We loved our visit to Paris for New Years and made especially memorable as guests of this quirky hotel. Rooms lovely, spacious and clean. Courtyard area great for teenagers and the area is full of culture and great Japanese restaurants and bakeries less than 2 mins walk.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms in back building as almost zero noise at night.

The Eldorado is a budget hotel and it is not going to be dazzling. Our room--spacious (a triple) but dirty floor (dust bunnies) and a broken tile with loose gravel. The sink area was fine but the outlet by the sink was broken. The street can be loud at night but you are in a very good area for nightlife, a great bakery on the corner and right down the street to Place de Clichy. The gaps under the doors allow for noise to be heard from the hallway and other rooms. Overall, it was okay and as we were looking to not spend a lot on accommodation it fit the bill. Would we stay there again--probably not as there are so many other budget options and I'd rather stay somewhere that had better reviews in regards to cleanliness. But I don't regret staying there, the beds were comfy and we were there the sleep. If you do go there, it might be in your interest to ask for a room that faces the courtyard as this might be quieter at night...but if you are social/a night owl you won't be in your room anyway.

Loving their funky website and their price, we booked an 8-day stay. My review, however, is mixed. Loved iron-grilled window overlooking courtyard containing garden and seating for adjacent restaurant; proximity to bakery on corner where we obtained the bulk of our Parisian meals; the neighborhood in general which seemed to be family-oriented but just a block from the busy Place du Clichy (with Metro entrances) and less than that to the l'Entracte, which became "our" sidewalk bar for a week where we met many locals and talked into the wee hours. Liked: the aubergine and dusky green color scheme in the room; fact that we had both top and bottom sheets unlike some French hotels; password code to enter after hours; no phone or TV; and price of under $100/night inc. taxes. Disliked: size of room of not much more than space to move around queen bed; small open closet and some narrow, open shelving for storage; peeling paint (tho' they were working on lobby); a bit hot w/o any A/C in unseasonably warm and humid May; couldn't access wifi except briefly from lobby; necessity of checking before opening door at foot of stairs to lobby in case restaurant employees were going by with load; difficulty using room key, fumbling of which prompted next room to think someone was trying to enter their room and vice versa; and shallow, rickety, almost circular stairs. Nevertheless, I'd stay there again.

Room Tip: Streetside might be noisy until two nearby bars close.

I was disappointed in this hotel, as it looked very nice and unique on their website. Unfortunately, a large portion of the hotel was under renovation when we stayed, and it made things dirty and dusty. Furthermore, the workers began working with powertools in our hallway at 7:00 in the morning! Not the most pleasant thing to wake up to by far. I feel for what we paid at this hotel, we could have gotten much better value elsewhere.

The staff were friendly enough, but didn't offer much in the way of recourse for the inconvenience caused by the renovations. The main redeeming quality of the hotel is that it's in a nice area with plenty to do in the evening/night, many great cafes and pubs around. Overall though, I would look elsewhere next time I'm in Paris.

Sometimes you just have to visit Paris, and if you do so you'd better book this unique boutique French hotel... We love its French brick a brack style, friendly staff and most of al you are sleeping on top of Frances best restaurants. We love this place and will be back many times more! Don't forget to book a high room front side, you might get a glimpse on the Eiffel Tower... We had twice!

My first big solo o/s trip and was pleased to have several recommendations for this hotel. Brilliant location, great price and quirky, unique rooms. Terrific garden bistro - limited choice for a vegetarian but the excellent wine made up for that.

Sadly, they were conducting extensive renovations which they failed to give me any warning about. My room smelled very strongly of fresh paint. The new door fixtures cause the doors to close with a very loud bang, every time other guests came or went. Work commenced around 6am with power tools kicking in around 8am. Not really the kind of sound you wish to wake up to when on holiday.

Quirky I am most happy to do. Renovations without prior warning or discount to rate I consider bad business practice. Disappointed, as I would have adored the Eldorado otherwise.

Had one of my best Paris stays ever at the Hotel Eldorado. Can't recommend it highly enough for lovers of the quirky and romantic. And it has a lovely garden restaurant too. All within easy walking distance of Gare du Nord, Montmarte, Moulin Rouge, etc. Not for people who can't handle stairs though!
