“Paris Valentines trip”
Reviewed 18 February 2013

Having never been to Paris I was looking for somewhere central and affordable. I found it here at Hotel Halles. The room was compact but well thought out and spaced, the mini kitchentte was a definite bonus. A little noisy at night due to location but you can't have it all! I would recommend the hotel to anyone wishing to be in the middle of the action Paris has to offer.

Stayed there for one night. I was given a room on the first floor.

* Room
It was clean and spacious for Paris standard. The heating in the room was really powerful.

However, the room was a little too noisy for a good night sleep. I could hear talking from ground floor and door slamming noise. All this happened on and off throughout the night.

* Service
Great service with a smile.

* Location
Very close to Les Halle's/ Chatelet RER and metro station.

Stayed here for three nights over Thanksgiving. Really comfortable hotel in terms of location - it was a 15 min max walk to the Louvre, couple minutes to Notre Dame and 15 min or so to the Pantheon. Right next to Chatelet metro as well. Rooms have a fridge as well, so it's possible to buy food/sandwich stuff and cut back on your food bill too (there's a small supermarket three minutes from the hotel further down Rue Des Halles). Rooms have wi-fi as well, which was included in the room rate. Lastly, I loved that all the rooms had names (I was in Room Madeleine) rather than room numbers. Am definitely staying here again when I visit Paris in a couple of months.

I stayed in the hotel for 6 nights in September - 4 nights with my daughter in a room with two single beds and 2 nights with both my husband and daughter in a room with a double bed and one single. The latter arrangement was very cramped but the former was quite comfortable for two. The rooms were clean and comfortable but nothing special in terms of decor but a balcony looking out over a lovely Paris street made up for it. Both rooms had a little hall between the bathroom and bedroom where there was a sink and fridge, we also had a microwave oven on request. Staff were friendly and helpful and spoke good English. The area is the main attraction with lots of local shops and cafe's, a bakery next door, the metro and RER stations about 50 meters up the street and a 10 minute walk to the Louvre, Seine, Notre Dame, Marais area etc. Unfortunately a nightclub (?) across the road meant that it was very noisy with people on the street until very late on Friday and Saturday night - other nights were OK. Even though the nearest Metro is Chatelet, it feels quite safe as the closet entrance/exit is a small one, not on the main drag (St Opportune).

Room Tip: Ask for a rook with a balcony and request a microwave when you book if you think you will want one,

We stayed here with a family of 6, and took the top 6th floor room (for 4) and a small room on the second floor (for 2). The 6th floor room was a great find for us - we had a small table for our breakfast and plenty of room (by Paris budget hotel standards). Very clean, and very good service. The location is very convenient to the metro, Louvre, Notre Dame, the Marais, left bank, etc. If you are here in August be aware there is No Air Conditioning!

If you need to be in a central hotel, convenient for tourist attractions, this hotel would score high on your list. Note that this is more of a "residence" than a hotel. ie apart from a breakfast area there are no hotel facilities.

The room was clean, it was hot and pretty noisy outside, a potent combination for non airconditioned room. Bed was OK and internal fittings were a bit DIY-ish. The hotel would not score well on the quality of the room

Staff very pleasant. Overall, don't rely on room quality, but if you want a central location this hotel residence would do fine, not particularly cheap but then this is Paris.
