Our first time in Paris, and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect hotel. All of the staff were friendly and helpful, even helping with my poor French. The room itself was gorgeously made out, whilst the food was typically French (not a bad thing). Would happily stay here again in the future, and would definitely recommend to anyone.

This hotel is absolutely typically French. If you want an American-style hotel it is not for you. If you want a comfortable, genuinely local hotel which is convenient for the Metro – it’s good value for Paris.

The rooms are smallish and furnished in “shabby-chic” style. Bathrooms are modern but not all rooms have a bath. For me the best thing was to have a room overlooking a small garden at the rear. This is pretty unusual for Paris and is both pleasant and quiet, although the Rue de l’Avre is not busy. The main source of noise was from the room upstairs as the floors are wooden and if people walk around with shoes on you can hear them.

Don’t expect lots of extras in the room. If you want tea making facilities, take your kettle. Take soap and shampoo as there is only rather astringent liquid soap gel. There is a small TV and a room safe. Lights in the communal areas are on time switches, again typically French.

The hotel has only 4 floors but it also has a lift. Breakfast is also typically French – definitely “Continental” and extra to the room charge - but at 10.50 Euros quite reasonable for Paris. Lovely fresh bread and a huge croissant – brought in through the morning from the local bakery, juice, yoghourt, apple puree, plenty coffee. No variation and I got a bit fed up of apple puree after a few days – maybe some fresh fruit would have made a nice change.

The staff were always friendly and the reception is manned 24 hours. The hotel is literally 2 minutes from the metro and the area is bustling with locals and plenty of restaurants to suit every taste and pocket.

If you want to stay in Paris like the French do – you could do worse than this hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms on the back are quiet

Have stayed at this hotel twice now and both times had a lovely experience. Rooms are beautifully and individually decorated. Bathroom was clean and modern. Staff were friendly and helpful. Location was great, one minute from the metro and plenty of restaurants and bars withing walking distance. Would definitely recommend.

Last August, my sister Isabelle made me discover her favourite hotel, in the heart of the city. She usually goes there for business when all the fashion and design fairs happen, a hotel that reflects the true atmosphere of this enchanting city. Well located it is close to metro station and within walking distance to the Tour Eiffel, and only 30 mn to the Louvre.
The staff welcomes you with broad smiles and makes you feel at home straight away.
The design is a homely mix of modern and ancient objects, books and old family pictures that remind you of a classic french family home.
It is clean, very clean and to top it all, there is a garden!
So in the morning before heading off, you can enjoy your cafe & croissant outside amongst the trees. You can recharge you batteries after a crazy day or night out in l'hotel l'Avre a peaceful truly french haven.

Room Tip: We stayed in the triple room on the ground floor, it is compact but well laid out and you can put yo...

We stayed in this hotel for 3 days. The hotel is just super. The room is clean, beautiful, has a good and comfortable bed. There was a sense that we are not going back to the room, but in our family home. Very friendly and nice staff. Thank them for their help and sympathy! Outside the hotel is quiet, quiet street. Before the subway 2 minutes. Up to 20 minutes of free walk to the Eiffel Tower. There are a lot of shops - a whole street shoes. There are grocery stores, bakeries, good and inexpensive restaurants. Next time we will stay only here! We recommend to all!

My wife and I stayed here for a week in September 2013. As others have mentioned it is convenient to the Paris Metro, a 2 minute walk. Also, with 5 minutes walk, an ATM, laundry (an opportunity to work on your French), several restaurants, Mickey D's for those that are homesick, a Subway Sandwich shop and several pastry/coffee shops. The Eiffel Tower is 15-20 minute walk. I found the front desk to be most helpful and most of them speak varying degrees of English, a few quite well. I think a few of the complaints about cramped rooms were because they reserved the cheapest room and wanted luxury accommodations. It was clean and had enough places to store our things that we didn't notice the room wasn't very large. The bed was comfortable and although we we're on the street side, weren't bothered by what little noise there was.
There is room for improvement however. When we checked in, about 4 in the afternoon we took our luggage up the elevator (lift) and when the doors opened we were met with almost pitch darkness. There are lights in the haul ways, but they're on timers and you need to push a wall switch to light them again. In addition, housekeeping had not finished for the day and there were piles of sheets, towels, etc along both sides of the hallways. I can't advise on any floor but 1. If you find yourself getting off floor 1, when the lift door opens directly across the hall there is a switch to lit the hall.. Alternatively, you cold bring a small pocket led lamp. I'm warning you , it will be dark. I also think they should have peepholes in the door and safety chains, but that might be too picky. Overall, we would stay there again.

The room was adequate and clean. Good housekeeping. Breakfast is on the pricey side for what is on the menu. Good location for shopping, cafes, Paris transit, and Eiffel Tower. Tub and shower in the room overlooking the patio. Too bad the weather was too wet to eat outside.
