“Great location!”
Reviewed 27 March 2014 via mobile

Rooms are nice and clean, staff is smiling and helpful, the location is GREAT - 1 min from Vavin metro stop (line 4), nice area, close to restaurants and walking distance to many attractions. Great value for the price we paid.
We had a room facing the street, but that was not a problem. Would stay here again.

The hotel is a minute's walk (if that) from the Metro station Vavin (on line 4, which links directly to Gare du Nord) and is also close to several other stations. The area is nice with plenty of restaurants and not too many tourist traps, especially when you get off the main road. There's also a post office nearby, in case you need stamps for your postcards. It's walking distance to the Luxembourg gardens and in general a great location.

Despite being in a busy area, the hotel is quiet and I heard little noise from other rooms.

The bathroom door in my room was very squeaky when I arrived but I mentioned it to the receptionist the next morning and by the time I got back to the room later in the day it was fixed. They also took the opportunity to touch up some scratched paintwork! I was impressed with the service.

Hotel located next to a metro station which makes it easy to access the attractions in Paris. We had a very small room but we only stayed 2 nights so it did the job for us. Staff are very friendly. Would struggle with such a small room for a longer period of time, also quite noisy area. Good if you are on a budget and stopping by quickly in Paris.

The location is great- on a quiet street right between Saint Germain des pres and Montparnasse, a lovely and lively neighborhood (lively after 10am, that is), walking distance from marche Raspil, Luxemburg park and great patisseries and restaurants, and close to Metro stations of lines 4 and 12 giving you an easy way to get anywhere.
The room is not large, but very pleasant as it is clean, well lit and comfortable (the design and amenities all feel new). It has air condition- which might be important as well as hard to get in a Paris hotel room in some parts of the year, and there is free Wifi.

Room Tip: the rooms facing vavin st. are nicer, has there is a nice tiny porch viewing the street.

I really enjoyed this hotel, I loved the location right off of Montparnasse. There was a ton of things to see and do all located within a very short walk from this hotel. There was also a Metro station right out front basically and the RER is about a 10 minute walk from the hotel.

The rooms were very nice probably some of the larger rooms I have stayed in while in Paris. The staff of course was excellent. The only thing that was sort of annoying was the noise that the nearby Metro made every time it came by the hotel.

Dear Guest,

We thank you for your time to write how much you enjoyed your stay at Atelier Saint Germain Hotel.
We’re very happy to read your comment about the staff and do agree with you regarding the convenient location of the hotel when you like to walk, the best way to discover Paris.

You’re the first one to mention the annoying noise of the Metro but as we’re used to it we don’t notice anymore. It’s the counterpart of the fact it is located right out front the hotel.

We hope to welcome you for your next stay in Paris

I had the opportunity to stay for a week over Christmas in this hotel’s best room: #62, the Junior Suite on the sixth floor with a fine view of Boulevard du Montparnasse. Recently renovated with contemporary bathroom fixtures and an efficient HVAC system, the room has an attractive dance mural which reflects the hotel’s quirky ballet theme (see photo).

As I had not yet mastered the city’s street layout, I appreciated the hotel’s convenient location a ten-minute walk south of the Luxembourg Gardens. Just as important was the Vavin metro station around the corner: the M4 train offered easy access by transfers to most parts of the city. And across the street was the venerable La Coupole restaurant with its festive and welcoming atmosphere. While I found the hotel’s location very convenient, those demanding a location in the immediate heart of things might want to opt for an alternative (with likely higher prices) a short distance north in neighborhoods closer to the Seine, such as St Germain or Rue Cler.

The staff was enthusiastic and eager to please. The room was squeaky clean. The hotel's Internet service was reliable and speedy, with access requiring only password entry into a dialog box rather than the awkward and frustrating browser page negotiations required by some hotels. The room had a desk allowing me to get some work done, but the lack of a drawer (a condition shared by the bedside tables) resulted in a cluttered workspace. I also appreciated the provided hot pot with instant tea bags—and was impressed by the provision of china rather than paper cups.

The only serious downside: Those subject to claustrophobia will not like the small elevator which has just enough room for two people and a bag or two. They may want to opt for rooms on lower floors and utilize the alternative of the internal circular stairway which, while narrow and awkward to negotiate, has been attractively renovated along with the rest of the hotel.

Room Tip: Top floor #62 has great view of Parisian rooftops.

Dear Guest,

Many thanks for your time to write this long and detailed review regarding your stay at Atelier Saint Germain Hotel and for sharing nice pictures of your room and the view. As you seem be accustomed to travel, it’s a reward, especially for the staff.

We’re happy to read all your comments about the theme of the decoration, the efficiency of the A/C, the speed of the WIFI, the convenient location of the hotel.

We can only agree about what you wrote regarding the lift but the structure of the building doesn’t allow us to install a bigger one.

We hope to welcome you soon and we wish you a very Happy New Year.
