This hotel is located close to a medium-sized underground station, so location is perfect for a city trip. The rooms are small, but clean and nicely decorated. The staff is friendly and helpful. There is decent free Wi-Fi, which is not yet a given in hotels around the world.

Room Tip: We had a room on the garden side on the third floor. Very quiet nights. We sometimes heard a neighbo...

We had a four night stay at the Hotel de l'Avre, and upon arrival we were met in a friendly and smiling manner by the owner and the receptionist. We decided to stay in this hotel because of relatively good prices, and the proximity to the Eiffel Tower. It's a 10 minute walk to the tower, and we paid 92 euros per night. At first we were put in a room on the first floor, which seemed nice enough, until I discovered that the room was more or less an ant nest. As the evening came, the ants emerged in big numbers, and were to be found in every part of the room. I went down to speak with the night receptionist about this, he did not speak english so with a translator on my cellphone I managed to explain the problem. At first he did not seem to believe me, so he came up with me to the room and saw for himself. The next morning the receptionist changed our rooms to a room on the second floor which was fine. There is a nice garden at the back of the hotel, but this area should have some form of lighting at night (very dark after sundown). We did not go for the breakfast option since the hotel does not have a kitchen, only a closed bar with a small fridge. The rooms were nice, cozy with french details, but very warm since there is no air condition, only a floor fan. We also missed having a small fridge or a minibar to store cold drinks. The rooms are small but this is to be expected in downtown Paris. Another irritating point is that they always keep the front door locked (24h) so you have to buzz a doorbell and wait for someone to open, even during the day. The surrounding area is nice and does not seem crime ridden for this to be necessary. There is also a nice shopping street nearby, and well stocked supermarkets in the area. The subway is just 2 minutes up the street, where you can also find nice bars and bistros to sit down for a drink and a meal. The hotels staff and service is fine, and the manager was very friendly. Room was cleaned and tidied every day.

Room Tip: Upper floors to be preferred.

Charming, homey, gracious and so, so pretty. This hotel has lovely details that are treats for the sensibilities. It is a perfect retreat in a bustling city. We are tucked away safely on a quiet street, in a sweet and cozy room. I particularly love opening our window to the courtyard and listening to the sounds of birds and occasionally people's singing that wafts our way.

Yes, it is close to the action but, there is not way that one feels that! So, it is the perfect combination of advantageous characteristics. The staff here are also extremely helpful. My son and I wanted to keep costs down so, we purchased food at the Monoprix nearby for a couple of meals and sat in the dining area and had a private meal. The front desk clerk supplied us with dishes and refrigerated our leftovers. How nice!

Just a few short blocks and you are near that magnificent tower and that wonderful river and all of those stunning bridges. One block away is the Metro. Don't hesitate to call this your home for several days. You will not regret it for one minute.

Room Tip: choose a room on the garden side! Serene and beautiful!

I agree with all the positive that has been said about this little, cosy hotel. The staff is nice and helpful. We had no problems getting understood in English. The location is good with the nearest metro station (La Motte) within 2 minutes' walk and the Eiffel tower nearby. The breakfast at the hotel is sufficient and reasonably priced but we mostly preferred having breakfast at some of the brasseries close by. It is also worthwhile to explore the neighborhood to try the variable bistros and restaurants. For example, there are several good Korean restaurants as well as bistros serving excellent Basque food.
Some people might find the rooms (especially the bathrooms) small but for us, this was not a problem. Further, we heard hardly any sounds from the neighboring rooms. Altogether, we were very pleased with our stay in this hotel!

Stayed for 2 nights and given a room on level 1 facing the garden.

Pros
-near metro station La Motte piquet. Abt 15mins from Gare du nord station. There’s two exits, take the one where you see Macdonalds or Citadines across the road, that’s the correct one.

-plenty of cafes around the area, with a supermarket just on the main road.

-spacious bathroom with good shower jet. mine had a bathtub.

-clean room with comfy space for two and with our luggage.

-friendly front desk staff!

Cons
-no complains :)

I searched for hotels with affordable prices near Eiffel, which is a challenge as reviews i read of other hotels are either those with exorbitant prices or average price but with tiny rooms. Glad that I found this hotel after countless search! My 2 nites were euro220. The area itself is not very buzzing, say compared to St Germain but its covenience to the metro & Eiffel is worth it.

Check-in is after 3pm while check-out is 11.30am. If you arrive early, just take a tour to the Tower!

This was our second stay at the hotel and it was every bit as nice as the first time 4 yrs ago. I love how thy allow you to put champagne and cheese in the frig for later and how nice the breakfast and patio are for enjoying them. The staff (same as 4 yrs ago) were pleasant and helpful as usual. The ground floor rooms can be a little noisey because they are on the street so bring some ear plugs just in case. Love this place
