, so too loudly.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience you had. Please do not hesitate to ask the Reception for an upstairs room. All of our rooms are soundproofed and very quiet.

If you plan to stay anytime soon (July/August 2012) be advised they are doing extensive repairs and the place is half pulled apart and half smelling of paint. That said the rooms are tiny and old, the bathroom was so small you cannot go to the toilet without your face pressed against the wall, wifi was patchy and despite advertising as a 3 star, it is in fact a 2 star.
The staff, however, were nice. They always tried to help with whatever the problem even though there was not much they could do.

Our family of four recently stayed here with Trafalgar Tours. We had two rooms beside each other, which was perfect for us. Having researched European hotels in general (not North American chain hotels in European countries), we were comfortable with the size of our rooms. Yes, there was some choreography involved at times (!), but that was part of the experience of staying in a smaller hotel. Yes, there was painting on our floor, but as we were out exploring the city, this was not an inconvenience.

While the same items were available every morning for breakfast, we did not leave hungry and enjoyed too many of the lovely pastries. The coffee was fresh and so were the croissants. There was even freshly squeezed orange juice, in addition to the regular juice from the dispenser.

We found the staff friendly and helpful, especially when we had to change rooms as we extended our tour by one day. The family suite on the 6th floor was cozy with two single beds added in, but this was no deterrent to enjoying our stay.

Sometimes I wonder why people leave home at all, based on their reviews. Are they this unhappy with everything, everywhere? Life is too short!

I would recommend this hotel, as it was very close to the metro, and a lovely walk way from the Eiffel Tower.

Positives: staff helpful; location good. Negatives: (1) how could Trafalgar Tours book hapless customers into hotel where paint fumes made it hard to breathe (asthmatics in group had to resort to inhalers bks of the fumes--desk clerk said couldn't move to a no-paint floor bks no rooms available) , shower door wouldn't close because not mounted properly, sink faucet turned when turned handle, sink didn't drain properly so always dirty, knees bumped wall when sitting on commode, curtains fell down bks rod not affixed properly (2) unvarying daily breakfast of stale cornflakes, stale croissants, canned fruit when nearby markets were full of fresh, maid going around shushing people bks someone was sleeping in room behind breakfast area (3) construction work--doors propped in halls, hammering all day, tripping over painters as we returned to rooms, hall floors covered in slippery plastic or pressboard and adhesive. Renovation really needed, but did it occur to anyone to renovate in off-season, not in July? (4) hard to sleep w/Indian restaurant rattling dishes next door, but closing window not good option w/o air conditioning

Room Tip: Don't let them put you in one of the rooms w/o separate bathroom, unless you don't care about privacy for toilet. (Note for ratings above: there was no swimming pool--I just can't get it to delete)
