“good value”
Reviewed 30 December 2013

Stayed with family (3 rooms) during Christmas peak. Booked 2 month in advance; Very small rooms and small hôtels meaning most rooms are near elevator/stairs. Clean and renovated recently. Street quite Noisy from 1st floor. Good location for theater behind Musee Grevin and its nice passage and walking distance to Grands Magasins. Huge issue with breakfast room (too small despite staff best efforts to accomodate). Reception guy was brilliant on Friday 27th December afternoon but his colleague next day was really poor (including with internal colleagues). I had to call him twice for wifi code, then had to walk down to ask again and he simply said : oh, yes the code may be wrong.

We stayed as a family, 2adult and 1 child from 27Nov to 01 Dec2013. The rate includes continental bfast, wifi and spacious room and toilet, at least for Paris standard. Around 100-200 meters away from Grand Boulevard metro and Cadet. Around it are plenty of bars and resto to choose from. The staff are very helpful and speaks good english. The rooms are well lit and newly refurbished.Downside though, the lift is always faulty, so you'll have to suffer again climbing the stairs after an exhausting up and down the stairs of Paris metro.

I had a reservation at the IBIS nearby and because of a problem, I was transferred to the Mercure.
So I got a room there at the price of the IBIS-room, when i checked in I was told at least three times that this was an upgrade and that the room would have been more expensive than at the IBIS.
Honestly, I saw the price you normally have to pay for a room there - this is certainly too much for what you get. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, the cloation in the center is OK, but the price for the rooms should be at the IBIS-Level and not the Mercure-level.

There are other Mercure-hotel that have a better price-value relation not far away.

I definately have to advise tourists from booking this one. Here is my pointers
1.For the price you pay, the rooms are matchboxes.Completely stuffed with big unfunctional furniture.
2.The staff does not understand english.I was supposed tp pay one thousand sixty euros for my stay which turned out to be one thousand six hundred for 7 nights. It was a mistake made by the lady at the front desk who kept repaeting one thousand sixty for sixteen hundred euros.i was told i will be upgraded to a bigger room which was never done.i was told to pack & move in the morning, then put on stand by, then was aked again to move, then asked again to wait till evening..al this in the middle of extremely tiring busy week of work.I was extremely hassled by the small room & my own luggage which i wanted to throw out after a point as there was no room left to walk.trust me one small cabin luggage is all you should have to stay here.
3.Unfriendly staff, non accomodating & cold.
4.overrated.in the neighbourhood you have many other pleasant hotels for half the price.
5.if atall this hotel scores, is for the location. But then there are many many options to choose from in this area.
I suggest not wasting your money on this definately.
