“Great Location, good breakfast and friendly staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 October 2013

We struggled to find a budget priced hotel near to the Gare Du Nord for the Arc de Triomphe weekend, but were very please we booked at the Timhotel. Excellent location near to Gare D'est and Gare du Nord with a metro station less than 5 minutes walk away. Lively, but not rundown area of the city with some good restaurants, cafes and excellent transport links. Staff were very welcoming, helpful and friendly even when they couldn't find our reservation on their system and allowed us to store our luggage as we had arrived early in the day.
As a party of 6 we had 3 double rooms on the third floor, all different shapes and sizes. Our room was not large but had all the space we needed, a decent sized en suite with shower over the bath and a comfortable, large double bed. Lots of storage space for bags and a decent sized wardrobe.
Even though it was only 18 / 19 degrees outside it was very, very warm in the room, but the air-con helped a little and the only window opened to the fire escape - we weren't too bothered as we hadn't expected a view!
Breakfast was excellent, buffet served in a clean, spacious, modern breakfast room with endless, tea, coffee and hot chocolate. Standard continental breakfast of cold meats, 4 different cheeses, rolls, bread / toast, pastries, jam, honey, yogurts, fresh fruit and natural yogurt - a bargain for 13 euros a head.
We booked through www.booking.com and paid under £100 per room per night which considering the location and the fact that many hotels were full for the racing weekend was excellent (and a lot less than the advertised 185 euros per room per night listed in the hotel lobby). Didn't try the wifi but our friends used it OK and there was a modern PC in the lobby along with a working (if small lift).
Not the greatest hotel we've ever stayed in but served its purpose well for the weekend and would recommend if you're not too fussy and just want somewhere to sleep and have a good breakfast.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front of the building have the best views and biggest windows. Lift to all five floors...

We were there in September. Not concerned about room size as we only needed it for sleeping. Our room was on the top floor at the end of the hall and was clean and quiet. Breakfast was included. Basic stuff but the staff kept it well supplied. We picked this hotel for location to train station, Metro and buses there too. We took the local #350 bus from the airport, 6 euros each. The open top tour bus has a stop close to hotel. WiFi worked fine, Computer and printer in lobby. Staff very helpful and gave us very good information as where to go for local artists. Found enough good restaurants in the area thanks to this site

My husband and I stayed here for our first trip to Paris. We were very satisfied with the overall experience, staff, rooms and location of this quaint little hotel. The location is in sight of the Gare de l'Est train station, which was very convenient for catching the metro (or train) to get around the city. We prepared ourselves for small accommodations, however, were pleasantly surprised when we arrived to find ourselves in a larger, corner room on the second floor. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Yes, it's noisy outside-it's PARIS! However, with the windows shut while sleeping, we achieved a good nights rest. The bathroom was clean and nicely furnished. We did catch a quick glimpse of some of the other rooms, yes, some are small, however, once again, it's PARIS. It's possible to get a small room almost anywhere you stay, especially in this price range. The breakfast was also good; fresh croissants, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, fresh juices, breads, cereals and proper coffee. Staff was very accommodating and always willing to answer any questions for a young, english speaking couple new to the city. I would recommend for any mildly versed and open minded traveler, this experience was one I would repeat.

Room Tip: Our corner room was nice size and had good views.

Dear Megan,

Thank you very much for your positive comment, mentioning the hotel’s convenient location next to the Gare de l’Est and some other of its advantages such as the wide choice of fresh products available at breakfast and the staff’s helpfulness. In case you will come back to our hotel and wish to book a quieter room, do not hesistate to mention so upon your bookig as we have rooms overlooking the street and the backyard.

Thank you again and we are looking forward to welcoming you as a guest again,
Best regards

I stayed from 28 Sept to 1 Oct, 2013 and during the period of stay I experienced a very uncomfortable stay as the rooms are very small hardly any space to move within the room, in some rooms, there is no lift and one has to carry his own luggage through stairs which are in round shape and narrow and no much light is there in passage and looks very scary. There is no ventilation in most of the rooms and more so air conditioning is not working at all only blowers are functioning at a very low speed. Rooms are very humid and gives smell so one can not stay comfortable in a room. Staying in such rooms gives impression that you have been punished for something. Most importantly, the hotel does not have cooking facility in their kitchen. They put all the stuff for breakfast, procured from outside. Only hot milk/water can be provided through the small electric jar and rest you have to eat all cold irrespective either its boiled Egg or something. There is no sufficient staff to look after your need in the room. Hotel has provided plastic glasses in the bathroom and plastic small spoons for making tea in the room which are not at all matching with the standards of 3* hotel. All the times only receptionist is available to handle your all queries irrespective its in your room or somewhere in the hotel premises. They have only one staff in the restaurant who can refill the stock in the morning and thereafter you will not find someone in the restaurant after breakfast. I have a doubt about the board who have awarded 3* category to this hotel. When you compare 3* hotel globally, you will find that this hotel stands nowhere.

Room Tip: This is my very latest personal experience about the hotel and recommend people who are planning to...

very easy to find and really close to gare l'est. On a not to busy street. The hotel is slightly old, but kept clean and good. mattresses where very good (as new) and gave us a very good night rest. if you are good on foot, you can walk to most of Paris' tourist attractions.
very friendly reception (also in english), we did not have breakfast at the hotel is we thought €13 a person is a little to much. but there are many shops/ bakeries around to get your breakfast from (including the metro station at gare l'est, where you can get a breakfast for €6 p/p)
however there is some rebuilding on the backside that starts at 8.00 (midweeks) a very nice time to leave the hotel and get in to Paris if you ask us.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in late September and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We didn't spend much time in the hotel, but found it more than adequate for our needs. Firstly, the location was ideal being 10 min walk from Gare Du Nord, and a 2 min walk from both the Gare De L'est and the nearest Metro station. Also, it is very close to the canal, which was nice for a stroll in the evening, and the hop on hop off buses stopped at the end of the street, which worked really well.
The hotel reception area is quite small but the staff were really helpful. We must have met 4 different members of staff over the 3 days and they were all really good. We only had breakfast on one morning - it was all you could eat for 13 euros, with a good choice of breads, pastries, cereals, cold meats and a variety of hot and cold drinks. The restaurant area was very nice and looked as if it had recently been refurbished. I didn't notice a bar in the hotel, but there were plenty of bars close by.
We stayed in room 551, which was at the top of the hotel via a small lift that seemed to work well but the corridors leading to the room are quite narrow. The room itself was perfectly adequate for the amount of time we spent in it. It had a large double bed, large screen tv and a distant view of the top of the Eiffel Tower. As it was at the back of the hotel it was very quiet. The decor was a bit tired but ok and the bathroom was very small but once again, adequate for us. There was tea and coffee facilities but beware - no milk!
At the end of the stay, the staff were happy for us to leave our cases in their baggage room until we caught our our late train.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay and I would recommend this as a good no frills 3* hotel in a great location.

My travel agency helped book the hotel for me but It was a great upgrade. When we arrived, the staff had everything ready for us. Including upgrading our room from a twin beds (standard European) to what I would call a Cal King sized after realizing we were on our honeymoon. The staff was super nice and accommodating. One of the girls Emily even booked our shuttle to Orly for our flight on to Rome and even wrote out a 1 page note on how to get from Rome airport to the city centre and even put food places for us to help.

I have to say for our trip through Europe, this was one of my favorite hotels.

It's also 1 block from Gare De L'est metro station and convenient to get to all the stations

We were on the 5th floor overlooking the street and park
