“Nice cosy hotel with friendly staff and French charm”
Reviewed 30 May 2014

We stayed there with my husband for two nights for a week-end.
The staff is extremely nice and polite, rooms are small but clean and confortable. Good breakfast as well.
The location is great, near two subway stations and walking distance from the Eiffel Tower.
I would certainly recommend it !

Stayed at the hotel for two nights. Quiet location, steps from the metro and a nice coffee shop on the corner. Room was small, but the bed was proper queen size and comfortable. The bathroom could use sprucing up, better toiletries and curtain for the tub shower..
Tip: bring your own shampoo and soap or prepare to run around the corner as the hotel offers very little. Hotel has a nice courtyard where you can take your breakfast.. Very simple continental breakfast with croissant, baguette and jam. Overall, a simple and reasonable place to stay.. I agree that 3 star is a stretch..

We stayed 4 nights. Rooms and bathrooms not huge but our 2 rooms were very clean. Narrow staircase and worn carpets. Two person lift to 5 floors each with 4 rooms. Half face a quiet street and other half face very quiet courtyard. Breakfast preset on trays with croissant, bread, preserves - help yourself to cereal, fruit juice, tea, coffee, hot chocolate. You can get more variety from local cafes. Air conditioning in the rooms very effective. The overall decor may not come up to everyone's expectations for a 3 star hotel but the very helpful staff go a long way to make up for this. Location great and 5 mins walk to 3 Metro stations and an easy 15-20min stroll to Eiffel Tower. Local shops, restaurants, hairdressers, chemists etc etc make it a very convenient area.

Room Tip: Phone the hotel reception and they will try very hard to accommodate any requests.

I stayed for 4 nights at the Fondary in July and it was an adequate, budget hotel - fairly comfortable, fairly well located and fairly priced.

My room was small but clean and the bed was comfortable by French standards. There was no net curtain over the large window so, if the main curtain was open the surrounding houses can see right into your room. The tv was good but only one English channel. Bathroom had a good sized shower and basic toiletries supplied.

The 2 areas that let the Fondary down are the breakfast (mentioned by most reviewers here). A ready made tray with one croissant, and half a small baguette and a pot of apple mush. The orange juice is the only choice of drink and it is made from concentrate so not great for diabetics! No water or choice of juices. The cereal dispensers are small and not filled up very often so time your arrival well. Once you have your cereal you have to ask specially for milk as there is none supplied. Frankly, you are much better off not taking the breakfast option (10 euros) and heading around the corner to one of several excellent cafes.

The other area of irritation, and one that I am getting more and more annoyed by, is the 'Free WiFi'. Why hotels advertise this when they know that they don't have the bandwidth to support one user let alone a hotel full is beyond me. You log on ok but after you are connected it crashes time and time again. This is very frustrating, especially when you are trying to keep abreast of your emails and work.

These two problems make this an average report rather than a good one and are so easy to fix. Provide value for money on the breakfast and get a better internet connection so that you actually offer the WiFi that your advertising claims.

One last small gripe that was purely relating to my stay.......I would not have chosen this hotel if I had known that the building next door was undergoing renovation. The workmen started noisily hammering at around 7.30am.

Overall, good value in an expensive city but small problems let it down.

Room Tip: All the rooms are similar, try to get one facing onto the street as the inner courtyard provides man...

Let's face it: 2-star hotel. This should say it all... Perfect location, but the room is as dirty as any low level hostal. The towels were dirty, with some weird stains on them, and the door of the bathroom had some stains that resembled blood. At first I thought I was on a crime scene. I went down one day to complain about the towels and the guy at the reception gave me a new, even diriter than the previous one, I complained and he said that he would ot get me a new one...
I didn't want to check on the brown carpet for the fear pf finding something else.
However, the towel problem can be solved if you go around the corner to the Monoprix shop and buy your own ones. This will be much cheaper than moving to any other hotel in the region, from what I saw, they are half the price of competition.
On the other hand, they also have a lovely cat, Hermes, which is always ready to play with the guests. I would say, he is the best part of the hotel.

We stayed there for one night. This hotel is very close to a metro station and also a 7-8 minute walk to the Eiffel Tower. The room was small (as with everything in Paris), but was very clean. The receptionnist was very nice.

A really good place, located on a street with no traffic in two steps from the Eiffel Tower, and a very good price!
my room and the bathroom was not great but for a person went just fine, the housekeeping was very good in general. plus the staff is courteous and helpful. The next weekend I intend to return to Paris I will choose this hotel again!!!!
