“Good location to be if you like to be near Marais”
Reviewed 17 January 2014

But the rooms are so smaller than it is presented on the pictures. I was disappointed The rooms are clean and The Stuff is friendly, very helpful. It is wonderful to be near Bastille, Marais where you have fantastic little boutiques, bistros, and everything. There is Monoprix to run down for urgent needs(french supermarchais). I loved the neighborhood.

The hotel is well placed for the Marais and has been modernised inside. It is clean. Thats all I can say positively.
The rooms are tiny, with almost no storage space apart from a wardrobe with one shelf. We could not even live out of our suitaceses as there was not the space to place our cases horizontally and open. We kept on banging our legs on the corner of the bed as we struggled to get round the room.
The hotel has virtually no facilities - apart from a tiny foyer dining area offering very poor breakfasts. Security is atrocious - nearly every time the was a different person at the desk, who made no check as to who we were when offering us the key. First time we were given the wrong room number and its key. We started to move our stuff in and then realised that the room was already full of someone else's stuff. Another day we were given the wrong key, giving us access to another persons room. One time, not being able to find our room key we were given a master key to use.

Room Tip: Try another hotel

A gem of a hotel in a quiet street off Rue de Rivoli in the Marais. Super location with Place des Vosages and the Bastille. A really comfortable and charming hotel which is perfect for couples. I would recommend skipping breakfast at the hotel and trying the many excellent bakeries and bars on Rue de Rivoli instead.

We have stayed at this hotel a number of times and have gotten to know it well. The good news is the staff is absolutely lovely. They are kind and caring and helpful and we love coming back to see them. They put us in room 702 (shown in the picture) and it's one of the best rooms in the house and bigger than some of the rooms described by other reviewers.

However, the hotel has some drawbacks. The first is that they seem to be unable to get repairs done. The toilet seat in room 702 has been broken for more than four months. All it needs is a new screw and we've raised the matter a number of times and were told that since management has changed, it's been harder to get repairmen to come. I am not sure why this is but at 300 euros a night, I do feel they should be able to organize fixes.

Other small complaints: the rooms are terribly dark ( traditional for French hotels) and the breakfast could be better. Almost any cafe in the neighborhood has better croissants than the Hotel de Neuve. The towels are also getting a bit rough and worn. In short: the location is great and it's quiet and clean but you may be able to do a bit better for that price.

I stayed 3 nights in this hotel and had overall a good experience.

On the positive side:
- excellent location, in the heart of the Marais, on line 1, yet not on the noisy rue Saint-Antoine
- newly renovated rooms, spotless clean, with rain-like shower
- free wifi
- overall good service, arranged a transfer to the airport last minute

On the negative side:
- the room are REALLY TINY, even by Parisian standards - I mean there is probably 40 cm on each side of the bed, putting a luggage on the stand means you can't access that side of the bed, it's impossible to open the room door and the closet simultaneously. At 150€/night and above, that's a bit too small
- the wifi is not in the 21st century: you need to go down to the reception to obtain username and password (can't they tell you on the phone or program with room # and surname?), the connection is slower than in most guesthouses in Vietnam or Thailand
- sloppy housekeeping - they do the basics, but "making up the room" should include: putting fresh bottles of water, replacing amenities, disposing of empty bottles, etc.

I didn't try the 10€ per person breakfast, as it is overpriced and there are much better alternatives around (e.g. the bakery at the corner of rue Saint-Paul and rue Saint-Antoine)..

Overall I would consider this hotel again in the future along with other options, depending on where I want to stay and the price I get.

This hotel is very nice and in an excellent location very close to place de la bastille and to the marais. Our room was huge, which never happened before in all our stays in Paris. We booked quite some time in advance and got a great rate, so the price was also excellent. The room was clean and quiet, the bathroom was a good size, the hotel staff was very nice. Of all the Paris hotel I've been to so far, this is the only one I'd go back to.

Perfect location, friendly staff, short walk to metro and Notre Dame, warm cosy rooms and the shower was lovely. Clean and tidy, you can have a breakfast for around 10 € we didn't take advantage as the hotel was so close to many fine bistros but we did have a coffee whilst waiting for our taxi to the airport which they kindly gave us with their compliments, I would definitely return
